I think yes. RTD is so arrogant. He hated them (like the Time Lords) so they're ruled out. His argument new fans won't understand doesn't hold water considering he's brought back Sarah-Jane Smith and K9. Whole ep going to explaining that, is it? I don't think so. He is doing the show a great disservice. People my age wouldn't have known who William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton were. Doesn't stop The Three Doctors being a bloody good romp. Other people wouldn't have understood either when they did The Five Doctors and The Two Doctors. Bet if CE or David Tennant asked for a guest spot down the line (if it's still going) he'd have them and whatever Doctor story like a shot. You need the past Doctors to explain why it's currently on number 10 so you can see what they were like! Is he writing for the public or for himself here? Because he seems to forget, without those past Doctors, he wouldn't be writing for it now.

I'm going to go against you here and say that the whole idea of Two/Three/Five Doctors sounds stupid - and confusing. I do agree that having the Sarah-Jane/K9 episode is a bit hypocritical - but he did say that that was more to develop Rose and the Doctor's relationship rather than just be purely about SJ.
My biggest gripe when it comes to RTD is the fact that he takes all the credit for Doctor Who being so good and so popular. He is far from being the only one involved in bringing back the series. There is Dawn something or other, who I saw the other night on DW:Confidental and she seems to be equal in comparison to him. And why does HIS opinion matter so much? Does my head in!!!

Agreed there, Eithne. Especially all the crap about CE being the best Doctor. He also acts like his his show and he created it.
But getting back to the subject. New fans won't understand Daleks and Cybermen either and they have a looooooooooooooong history with DW going back 40+ years (Cybermen's 40th anniversary this year and also for the first regeneration).

I wouldn't mind Sylv or even McGann (give him a proper story). Colin's sadly too old, fat and balding now. LOL! Tom's, well, Tom. Looked daft on that CiN with his maroon scarf in 1993. What was it he said? "My dears" or something? Hardly! Peter could be good. This is RTD's chance to not make him so bloody wet. I don't like The Five Doctors at all. Too many characters crammed into 90 mins. Yet it always comes higher in polls than Three and Two. Maybe this is why he's not using the Brig - new fans won't understand. I have one word for all his pathetic excuses and it begins with b and ends in ocks.

Call me nitpicky; the idea sounds good but how can they bring them back when they are supposed to be the same person?

They managed it before. LOL! It's something to do with being in different timestreams is how they get around it.

In The Three Doctors, Gallifrey was under attack. Well sort of. Power was being drained through a black hole and this something was after the Doctor (who was exiled by them on Earth for being a naughty interferring boy). They couldn't help so plucked Doctor 2 out and sent him to Earth. Then, because they argued too much, they tried to get Doctor 1, only William Hartnell by that stage was far too ill so he pre-recorded his bits reading off cards and they acted to him on a screen. Once all the Doctors had saved the day from the mad Time Lord Omega (who had discovered the power for time travel and was abandoned in the black hole), the Time Lords returned the Doctor's freedom after returning the others to their timestreams.
The Five Doctors was a mess really. Someone on Gallifrey was plucking his former selves, companions and some enemies like Daleks and Cybermen and landing them on the Death Zone. The 4th Doctor was trapped because Tom Baker refused to be in it. And Hartnell's part was recast because he'd been dead 8 years by then. Turned out to be the Doctor's old friend and mentor Borusa (now President) who had a touch of the megalomaniacs and wanted immortality.
The Two Doctors wasn't too bad but very gruesome. Doctor 2 and Jamie went to try and prevent some time travel experiments but the station was attacked by Sontarans then abandoned. Doctor 6 and Peri went to see this Dastari fella and were shocked at the state of the place. They also found Jamie who had been living in the air conditioning. After a mind-link thing with his other self, the Doctor discovered they were all hiding in Seville. But Dastari had plans to turn Doctor 2 into an Androgum (they eat anything and everything). It was all very silly but not bad.

I agree with that. I have just seen the episode where they brought back Sarah Jane and K9, and thought it was good.
I vaguely remember Sarah Jane, but I thought it was good they did that, so why can't they bring back one of the Dr's? After all, they can do anything in today's age and technology.

And RTD said it didn't matter new fans wouldn't have seen that or understood so that screws his own argument.
