Everyone says that Tom baker is the longest serving Doctor (1974-1981)...but i suppose Sylvester McCoy is really..he started in 1986 and was still there in 1996 when he regenerated into Paul McGann..thats 10 years..its not his fault they didn't make any episodes..but I suppose he was still the doctor

They've talked about this at conventions. Battlefield 4 I think it was in 2000 with Peter, Ant and Sylv. Peter saying as far as he's concerned Sylv's still the Doctor. He absolutely hated the TV movie. I think it should be as in stories not how long. Tom did more (thanks to Grade cutting back the number of eps and then Powell for axing it completely without saying anything officially) so he should keep his crown. McGann would be 9 years and so would Sylv.
