Crap. It was boring, overly padded and sentimental. The CGI was absolutely awful. The devil thing reminded me of the special effects in the likes of Jason and the Argonauts and model spaceships from the original series were more convincing. Nothing was explained like why did it want the Doctor there. It didn't go into all the crew's so-called 'secrets'. "The little boy who lied." What the hell was that meant to be all about. Give me The Daemons any day.
1/10 and that's only because I didn't fall asleep - just!

Knew that it was too good to be true! The three of us all agreeing! Oh well.
The best episode of this series - without a doubt! I was amazed, although one thing did ruin it. I wasn't in until after 7 so videoed the episode. When I got back though I saw Doctor Who Confidental - which took a lot of the surprise out of the episode. Silly me!
Oh well, on to the episode. Every part of it was brilliant, with twists and turns galore - and the pace was breathtaking. It never let up.
Only little, little gripe I had was the Tardis appearing down the pit. How could it have gotten down there? But apart from that little thing it was definitely the best episode this series - maybe from the whole two series!!!
And what do you all make of the Beast's prediction that Rose will die? And of RTD saying that in episodes 12 & 13 all hell breaks loose? Could Rose be killed off in the final episode?

I loved it. Best two episodes for ages. It was great having episodes that were not in Wales, London, or Earth for that matter. I thought the Ood's were good and scarey, and the Beast brilliant. And please tell me I wasn't the only one that cheered when the Doctor spotted the Tardis.

The prediction about Rose reminded me of Adric saying he would die away from his home in E-space.
I said to my dad as soon as the Doctor fell down the pit he'd land on the Tardis. Well it was down there. I just guessed he's land on it at the wrong point.
DWC started early which really pissed me off. I worked out it must have been about 3 mins.
I must have missed out on the twists and turns and pace. It just went on forever with everything over used as is a habit in this revival. The Daemons is far superior despite the naff special effects (especially Azal) and the Maypole dancing ending.

We have just watched it on tape..we were clueless at the end..if the wee beastie was inside that chap with the blue top on..why didn't he kill the others and fly off in the spaceship himself..he didn't need them there...esp Rose....Why was the TARDIS in the pit??...feel very let down after last weeks promising start

Good points, Nick. More enormous plot holes that plague this revival. Last week was excellent. I couldn't believe I was so bored withint 5 minutes yesterday.

From the DWAS email update:
Ratings The Satan Pit achieved a new low for new Doctor Who in terms of actual viewers watching. The overnight figures indicate that 5.5 million viewers watched. That is down some 400,000 on last weeks episode. Whilst the hot weather across most of the UK clearly had a big impact, Doctor Who also suffered a drop in audience share to 35.6%, thought that in itself is still quite good. The show was the third most popular programme that day being beaten only by Casualty and the World Cup in terms of actual viewers and second in terms of audience share (with only the World Cup ahead of it).
