My friend (the one who won't join) said her agent or something said she'll only be doing about 7 eps of the next series. Anyone heard anything concrete about this?

It was posted on Digital Spy as well. I'd say it is true, but just hasn't hit the media yet. Expect more during the week.
The reasons cited for her departure (on DS) were the heavy workload and not wanting to get steretyped, as Rose is only her third role or so.

You'd think they'd try and stop it from leaking out after the CE fiasco, wouldn't you? She has done very well. It's takes good actors to be able to react to green screen. I think she has a very good future ahead of her. I'd never seen her in anything before but have been impressed.
Maybe they could get Peter Davison's daughter as the next companion! LOL!

It was in todays Daily Mirror that she will only appear in a 'handful' of episodes in the next series

There was a big piece in the Daily Express as well.
They also pointed out that maybe it was a good idea Rose moving on, and they could get someone who could bond more or less staight away with the new Doctor.
They also mentioned that Noel Clarke ( Rose's boyfriend ) is going to be a companion.

Oh I hope not..never go back..always go forward......I think he should get more than one assistant..then if one leaves its not such a blow to the series

It seems to be everywhere. It's a shame but I hope not Noel Clark. Would that mean more trips to earth to visit Rose?? Purlease! Dump the mother and boyfriend for season 28 and get back to good old-fashioned time and space travel!

here here Patsy..none of the other assistants were obsessed about their mothers and boyfriends..after all the Doctor usually put them back to the same time they went off with him

I heard too that Billie piper had done a few other roles, but i too haven't seen them, but i have enjoyed her alot in this and thought she has been good. My favourite moment is the one where she watches the earth explode - that last ten minutes with her just looking at people knowing they're all dead, no dialogue, then that great chemistry with CE. Be a shame if she does but at least it's for valid reasons i can understand (Unlike CE) and she might be doing these several episodes of the next season at least.

LOL! Course, it could be just agent talk. You know what they're like. The original spin doctors.
