Up until Rose was shot i was undecided, very small parts were silly but on the other hand i didn't hate it either.
Aftwards i was jumping around like a giddy 10-year old schoolboy, mentally anyway! That's alot of Dalek! I an actually say i can't wait till next saturday!! Screeeee!

Kill me now!!!!!!!!!! Or should that be, exterminate me now? Only good point was Captain Jack minus clothes! Why is there such a lack of imagination with these writers? Not only ripping off the first episode of The Daleks, but also Remembrance and Dalek Masterplan. Why couldn't RTD come up with his OWN game shows? Why is the music STILL drowning out the dialogue? What was the point of Daleks hovering at the end when they weren't going anywhere or doing anything? And that bloody 'Next Time' bit! I was bored out of my head with this.

The game shows were overused which is probably why I was bored and might have been better if they were original ideas instead of using what's around now. There was also no tension (I got none anyway) when Rose was losing The Weakest Link and the old "Will the companion be saved in the nick of time?" bit. Maybe it was the music because it just drowned everything out and was irritating. And sorry, but Barbara and the plunger was much better than Rose with hers. Maybe it's because it was all new then and newer viewers of this will have already seen the plunger and view from the eyepiece. I am hoping the next one is better. I'm ALWAYS hoping the next one's better! LOL!

The Daleks never win...why don't they admit defeat and put those plungers to good use..the Uk is crying out for good plumbers !!
Tonight was the first time the music really got on my nerves..it just drowned out all of the dialogue

LOL! And they carry their own supplies of ballcocks. Daleks will never admit defeat. They're mad. Incidentally, next week. Davros? If it is at least he won't be in an eggcup this time. Patsy

I loved it, and was on tenterhooks throughout. I have mixed feelings about what Patsy is saying about non-origianl game shows. But having the Doctor on Big Brother got more attention for the episode (rather important in the overall context of the series) than if the Doctor appeared in a 20 whatever century game show.
Some Questions:
- Did anyone else think it was set a little too far in the future?
- What do you make of Lydna? A new companion or will she (and Jack?) die next episode? RTD referred to Jack as a "soldier" on DW:C.
- Why were the losing contestants being transferred to a Dalek spaceship in the first place? For them to eat? To train with? An annoying plot hole.
- Was the order of the episode changed, because Rose left out last weeks adventure in Cardiff when she was talking about what they'd been doing since the last time they'd been on the space station.
I was very, very annoyed to see the next time bit at the end of the episode especially the bit with the hologram like Doctor talking about how he was almost dead!!!

I do agree about the music though. And i agree with the whole gameshow stuff, as i said, i was only borderline until Rose was shot (no bad reflection on Rose there intended.). Some Questions: - Did anyone else think it was set a little too far in the future? Not really. I dunno about lynda but i hope Jack stays despite the constant sexual innuendo between him and the doctor. I don't think the doctor will keep Lynda just because he likes her, he was just telling her what she wanted to here (her being sweet), he doesn't actually like her that way or want another companian i don't think, or at least that's how i read it. I don't mind her but i don't think she'll be in it in series 2. Either killed or just returned home is my betting. I read it as just Rose being transported their, that the others were transported anywhere in space and time? Might just be me though? Again i just read it simply as her last escapade being after Cardif, just because we didn't see it doesn't mean they couldn't have done it afterActually, come to think of it the doctor did say they were on their way back from the planet (after delivering that slytherine egg) so Rose's story is inconsistent? But wasn't it the Doctor who also said they went back to ancient *somewhere or other* 1313??! Completely agree they should've at least cut that bit out! Overall they shouls still eitherhave no next time or have the titles an announcement and then the spoiler like that one -off time.

I remembered last night it also reminds me of Vengeance on Varos which death and torture on reality TV the norm. And we know that preceded all these reality TV things. If only Mary Whitehouse had seen the crap ITV especially put on today she'd have regretted complaining about that! LOL!
It was a bit unimaginative for RTD to have the stuff that's on now all those years in the future. And it was clearly a gimmick for maximum publicity. Maybe on a second viewing I may enjoy it more. But I'll wait till the DVD comes out for that.
Yes, I agree it was too far in the future which makes thinks like Big Brother, The Weakest Link and What Not To Wear even more ridiculous to be included.
I quite liked Lynda with a Y. Don't know if she'll become a companion though. Probably not. All this talk of Billie but what about Captain Jack? I want him and his gorgeous body to stay. Finally, after all those years since Frazer Hines, a male companion to fancy!!!! ;D
Maybe RTD is continuing from Revelation of the Daleks where people were turned into Daleks to keep the race alive, and the most gruesome they'd ever done. I'm more curious about why the one in Dalek was the 'last' of the species and yet here are half a million.
Drop the 'Next Time' bit altogether. I hate it on other programmes where there's a cliffhanger because it gives it away. Maybe, just maybe, if we all comment to the Beeb on their feedback page they might listen.
The Doctor said they went to Kyoto I think. I didn't notice these errors but again, like in the soaps, it's the script editor's job to iron them out.
Regeneration next week?

Was CE not supposed to be appearing in the Christmas Day special as well? It is amazing how quickly DW has became a part of our lives isn't it?

According to some papers, yes. But with the filming all being finished a few weeks before the first ep aired, maybe they were deliberately misleading people. Though I think it was the Mirror which said they had to reshoot the end or something after that news was leaked about him leaving which I doubt somehow.
Yes, it is. Just like in the 60s, 70s and 80s (well, a bit).

How unoriginal. Okay, so BBC Wales makes it. But even when it was done in London at various BBC studios, they went out and about with a fraction of the budget.
