As the series 4 finale will be the last episode for a while, it is likely RTD will pull out all the stops for a big 3 parter comprising of 11, 12 and 13 of next years series.
Could Captain Jack, Rose and Kylie all be involved? Quite possibly...
THE SKINNY: Wow, first Donna’s back, then Martha – and now Jack? Maybe that rumor about a reunion of all the Doctor’s companions at the end of Season Four really is true, then…
Although there’s been no official release by the BBC, TORCHWOOD and occasional DOCTOR WHO star John Barrowman revealed in an interview with Thisisnottingham.co.uk that his character Captain Jack Harkness would indeed be returning for the show’s fourth season. ‘I'm not in the DOCTOR WHO Christmas special,’ he says, ‘but I come back in Series Four, which starts filming after Christmas.’ The second season of TORCHWOOD also starts airing on BBC2 in January.
Speaking of that Christmas special… Singer Kylie Minogue, who will star in the upcoming holiday special titled ‘Voyage of the Damned’, has told the Daily Express in an interview that ‘It’s not up to me, but I know there has been talk that my character could be reintroduced at a later date. We’ll have to wait and see.’ It sounds like she’d be up for it, as she also told the paper, ‘I’ve always been a fan of DOCTOR WHO and when you think how long it’s been running, it is a series that is a unique piece of television history.’
Y’know, if I hear next week that Billie Piper has signed onto the show again, I won’t be surprised by anything anymore.

What are the chances the Daleks and probably the Cybermen will feature, alongside a regenerated Master and a returned Rani?
Anyone want a bet over this being the series 4 finale storyline basically bringing back EVERYONE for one big, anti-climatic story?

Yes. Interesting. Still won't watch though. Not with the dreadful Catherine Tate.

LOL! I'll have to see. The problem too is I'm away 7 Saturday's from March to the end of June and if it's anything like the last series, I'll not get round to catching up with what I missed.

trouble is they are going for 'star' names all the time....I mean who had heard of Nicola Bryant,Janet Fielding,Matthew Waterhouse,Katy Manning,Lis Sladen,Sarah Sutton,Frazer Hines etc.. before Doctor Who.. the only assistant I can think of that was already well known was Bonnie Langford playing Mel

And we know what the public reaction was to her! While Bonnie Langford is a lovely woman, Mel is a pain in the behind.
William Russell was fairly well known from his Sir Lancelot days. Deborah Watling had quite a repuatation by the time she was cast. It's still nothing compared to the names today though. We've discussed before how RTD is worse than JNT with the 'names'. These aren't names - they're gimmicks. He must know the writing is crap so is boosting rating by using them - just like the 80s!

Peter Davison's daughter Georgia Moffett will play a key role in the upcoming fourth season of Doctor Who.
The show's producer Phil Collinson told Doctor Who Magazine about the decision to cast Moffett, whose father played the popular Time Lord in the classic series: "Fans might recognise that name... but that's not why we cast her. She's a very fine actor - in fact, she's been lined up for a very long time, since we auditioned Georgia for the Agatha Christie episode.
"But as soon as we saw her, we realised there was a much bigger and better part later on in the series... so Georgia kindly waited until the time was right. It's a role now one will ever forget!"
Davison recently returned to the role of the Fifth Doctor in the recent Children In Need mini-episode 'Time Crash', briefly sharing the Tardis with David Tennant's current incarnation of the Gallifreyan.
Doctor Who star Catherine Tate has confirmed she will leave the show at the end of the next season - and believes David Tennant might be joining her soon after.
BBC News reports that Tate, who will be reprising her role as companion Donna Noble in the fourth season, told Jonathan Ross on his Radio 2 show that she will not be staying on. She also suggested: "I think it's maybe David's last series."
However, Tate said that Tennant will "possibly" play The Doctor in the three specials commissioned for 2009 by the BBC. The lack of no new season that year is believed to have been caused by Tennant's theatrical commitments next year, which will greatly hinder his availability for filming.
The future of Doctor Who is assured until 2010, following a BBC announcement in September that the time-travelling drama will return for a full fifth season.

So, Georgia Moffett will play the Rani I'm guessing ("key role") and Catherine Tate could be killed off for the shock factor in the final episode of season 4. With all this I think it'd be great if David Tennant bowed out as the Doctor in the same episode, as it'll seem a bit weak if he goes at the last of the three specials.

I'm sure there are loads of viewers who would LOVE to be the one to kill off Catherine Tate. LOL!
Be interesting what Georgia Moffatt (can't believe DS spelled her name wrong) will play. Could be the Rani. Maybe once she's been in it she'll attend conventions with dad!
I thought that when I read it on Teletext. But maybe they'll want a fresh face for series 5.

Doctor Who's fourth season will reportedly feature an episode in which three former and current companions will join forces to save the TIme Lord.
According to The Sun, Rose (Billie Piper), Martha (Freema Agyeman) and Donna (Catherine Tate) will seek to fend off an alien invasion together with the help of the Tardis - but minus The Doctor.
An insider told the tabloid: "The chemistry between the three assistants is electric. It is so strong that we realised The Doctor could be in danger of getting in the way. So it is left to the girls to sort things out, having to save civilisation and The Doctor himself."
An episode in each of the past two seasons has barely featured The Doctor, in order to ease the filming schedule for David Tennant. Earlier this year, Blink featured a new heroine called Sally Sparrow investigating sinister statues, while Peter Kay starred as the Absorbaloff in 2006 episode Love And Monsters - with only a brief appearance by The Doctor in both stories.

Well we more or less knew this already. Only other question is will Jack return for this gathering of assistants?

More on Miss Moffatt (with the spelling mistake there again):
Former Doctor Who star Peter Davison's daughter Georgia Moffett is reportedly in the running to play the Time Lord's new companion.
Moffet's casting for a key part in the upcoming fourth season was announced in December, but the Daily Star claims that she may become a regular in the Tardis for the fifth season in 2010
However, according to the report she will have to fend off a challenge from 23-year-old actress Felicity Jones for the coveted companion role. Jones, who will also feature in the next season of Doctor Who in an episode revolving around Agatha Christie, is best known for her parts in The Worst Witch and Cape Wrath, alongside her role as Emma Grundy in long-running radio soap The Archers.
"Several names are in the frame," a source told the tabloid, "but Georgia and Felicity are currently on top of the shortlist - both have their merits."
