From Various sourcesThe latest rumour is that he is to be the next Doctor Who. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Oh purlease! What is wrong with execs these days? Why do they always have to go with a 'name' when casting (whether this rumour is true or not)? Why can't they just get a jobbing actor like in the old days?

Tony Blair. Catherine Tate. James Nesbitt.
The number of reasons for me not to watch again are mounting up.

I think RTD should be congratulating himself for successfully killing the revival. That takes real genius.

Well if he gets it then I will surely switch off. He was okay in Cold Feet, but I've never liked him in anything else he has been in. The basis for this rumour comes from the fact that he and Stephen Moffat are working on Jeykll at the moment, and Moffat is the favourite to take over the helm if RTD leaves at the end of series 4. And although it hasn't been confirmed most people think DT will leave then also, paving the way for a completely new team.

Perhaps his real plan is to wreck it so much during his last year a 5th series won't be commissioned so no one can make a better job of it. I don't believe a word RTD says these days. He said he was stepping back on series 2 or 3 and he didn't. He was just as prolific at mucking things up. Patsy

James Nesbitt is currently being interviewed on Virgin radio at the V Festival and said he is NOT doing DW. He said he was camping with friends in Brittany when he first heard about it, never liked it when he was younger but his daughter wants him to do it to get free merchandise. He doesn't fancy playing it as an 'Irish cheeky chappy'.

I don't fancy him playing it at all.

Nor me. He also said after I'd posted that he's often linked with things and the first time he hears about it is reading the paper.
