Well I thought it was very good...i don't think I'm too keen on everything being tied up and done in 45 minutes..I preferred the old system of cliffhangers and 3 or 4 episodes per story

I must admit I was peeved at the 'previously' bit then remembered it's like the old episode reprise but with a bit added! Not quite the same though having it as pre-titles. I'm completely with you about cliffhangers. That's what the music's for. Doesn't quite work with it being all wrapped up. Course, to the uninitiated it's wonderful. But we're old fans so know better. I thought it was okay, a tiny bit averge butstill good overall.
I liked the woman made of wood and when he tried to cross the chasm to hear her screm when her arm caught fire, then when he looked round (in a long shot) she was completelt ablaze.
But what really struck me was Rose's reflection of there being no more earth. After they landed, just when she was looking around at everyone i thought that was really really raw and full of emotion.
I also loved he little quip about the chip shop closing (Only 5 billion years!) was ace, When they walked of together it just felt great like they had real chemistry between them (The doctor and Rose).

I enjoyed last nights episode, I could see the chemistry between the Doctor and Rose.
Someone on Digital Spy has posted viewing figures;
Dr Who 7.27 million audience 36.05 % share Ant & Dec 6.02 million audience 30.86 % share
So Dr Who beat Ant and Dec again. Both viewing figures are down on last week though possibly due to the light nights and people not watching TV.

I really enjoyed it, my daughter, who had called in while it was on, didn't. ( She has a spider phobia, even metallic ones do it seemingly ! )
When the Doctor was trying to avoid those fans, it reminded me of a bit from Tomb-Raider 3
A great array of Aliens, I thought Cassandra was excellent.
When they were playing the juke-box, I was expecting one of the songs to be Billie's hit record. ;D ;D
Billie Piper makes that programme for me, more than CE.

Not surprised at those ratings. It's bound to rise though for the Daleks. After all, they saved the show in 1963! I didn't like that jukebox. I thought it was a bit naff and the choice of music might have been better if it had to be included. Soft Cell and Britney?? I thought those spiders were pretty naff too, probably because they only had 4 legs and were CGI. The ones in Planet of the Spiders and Full Circle were better and they were pretty crap too (especially Planet though that did give me my phobia when I was 4). I liked the tree woman but maybe it would have been better longer. I wasn't that bothered when she died. She was minor really so didn't have the character development to make us care.
By the way, anyone seen the letters on Teletext today? I cannot believe they gave the star letter to someone slagging off Who fans!

Good point about Britney. Be CD only wouldn't it? When they wheeled that jukebox out, I was expecting more 50s and 60s music.

I missed the first episode but saw Saturday night's though. It took a little while to settle into, but once I did I really liked it.
Having never the show previously I thought it was good.
The Britney jukebox moment was hilarious though, I laughed out loud. I think cliff hangers would be better as well as longer stories.
That said in the episode it would have been annoying if it had lasted any longer. Over the next few weeks I'd love if there were some stories that lasted two/three episodes. I do know that Bruno Langley appears for two episodes and hopes to return next series so maybe that'll mean longer stories.
So far it seems good though, even if some of it is a bit dodgy in places (Cassandra and Rose's scene wasn't the best when it came to acting!).
A guest appearence by Zoe Wannamaker was a good thing though, as was the "Tree Woman" the Doctor had some moments with.

Dunno, Nick. Any plungers and egg whisks nearby? Maybe if it had been longer then there would have been that character development I've mentioned before. Some of the originals were absolutely dreadful and 3 or 5 parts too long (though Trial of a Time Lord was 14 parts too long!). With them being so fast-paced and short it makes you not care because you don't know the other characters. Given the choice between 45 mins (well, more like about 42 mins when you chop the start and end off) and the original series, I'd rather sit through the old ones. Patsy
