Pertwee stakes his claim Exclusive by Charlie Ghagan - Sean Pertwee, son of legendary Doctor Who actor Jon Pertwee, caused a stir at his local betting shop when he backed himself to be the next TV Time Lord.
"I'd had a couple of beers so I went into a bookies near me," explained Sean, 43, who lives in north London.
"I said, 'I'll have a nifty (£50) on me to be the next Doctor,' and the man went, 'Who the f*** are you?' But it turns out I was 12/1 or something."
"The thing is all these chavs, these kids with caps who live round my area, saw me, and thinking I must have inside knowledge, they all tried to put money on me as well," Sean added.
"I heard the head of the bookies ended up giving out no odds as he must have thought, 'You know something we don't.' The whole thing was embarrassing."
The current Doctor, David Tennant, is widely expected to leave the BBC1 show in 2009 after four years.
