This was reported yesterday and strenuously denied by the Beeb which probably means it's true! If this happens they could at least bring back Kate O'Mara. But even without recasting, it flies in the face of RTD's 'last of the Time Lord' crap so new viewers will start to be confused.

What it probably means is that the Rani will be back, that Zoe Lucker auditioned but didn't get the part. Maybe she'll be back in the sixth, twelfth and thirteenth episodes of season three. It would continue the idea of having old enemies back.
A possible way of explaining her existence would be that she was trapped in an alternative universe like Rose is, although that might be a bit repetitive of this series - and when the Time Lords all died she ended up trapped there.

Yes but since when has being repetitive stopped RTD? LOL!
I get very sceptical when they vehemently deny things. Look at Billie's departure up to about 3 weeks before it was announced.
