Has anyone written to the cast, past or present, and got something back? I haven't written to many. Barbara Knox many moons ago when she didreply, Julie Goodyear (reply by a Granada secretary), Mark Eden, William Russell and Sue Nicholls (she sent a signed pic to my dog because I mentioned how at that time she was eating everything).

I've got a few corrie autographs: The first I got was Geoffrey Hughes (Eddie Yates) when he was in panto a few years ago, I'm not old enough to remember Eddie so I talked to him about Onslow in 'Keeping up Appearances.' He's a really nice guy and was great as Wishy-Washy! lol From another panto I also have Tricia Penrose (Gina in Heartbeat) She was really nice and came to the stage door to sign all the autographs! The third I've got is Samia Ghadie's (Maria Sutherland.) I got that about a month ago when she was at a signing session, she is really lovely and smaller than I expected! lol Along with, Jonny Briggs who plays Mike Baldwin. (It's actually my mum's from years ago though!) The last is my favourite! My hero: Brian Capron! He sent me a fantastic signed photo which, as you can imagine, I treasure deeply! Not only that but I recently bought one of Richard's grey shirts from Granada at a charity auction with a COA! So I'll put that in a frame soon, when I have the time! I think that's all of them, apart from Paul Daniels and Debbie Magee's from when I went to see one of their magic shows, along with some Manchester City football players! But they're no way as important as all my soap ones! lol ;D

Geoffrey Hughes is in panto here this year. I was thinking of going over one matinee performance and trying to get his autograph. I'll probably forget though, since I meant to for Susie Blake the other week. Well done of the shirt! Does it smell nice? I've got a Reet cardie and frock (the frock stinks!). I won't say the size Barbara Knox is because that's not polite. Let's just say they're big enough for 2 people!

I have written to a number of the cast. I have had about 27 replies-autographed photos. About 7 never replied. The best was a personal letter written by Jack P Shephard! (David)

That's always a problem, isn't it? Did either of you get absolutely nothing or just a pre-signed photo and compliments slip like someone I know had after writing to a few? Can either of you tell me if you tried Sally Whittaker? About 14/15 years ago a bloke I knew in Ireland wrote to her and got a reply from the same secretary I did when I wrote to Julie Goodyear. So I wondered if she was doing that still, replying personally or not at all now.
Deborah that's great about Jack P Shepherd. I heard a few years ago he does reply to everyone which I think is great for someone so young.

I wrote to Sally and I did get an autographed photo and the slip back. When I wrote to Sarah, it took about 7 months to get a photo back-I didn't think I was going to get one. Todd also sent one. (the ones I have received have all been personally signed, but I also have a set of the presigned ones.)
I have also got a few autographs from a show they have in Toronto each year. It is called the British Isles show and each year there is a Corrie star. I have met Denise Black, Judy Mallett, Terry Duckworth, Curly, Geena, Maria and Eileen. In March Les Battersby will be there.
I also got autographs by standing at the Granada gates when I was on holiday about 3 years ago. I met Audrey, Sunita, Jason, Ashley, Tyrone, Mike, Ken, Kevin and Norris.
When I send letters I write them out. I bet a lot of people use the computer these days though. Bruno-I will IM you will the address, don't know if it is allowed on the boards.

The address is allowed here so I'll post it.

Emily never replies, Deborah. Never gives autograhs either. There was a wonderful article in the Daily Mirror a couple of years ago (don't know if it's still on their site) by her son Oliver Holt (who does a sports column for the paper) about her. I don't know what's got into Barbara Knox these days. I know 1 person who got a reply last year but that's all. Other people have written several times over the past few years and not heard a peep. I know someone who wrote to Kate Ford (incidentally, you can now write to Dawn Acton via Granada and they'll pass it on whereas up to a few months ago they never answered the question about how to write to her) and just got a pre-signed photo. He's trying again via her agent but I don't think it will make much difference. Have to see.
Bruno, I always hand write mine. My writing's not wonderful since an injury 14 years ago but it's better than typed I think. More personal.
Some people are mean really. Okay so they have busy schedules. But they also get time off. Louise Jameson when she was in EastEnders replied to every single one even if it was just a pic. I met her after that and thanked her. "I always get round to them in the end" she said. She's also always busy in theatre but always finds time. She knows me now through my love of Tenko (though she's only met me 4 times in 4 years) and I have her email address but because she's always away working, I dropped her a line by snail mail before Christmas and last week got a postcard back wishing me a joyous 2005. She's someone who really appreciates fans. Someone like Barbara Knox is ALWAYS having time off so there's no excuse for not replying when, at the time I wrote at the height of the Alan Bradley storyline, she had hundreds and hundreds yet replied to every single one personally. Quite a turnaround for her, isn't it?

