Diabolical. Had as much tension as knackered knickers. All the cliches in the book. Ripped off far too much. Over did everything as usual. We were sat there trying not to fall asleep wondering when it was going to start getting good so we couldn't guess what was coming. Fang Rock anyone for the diamond? If this is the standard for the rest of the series then it won't be on much longer.

To me the current series seems to be following the route of the previous series..off to another planet..then back to Victorian Britain for some ghosties and ghoulies (Last time it was Charles Dickens & poltergeists)...wouldn't you think after all this time the Doc and his assistants would have some sort of pager where if they get seperated and one of them got into trouble they could press an alarm button !!

Except last time it was that space station above Earth. The way Torchwood was introduced was just so bad. If this thing had been around for that long, UNIT would never have been created, the Doctor would have been found on the planet umpteen times and Rose would have been spied upon since birth! It's all nonsensical. Too many characters. Too much of the same thing (running up stairs, Ninja monks auditioning for the next BBC bumpers etc). It wasn't scary. It was predictable because we'd seen it all before. He rattled on about all these things on DWC about what makes scary then used every single cliche in the book!
I'm also getting pissed off with DWC. It's like 26 years never happened. "This is the best opening ever" says RTD of that overused, jerky crap tonight. Er, no it isn't. There's a load of better openings that have more mystery - The Green Death for one. Then there's all that guff about scary but only showing clips from the last series. I've seen a jelly more scary than this. Then there was the guff about the werewolf and the twat doing the growling talking like we all know what a werewolf sounds like! It's guesswork!!! And how brilliant it was the changing on CGI. Americian Werewolf In London did it miles better and it's clear RTD ripped it off from that.

I'll actually disagree and say that I thought it was far better than last week. But ninja priests was going a little too far.
And I totally agree about Torchwood, Patsy. Unless they give us a damn good explanation for how TW managed to miss the Doctor's visits to Earth between then and now it'll ruin the whole series. And these hints about what is in store is just getting stupid now.
I'm also going to agree with you Nick about the same sort of path as last series - e.g. they go far, far into the future (and meet Cassandra) before going back 150 years or so (and meet a major historical figure).
The Face of Boe has a big secret to tell the Doctor - chances are it'll be before the end of the series. Torchwood was formed by Queen Victoria - chances are we'll know a lot more about it before the end of the series, just in time for the actual spin off to begin!
Has RTD never heard of subtle hints? Admittidly there were some about Bad Wolf in last year's series, but has that been forgotten about this year.
I'm going to start rating episodes and would say that that was 6.5- 7/10 maybe. Last weeks would have been 4.5 - 5/10

How come if the Tardis can reach far flung Galaxies.............it never leaves Earth.

I am absolutely dreading this week's with SJS and K9. There's always too many characters, CGI more important than story, enormous plotholes and it's not long enough.
