Harry Hill has written a new soap called Soapington Way. The TV comedian will also appear in the show alongside Early Doors star Mark Benton and Linda Green actress Liza Tarbuck. Hill is well known for making jokes about Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders on his TV Burp show. The new series will be filmed in front of a studio audience.
From Digital Spy So basically it'll be a mock soap, along the lines of TV Burp!!! If its as good as that it'll be brilliant!

...or maybe like Acorn Antiques? Could be great. Just found some more info:- (from thecustard.tv) Soapington Way (previously listed as Xtreem Soap) ITV1 – Spoof soap set in the fictional town of Waffingham, created by comedian Harry Hill, who stars as landlord Arthur Buttons. With Darren Day as a cheating husband, Jan Francis as Arthur's wife, John Thomson as the owner of a key-cutting booth, Paul Usher as a villain, Kate Robbins, Josie D'Arby, Karen Taylor and Carli Norris. Writers include Dan Maier, David Quantick, Brenda Gilhooly, Paul Hawksbee and Andrew Collins. (from chortle.co.uk) Harry Hill is working on a new spoof soap opera. The stand-up – who regularly mocks soaps on TV Burp – says the new comedy is likely to be called Soapington Way, and will be set around a village duck pond. ‘I’m not Harry Hill in it,’ he told the Daily Telegraph. ‘My character’s Arthur Buttons. ‘And you’ll only see the hair of the character who’s my nan because she’s too short to peer over the bar. ‘And there’s a mad sex-change character who’s my sister, who I fall in love with.’ Hill, who was giving an interview to promote his new children’s book The Further Adventures of the Queen Mum, said soap operas were ‘crying out’ for mockery.

If this is as good as it sounds, then maybe Harry Hill will get a win at the NTA`s next year instead of the very unfunny Catherine Tate...or gawd help us the even unfunnier Ricky Gervaise