I agree-go with the handwriting, it is much more personal!! Believe me, my handwriting is definitely not neat! LOL
Tomorrow I am definitely going to write a few more letters.(thanks to reading this thread) Getting an envelope postmarked from Manchester beats bills anyday!
I supposed the cast must get a lot of fanmail, but even if they answered so many each day that would be great. Afterall, its the fans that make the show.

Mind you in all fairness people like Barbara Knox and Eileen Derbyshire are in their 70's and for all we know could be suffering from athritis.or failing eye sight...mind you they could have some photos ready signed and a secretary could send them off

Yeah i get wot u guys r saying, but it still is really annoying when folk don't write back. Rita, wot u were saying about Dawn Acton, does that only apply 2 her or does in apply 2 other ex-cast members 2?

I only started writing to the cast about 14 months ago. Ive written to Barbara Knox 3 times (once in Nov 2003, once in May 2004 and once 2 weeks ago) and not heard a peep back from her.
Ive written to Kate Ford, Sally Whittaker and Helen Worth and got back a signed photo card thing, which they signed themselvesd (not pre printed), and ive written to Sue Nicholls and got a written reply back, she is a lovely lady.
As well as writing to Barbara Knox 2 weeks ago I wrote to Anne Kirkbride, Bev Callard and Kate Ford again so will see over the coming months what replies I got, bet Barbara wont reply.

William Russell (when I got a reply) was 78 so age has nothing to do with it. He was days off being 80 last year when I met him and he was doing a lot of signing. Lovely man. Mark Eden is another in his 70s who also replies. As for Barbara, she did reply last year to a friend of mine by hand so can't be that badly affected by arthritis.
Deborah, how have you got on with your latest letters?
Bruno, I presume it means all cast members and they'll pass letters on. Though try and find an agent first through Spotlight (can't remember the site addy off hand). Quite a lot have them. Granada are reported to filter fan mail, meaning a lot is unlikely to get through so an agent is a better bet. Just wish I could find one for Barbara, not that it'd make much difference.

I did write 3 letters-can't even remember who to now. I got busy and never got them mailed. I will write a few more letters and definitely get them sent off. How long would you wait before writing a second letter to a person??

I suppose it depends on how busy they are. If they're not doing much like the older ones, then a few months since they have more than enough time to reply. Maybe a year for others. Here's that Spotlight address so you can check for agents first www.spotlightcd.com/ I've never really felt like writing to Corrie cast for some reason. Mind you, I haven't written that many letters at all. There's some Emmerdale people I'm thinking of writing to including Ken Farrington who was Billy Walker in Corrie. Knowing me I'll think about it a while then suddenly decide to in the middle of the night when I'm trying to sleep. LOL! Patsy

Patsy, thanks for the website for the agents. I will check it out Well I got Bruce Jones' autograph today so another one for my collection. (big difference over Sue Cleaver last year.) There are 4 or 5 stars I will write another letter to and see how I get on.

You'll find a lot of the current cast come up in the search. Sometimes better than going through Granada even though there's still a 50/50 chance you'll get a reply.
I thought I'd have a go at adding pics. Never done it before so haven't a clue how to do it. Can you do it from the desktop or does it have to be a site?

Let's see if I can add a photo here. I have done it on other similar sites. I use a website called: www.photobucket.com . I add the photo, then I use the IMG link and put it here. (if you don't see a photo, you will know it didn't work. LOL) This is Sue Nichols and me.

Well ive not officially met anyone from the Corrie cast, although I did see several of the stars on all three times ive visited Manchester, but never to talk to or have photo's taken or anything sadly. The first 2 times I went to Manchester was for the Studio Tours back in 1994 and 1996/7 so I saw a few of the cast coming off the sets on both those occasions including Bill Roach, Gaynor Faye (Judy), Tina Hobley (Samantha). Last year when I was in Manchester, outside Granada, Johnny Briggs walked right past us and a few people were shouting Mike but he never stopped.
When I go to Manchester this time fingers crossed I will meet someone. Top of my list would be Barbara Knox, Sue Nicholls, Kate Ford, Sally Webster, Anne Kirkbride, Betty Driver and Bev Callard but meeting anyone would be good!
