Another good episode, similar in style to the Jon Pertwee years...I think Russell T davies must have read the same Stephen King book that I have read..I can't think of the title offhand, but the aliens in that used Human bodies as hosts and broke wind profusley

Sorry but i thought it was pretty weak.
Wasn't keen on the fake-alien pig. The cgi wasn't that bad on the UFO i though in respect, the effect of the aliens tering a rip in their heads (One even having a zip) was worse IMO.
The bits with coming back a year late not 12 hours were good, but i wasn't too impressed with the aliens that actually came out of their host's bodies, i don't know if i'll watch the next episode (Meh - i probablly will religiously just to see it and know what happens)
But the worst was the gas thing with the aliens.
Sorry, didn't really think much of this episode at all.

I missed the first 10 mins because I was out and some of the next 5 after getting in but what I did see (and I'll watch the repeat tomorrow) was complete crap. The Foamasi were similar and didn't fart. The cliffhanger was pointless because of the clips of next week. Might as well not bother. The cliffhanger itself was about 2 minutes too long. It should have ended when they began to reveal themselves but it went on and on and on and repeated itself. And we don't need Rose's mum and boyfriend. What's the betting her mum survives AGAIN? It's a fantasy programme and we managed quite well with our imaginations when the boys and girls boarded the Tardis and never needed all that stuff. But then RTD thought the snog in the McGann tripe was wonderful so what does he know about anything? Compared to last week though, what I saw is woeful and I wish these other eps by different writers would be on so we can judge against RTD.

I thought it was good apart from two things:
1) the farting aliens: really, really childish humour and too repetitive. Once or twice would have been enough!)
2) the "cliffhanger" ending: as Patsy said it was pointless if they show a preview of next week. Other shows do the same, ruining cliffhangers by having these sort of"next week" previews.
A cliffhanger is a device used to bring the audience back the following episode. The "next time" thing is supposed to do the same. But you can't have both, so choose between them I say.
Also the build-up to the ending went on... and on... and on... and on... I thought it'd never start the theme music!
The rest was good though I thought. The CGI didn't look as bad as I thought they would, and the bit with the pig was funny. It wasn't quite laugh out loud but it was still funny.
A good episode I thought, apart from the end!

I say dump the 'last time' and 'next time' stuff. After all, people managed quite well before they were invented to make us out to be thick morons who can't remember a thing. Having that at the start last night with Rose and Mickey, blah, blah was pointless because we know what happened. It also wastes minutes that could be put to better use with more of the script. We had the reprise of the previous ep originally but that was usually leading up to where the previous one ended. There was no reprise between stories. I remember one time in The Bill there was that explosion in a pub. All the mags were saying, "Does Adam Okaro live or die?" but the "Next time" had him 100% alive! There's no point of any cliffhangers in any show if they're going to tell us what happens. It's as bad as those annoying flashes on the screen saying what's coming on next despite trailers and then irritatingly squashing the credits to tell us anyway! I can only hope next week's is better but somehow I'm not banking on it. They could have ditched Rose's mum and boyfriend. Lots of companions ended up back on earth during their lifetime and none of that was included. Why is RTD intent on making Rose 'real'?

Don't get me started on the way Tv is done nowadays..all this welcome to the programme, coming up...still to come..after the break....... Part 2 a recap of part one..then still to come..then next times episode.....And the scrolling headliners at the bottom of the news screen..and when some newreader says for eg: the budget tax has gone up 10%..a graphic comes up on the screen saying Tax up 10%..they think we're mad......And Jon Snow and Andrew Marr are turning into comedy spoof characters....Chris Morris's 'The day today' was a true prediciton of how the news was going

I enjoyed it apart from I think they overdid the farting aliens a bit. ( The kids would have enjoyed that though ) ;D
Nice to see the MPs full of "wind" No change there then. Did that deputy PM ( then PM ) remind you of anyone. ;D ;D

LOL! Quite a rant there, Nick, and I agree with every word. It's got so out of hand now. But do they listen? ITV are a law unto themselves but we pay the Beeb's wages so they should do what we want.

PETITION!!! Get rid of the "next time" on Doctor Who.
The "last time" I like though as I missed the first episode and it helped me catch up a little when I watched the second one.

LOL! Didn't notice though if he had 2 Jags, sooty. Hear, hear, Eithne. It really spoils it showing what's coming. Where's the surprise element we used to get with the show? Okay, so they blew it big time giving away Daleks in the titles. But imagine something like Earthshock ruining the Cybermen element with that 'Next Time' slapped on the end. It's already spoiled the Dalek for those who didn't want to know. Patsy
