Marvelous Episode.
Billie Piper out-acted Ecclestone especially at the end. I hope to see Billie on our screens a lot in the future.

It would have been good if RTD hadn't nicked so much from other sources. People as Daleks - Revelation of the Daleks when Davros turned the dead of Tranquil Repose into them. The Daleks invading the space station with a handful of people defending - Resurrection of the Daleks. Self-sacrifice - Caves of Androzani. Companions possessed - where do I begin? Sarah was controlled by a Spider and shot the Doctor in his last story. Then there's the message nicked from Star Wars. Emperor Dalek - absolute crap. It was obvious he was trying to recreate Evil of the Daleks. The one thing he DID get right about the Daleks is that they talk too much! How many times through the years did they SAY, "Exterminate!" or, "You will be exterminated!" then do bugger all about it except say? The kissing was cack. No need for that. And that bloke who plays Captain Jack said on BBC3 the Doctor 'loves' Rose. Er, no he doesn't. It's friendship and you do anything for your friends, even lay down your life for them. The ending was good. But I don't go by RTD (or whoever it was) who said in that mishmash of Dr Who Confidential on BBC1 that Eccleston will be the equivalent of 'my Doctor'. You only get that when they stick around for a few years. Tom Baker's mine, even though I actually started watching during Jon Pertwee's 5 year tenure.
All in all I did enjoy having the series back and I'll miss not having anything to watch on Saturday nights, since for years now I've not watched anything. BUT for the next they need to make changes like getting out to other planets, drop the 'Next Time' bit, drop Rose's boyfriend and mother and lower the volume down on that bloody music! I know I've hated a lot of this series. But then, going back through the previous 26 years, there was a lot people love and hate so nothing's changed there. LOL! Roll on Christmas!!!!! Hope it's on at the same time as Corrie. Bound to be better since Corrie's usually crap at Christmas and overhyped.

I will miss it on Saturday nights.
I did like the episode but well where do I start? I didn't like the whole notion of how the daleks were saved and they regenerated from humans so they were partly humans. It seemed something was started with that like since when did Daleks know about something I forgot it now, but I was thinking something is coming here to play up on these new human instincts inbuilt in them. However nothing happened it was as quickly forgotten as it was introduced.
If they wanted an excuse for the daleks to survive I'm sure they could of done a better job of it than that.
Also having told Mickey for the upteen time she didn't care for him, this time bringing it home to him, Mickey still was willing to help her. Grrr
Liked the stuff with the mother
Think I'm going to really like David Tennant, more than the current one who has annoyed me more and more as the series went along. I can see now why they got rid of him and it is so ovvious they did intend this all along.

Again, like previous eps, I suppose to those who'd never seen it before (and they should skip Warriors of the Deep on UK Gold tomorrow unless they want to fall straight back to sleep again), it was great. But we old timers which the eps have seen it all before so there's nothing really original in them. Let's face it, althought The Unquiet Dead/The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances were good, they could have all been the same story. For all their faults and crap stories, at least Big Finish CDs try to be more original.

Hey I was right. I just checked the posts about last week's ep and I said then about continuing from Revelation of the Daleks by turning people into Daleks. Just goes to show how predictable RTD is.

What time was it on BBC3 tonight? I put it on as usual at 11.45 to wait for it and it's not there Its on again tomorrow at 7 if not I'll stick a tape in the post on Monday because I got to do it for someone else. I was niffed though it was earlier on BBC3 becasue I wanted to tape it again in case the other was cut. It ended at 7:41 or 7:42 or something. Blasphamy (badly spelt I'm sure) was the word I was thinking of earlier. They made a big thing about that now being in the Dalek's head yet didn't expand upon this human side.

.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... was my first reaction. I was just speechless. It was so, so brilliant I thought (as a non old DW viewer) The whole story (not just of two episodes, of thirteen) came together so well. There was plenty of surprises, brilliant acting all round, excellent SFX (it looked like a film!) and just an amazingly story with so many twists. Could it have been better? No is my answer anyway. Most of the questions were answered, and Bad Wolf was revealed as Rose. It was a bit of a surprise I thought. The merciless Daleks were devastating, but well explained by RTD in DWC. I hated (and loved) when the Daleks were heard slaughtering the people on floor zero. As the deaths continued I was more and more upset by each one (the people on floor zero, the couple, Lydna, Jack). Speaking of Jack - will he be back next series? That was the biggest cliffhanger of all. Since none of them know he's alive (unless Rose happens to remember what she did) then he's stuck on the spaceship. How will his devoted army of female (and male) fans cope with that? That brings me on to the kisses. - Jack and Rose, not surprising - Jack and the Doctor, very surprising, especially for 7pm and a young audience. And I'm surprised the BBC approved it. - Rose and the Doctor, the role of the assistant changed and it left some questions for series two. Cheesiest line ever though: "Rose I think you need a Doctor" Speaking of that - the regeneration... David Tennant? What can be said? One question I do have is whether that was shot after the series finished filming or not? Was it always planned? Were they searching as the series was filming for Doctor no. 10? Anyway, to sum up in a few words - the best bit of TV I've seen all year (if not in a greater length of time!)

