Final whistle for TV's Dream Team
The final series of Dream Team will begin in the autumn Sky One's long-running football drama Dream Team has been cancelled after 10 years on TV screens. A spokesman for Sky One said the 10th series of the drama about Harchester United football club - which is due to go into production - would be the last.
The final series will be broadcast on Sky One later this year.
The series has helped launch the careers of many young actors, including Adam Garcia and EastEnders star Kara Tointon, who plays Dawn Swann.
'Natural end'
It has also featured faces from the world of sport in cameo roles, including former manager Ron Atkinson and footballers Matt Le Tissier, Les Ferdinand and Dwight Yorke.
Richard Woolfe, director of programming at Sky One said: "We're going to go out with a bang.
"We're extremely proud of this series and want it to finish on a high, but like all good things, the series has come to a natural end."
Jane Hewland, managing director of Hewland International, which produces the series, said: "We have had a wonderful ride - but we too think it is over, we have had a ball and learnt so much."
The current ninth series of 31 episodes will run until this May.
Production of the 10th series begins in July and will air this autumn on Sky One.

You beat me to it, what with other things. I read that on Ceefax. Not surprised. The last series had crap ratings which is why they killed them off. It really has had its day and isn't a patch on what it was because, like Brookie, Corrie, EE etc it's trying to top itself all the time. I've watched since episode 1 so will watch till the last. Just need to catch up! LOL! Patsy

LOL! I got in first for once! All the British soaps are dropping like flies. First Crossroads, then Brookie, then FA now Dream Team.

Yes it was very sad when Crossroads ended - in 1988! ;D
