OK, here is my slightly belated verdict on these two episodes. I missed all the airings of Episode 9, so can't comment on that.
Episode 10:
This was the best episode of the series IMO. It had the three characters from the 1950's arriving in modern day Cardiff, and really went through the very different emotions they had.
One of them committed suicide, unable to cope with seeing his young son as an old man - suffering from Alzeihmers. It was touching to see his reaction to the disease. His suicide scene was also very sad, with Jack sitting beside him in the car.
Emma's arrival into the 2000's was most entertaining of all, as Gwen tried desperately to educate her about modern men. She went on the best journey of all I think. I would have loved to have seen her journey in the modern world continue as she left to become a London fashion designer.
As for the other woman, all I can say is she definitely went against the stereotypical image of the 1950's being quiet with her risque sex scenes with Owen. They did portray the so-called Sexual Revolution well though I thought. It was sad at the end of the episode as she chose to travel to others places through the Rift rather than stay with Owen. She was perfect for him, I thought - a far better match than Gwen.
10/10
Episode 11:
This was fairly patchy in that it did show the emerging violent sub cultures well, through the cage baiting of the alien. However I thought the whole thing could have been done far better. Best part was the guy falling for Tosh's tricks, with the website and the phone call - but pity that was ripped off Hustle Series One. I admit that I did switch over for a few minutes, and missed little by the looks of it. Again the story could have been told in less than 50 minutes - as all it dealt with was Owen's loose canon side.
This dangerous and unpredicatable side really came out in the episode though, as he dealt with the loss of his lover. Also how bad is Rhys (Gwen's boyfriend). The way he shouted at her in the restaurant was shocking, swearing at her like that.
7/10 (above average, but not brilliant)
As for the final episodes of the series - Episodes 12&13 - they are being shown this Sunday night in a special double episode.
Apparently it is going to be brilliant, and will entertain people like Patsy - who've yet to treat themselves to Torchwood!!! I bet she'll watch - just out of curiosity and to tell me how wrong I am.
Anyway, don't read on if you don't want to find out a big spoiler for the episode.

****** One of the five main characters dies in the final episode of the series. I doubt that it is Captain Jack or Gwen, so that leaves Owen, Ianto and Tosh. I can't see them leaving Gwen as the only female lead, so that rules out Tosh - so it will be one of the other two probably. Also Ianto's girlfriend Lisa returns and the Rift transports two of the characters back in time. *******