A tremendous episode, in fact, the whole series has been excellent, ( apart from the odd hiccup ) The main one being locations.! Was I the only one in tears at the end. The amount of Daleks were amazing, and still as evil as ever. ;D
I now can't wait till the next series starts. At least the BBC have got their act together, and got a golden handcuffs deal with David Tennant, for the next three years.
And what is replacing it next week. Fools and Horses.....again.

Nick, your video's trying to tell you something. LOL!
I'm still baffled. Okay the regeneration was good and it made a change for it to be standing up. However, I would have liked to have seen his face change properly like we used to. I hated the McCoy/McGann one with all that gurning but at least it was better than nothing.
My friend told me they ripped off the new Battlestar Galactica for the Dalek ships.
I still don't understand how the Doctor 'died' after having that power for seconds yet Rose didn't and she was infected for ages. Then there's the tow truck. The Tardis is dimensionally trancendental so that could never have happened. There wasn't much suspense throughout the whole series. I preferred it to the McGann film and will probably watch them again some year unlike that. But I think RTD needs to go back to his vids to learn how to writer properly for it, how to have suspense, how to do cliffhangers, how to structure it, have explanations to what's going on, how to make it family viewing and CLEAN instead of putting his fantasies in like Jack's naked bum, how to rely less on effects and more on story and stop having so many bloody plotholes!

Well I must admit I did enjoy it...there are a few questions you could ask..thousands of Dalek ships..why not just blast the space station out of the sky instead of boarding it?..but all in all very good..It would seem the Doctor took all the TARDIS power back from Rose, because he knew it would kill her..but he would regenerate...I hope captain Jack comes back...I do agree thought that RTD needs to dampen down his ego a bit..and sew up those loopholes in the plots

Was Bad Wolf Rose or was it the Time Vortex I couldn't quite make my mind up as she looked into the vortex and got taken over?

The last episode put all the others in place, making one long story 13 episodes long, each containing thier own stories Trouble with that is it failed miserably with Trail of a Time Lord which was about half the length (if you chop these in two). That was a pile of cack and so was this. Mind you, unlike ToaTL at least this did have SOME good eps. LOL! Patsy

thousands of Dalek ships..why not just blast the space station out of the sky instead of boarding it? A signal was changed by the Big Brother controller guy, which would have allowed the Daleks to do this. Itwas briefly mentioned at the very start of the episode.

But what about the green thing controlling the news? Why was that there before? What has that to do with Bad Wolf or the Daleks? And where's Davros? I know Big Finish hate Davros, saying the Daleks became too pathetic. Looks like RTD has the same idea. And what happened to that 'last Dalek'? Wouldn't it have had some sort of contact? They are meant to have a distress signal built-in so the Emperor would have picked that up. Daleks have time travel technology so it would have been a cinch to pick it up. Too many unanswered questions.

Wouldn't it be nice if, while its off air, they would do a re-run of some of the old Doctor Who. ?
I bet it would get the viewers.

It would be great providing they don't do like last time and show a bit of Pertwee then skip to the over-repeated Genesis of the Daleks.

I just stumbled on this thread, and i wanted to ask... ....having watched all of the first series (which i was keenly awaiting being a fan of old), i was very annoyed to miss the final episode. I've read this thread, and although it gives me an idea of what happened, i'm still a bit confused (easily done in my case). Can anyone suggest a good site i could visit that will still have a full review of the final ep? (unless anyone here can still remember enough and actually fancies giving me a start to finish rundown ). Also, i'm sure they are currently repeating series one again on BBC3, does anyone know if this is correct, and if so what time/day is it on?? If anyone knows what ep they're up to if they are re-running that would be very helpful. Gosh, i don't ask much do i?!? ;D

Yes apparently BBC3 are repeating them, Shy Girl. They're also showing edited versions of Dr Who Confidential (though the TV Times for tonight lists it as the full version). The eps are on Sunday's at 7pm, followed by a 15 minuter version of DWC.
My eps 7-9 arrived today. I'm still working my way through Corrie so will watch that after. Then we have The Web Planet to look forward to. That was sarcasm. LOL!
