Wonder if the rumours are true that Honor Blackman is joining the cast? Apparently she is to be an old rival of Rita's from the caberet days and somebody with whom Norris is quickly smitten. Sound like a good laugh - some quality comedy (I hope) to bring light relief to the heavier storylines. Anything bringing Rita and Norris to the fore must be good

I'd like to think so Warren. But this will probably fall flat like everything else they do with names.

I like the idea but Honor Blackman doesn't do it for me.

Lets hope she makes a better job of it than Norman Wisdom. I was left feeling very embarrassed watching that.

sootycat I totally agree. That was appalling. They have to stop this desperate bid to get ratings by having gimmicks like that. Clearly they think the storylines aren't good enough to get people watching so they keep having 'guest appearances' and publicise them to death.

The Norman Wisdom thingy was cringeworthy, but I must admit I loved the Peter Kaye episode. I didn't like the idea at all and winged like mad that it would be hopeless with the actress who plays Shelly as her earlier "comic" stuff was lousy. But in the end I thought it was a gem of an episode.
Roy Hudd was excellent as Archie (lovely rapport with Audrey) but there again he has extremely broad experience far beyond being a funny man.

Yes Warren. Archie was a very humorous character. But I did notice he went as boring as the rest after Richard went. It's a shame they wouldn't give Roy Hudd time off to do his News Huddlines. After all, they let other cast members do other things. Now the humour has returned he would have been a great addition. I didn't think much of Peter Kay's ones. They were watchable but over-hyped. I do think it's unfair Daran Little got all the credit for those episodes when Peter had a lot of input.

I remember suggesting before that it would have been a nice cameo for Roy Hudd's long time pal, June Whitfiled, to turn up on the cobbles as a jealous woman with an eye for Archie after Audrey's blood.

Would be a good idea Warren.

I did hear they wanted Roy Hudd back, but the timing was wrong, so hopefully we should see him sometime.

I remember him saying on Des & Mel about he could be returning for a funeral. So everyone assumed it was Nick. Then when Billy died they thought then. I don't think he is. He's far too busy. But it would be nice just for a few episodes to see Archie back.

I thought Harry had been reprieved?

I heard he was going on a trip around the World. Isn't funny there are so many different exits for him.

Harry didn't get a reprieve sadly. That was the papers making it up. I've heard about the exit sootycat mentions but I don't know if it's true. Maybe he'll attack Frankie for making fun of him and gets locked up forever to clean prison toilets with a toothbrush.

Harry didn't get a reprieve sadly. . Oh Blah! What a shame. I thought there could have been future mileage with him and Eileen.

I agree Warren. Harry and Eileen might have made a great couple and she'd never have had to clean the toilet or oven again.

I agree, Harry and Eileen would have made a great couple. I feel TPTB have made a big mistake in writing out Harry.

They had a petition to keep both Karl & Harry, but it seems only the Karl one worked

I'm not sure it did sootycat. I remember reading that Karl was meant to tell Todd after breaking up him and Sarah that he was just using him for fun. That never happened. And also Karl is still about in the hospital somewhere, least seen being beaten up by Martin. They also plan storylines about 3-6 months ahead.

I notice Rita and Doreen never talk about Honor's character..seeing as she was old old showbiz friend of Rita's,you assume shem ust of been an old friend of Doreens too?
