Worth watching? I was out and should have been back well before it started but due to circumstances, didn't get back till 6.55! So, worth watching or not? I've got the vid set up for the repeat on BBC3 tonight.

I still thought it was on at 7pm and only caught the last 10 minutes. Never, never move the time slot BBC. And no, i can't get BBC3.

Definitley worth watching! I thought it was brilliant!
And our campaign worked!!! They had a brilliant cliffhanger at the end of the episode and then the credits came on - there was no "next time" bit at the end. The announcer then came on and told the audience to turn off if they didn't want to see a preview for next weeks episode. I turned off the video.
The storyline built up slowly over the episode, with some pretty obvious plot twists that were supposed to be shocks (like Nancy's brother turning out to be the Empty Child).
Richard Wilson's cameo wasn't too long. I wonder what it was exactly they cut out, as one of his scenes had the sound of heads cracking.
Jack Harkness was good as well, even if his and Rose's sub story wasn't too interesting. I read that he'll do something very surprising in a future episode, so I wonder if that is next week or will he be in it for more than two episodes.

Just finished watching it. All I can say is this is more like it!!!!! Harks back to the Hinchcliffe era. For once I didn't even look at the clock to see how long there was left. I agree, Eithne, about the Rose stuff. But having the Doctor and companion split up instead of joined at the hip makes it better because you explore other parts of the story. Didn't like the cliffhanger though. Like Aliens of London, it just went on a bit too long. And I so hoped they'd FINALLY listened and dropped the 'next week' bit when it went straight to the credits. Too much to hope for I suppose. Looks like that was just on BBC3 then. No warning. Credits ran to the end and they spoiled it before the date. Maybe they think people won't care because it's only a repeat. But they should definitely stop for the next series. I noticed that about the head cracking. They must have missed that bit. I thought the CGI was awful, especially London. It didn't look like buildings. And the music wasn't overwhelming either. I can't wait for next week's which is how it should be with 2-parters.
Peter, a shame you missed it and don't have BBC3. This is (for me) the best ep of the series so far.

Look forward to it, Nick.
I had some of that 'if you don't like it - don't watch it' crap earlier this week, as well as being told I didn't like it, proving these morons don't actually READ the comments properly or they'd see praise in there. That friend of mine who won't join has had that a lot but that's the first time for me. Then one of them had the nerve to say, "Why should I feel guilty for liking it?" when I never said they shouldn't in the first place! I asked them to answer the questions posed by last week's plothole-filled ep and one didn't even bother replying at all and another said they weren't going to because I'd 'still hate the show anyway'. That means they CAN'T answer them only they're too arrogant to admit it. But what's worse, is that the thing wasn't even about DW! Sadly there's too much off that about with people attacking those who disagree - and not just on DW. Thank goodness on here we respect each others opinions and don't resort to personal attacks.
When I was out yesterday, a thought struck me about this new series - lack of Tardis scenes between the Doctor and companion. But splitting the Doctor and Rose up yesterday has my thumbs up. After all, that's what the stories are all about (plus less emphasis of effects and more on writing) as well as splitting them up. I just hope after such a promising start, next week's isn't a HUGE disappointment!

Well have just got round to watch saturdays episode..what can i say ..absolute drivel from beginning to end............No only joking..me and Geoff ('im indoors)both thought it was very very good..much better than last week (which was dire)The story was at a good pace, and didn't feel rushed as if they had to cram it into 40 minutes...and hooray at last,as Eithne said they masses have struck, and they warned you about the trailer for next week and went into the credits first, which is as it should be.....so off went the video before the end credits..and now I am as i used to be ..wondering if the Doctor and his assistant survive All in all a darn good episode

Lucky you not getting that. I'm back to BBC1 from this week but I wish they'd drop that full stop. If people are going to watch, they're going to watch. If they got bored out of their brains and switched off during any of them, they won't see it anyway. You're right, it didn;'t seem rushed. The Rose and jack stuff was padding but nowhere near as bad as RTD's two-parter. Unfortunately I DO know what happens next week - bloody BBC!
BTW, anyone got the DVDs yet? I have but haven't got round to watching and wondered if they removed the 'Next Time' bit from them or not. I'm not bothering with the box because of no DW Confidential (and any bits at Stockton last November with me in them! ;D)and chances are a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff will be taken from there anyway.

I did from the last ten minutes also like the cliffhanger ending, titles then announcement about next week's spoiler giving people a choice to mute or turn over, so i agree there - much better. let's hope they do this permanently!

They really need to drop that 'Next Time' bit for the next series. Just have a trailer afterwards if they must. And have two-parters with the same title. It gets confusing otherwise. After all, they're stories just like the old series with its varying part-lengths. So if you said to someone, "What's your favurite story?" about the new series, imagine how confusing it would be if they said, "The Doctor Dances", which is part 2.
