Inside the Antique’s barn, Danny Daggert and Rodney Blackstock were watching intently a mysterious female customer. She was a short but pretty petite brunette very elegantly dressed in what were quite clearly designer labels. To Danny and Rodney it seemed she had looked at every item of stock in the barn and had yet to show any real interest in anything. Her handbag was a Gucci one. “I saw her first” whispered Danny to Rodney. “Ah but Danny boy who is the boss around here” Rodney grinned. Rodney decided it was time to approach the mystery woman and see if he could be of help to her.
RODNEY: Excuse me, but may I be of any assistance
WOMAN: (in a strong Yorkshire accent) No, I can see for myself thanks.
Rodney was taken a back for a second as he expected by her attire that she would be very well spoken.
RODNEY: Have you seen anything you like?
WOMAN: It’s nice in here int it? You have done it out well?
Rodney didn’t have time to answer because a drunken Shadrach stumbled into the room at that point and stumbled straight into the woman.
SHADRACH: (slurring) sor…sorr.sorry darling.
WOMAN: Ooh Yuk get him off me
The woman felt like fainting as Shadrach’s intoxicated breath breathed all over her. The smell from his clothes suggested he never changed them and she dread to think when he last had a bath.
SHADRACH: don’t I, I, kno-know you?
The woman gave him a long hard look before replying
WOMAN: I don’t want to know you.
RODNEY: Now Shadrach don’t go scaring the customers away.
Finally the woman managed to edge away from Shadrach and informed Rodney that she would buy some antique ear-rings along with various other items. Rodney couldn’t believe his luck as what she was buying were some of the most expensive items he had on sale.
WOMAN: Do you accept plastic?
But before Rodney had chance to answer she was waving a platinum card in her hand. Rodney took it off of her and couldn’t help but notice the name, “TINA KING” written on the front of the card. Rodney passed the card over to Danny to process before returning his attention back to Ms King.
RODNEY: So, are you visiting family?
TINA KING: (thinking for a second before answering) what’s it to do with you?
RODNEY: Sorry just making conversation
TINA KING: Oh yes well I do have family here as it happens and suppose I’ll pop in for a visit.
DANNY: (handing back the card) There’s a lot of you Kings around here, how many more of you are there?
RODNEY: Now Danny don’t be so nosy. King’s a very common name it might just be a co-incidence.
TINA KING: (Looking worried) The Kings you say?
DANNY: Yes, your lot are everywhere, will be running the whole village if they have their way?
Rodney looked sternly at Danny and he shut up.
TINA KING: Well nice chatting to you, (offering her hand to shake Rodney’s) sorry, I didn’t catch your name?
RODNEY: (taking his hand in hers and their eyes locking) Rodney Blackstock, the pleasure is all mine.
Tina withdrew her hand from Rodney’s and said with a seductive smile “if you can box up the items Rodney I’ll make arrangements to pick them up at some future point, but now I must run as I have some business to attend to.”
Tina King made her way out of the Barn only stopping to look long and hard at Shadrach now slumped into a chair. “Drunken old git” she muttered to herself as she left.
DANNY: That’s no co-incidence. She is one of them. I’m telling you Rodders. Just look at those cloths, loaded with money obviously and did you see her eyes go up at the mention of The Kings?
RODNEY: Well whoever she is I’m going to make it my business to find out. She looks smart, she is feisty, pretty and above all if she is a King she is very rich.
Rodney smiled to himself contentedly. He was sure Lady Luck was coming his way.

Part Two
Tina King came out of the antiques barn and surveyed her surroundings before finally stopping her gaze on The Woolpack. There in the doorway she spied a blonde being rather intimate with a man, a man Tina knew well. “Matthew” she muttered. Matthew gazed up from his embrace and his eyes met with Tina’s.
LOUISE (to Matthew): So are we still on for tonight.
MATTHEW: Um yes urr well actually I don’t know. Look I have to go something has just come up.
LOUISE: But Matt…
MATTHEW: I’ll be in touch.
Matthew sprinted towards Tina who was standing by a very expensive and stylish looking red sports car.
LOUISE (forlornly): You mean someone has come up.
Louise went into the Woolpack as Matthew reached Tina’s side.
TINA KING: Hello Matty, the bloke in the Antique’s barn told me you lot were in town.
MATTHEW: What are you doing here Tina.
TINA KING: Now, now is that any way to talk to family?
MATTHEW: You are not our family, at least not anymore.
TINA KING: Okay, seriously I didn’t know you were here honestly. I perhaps wouldn’t of come if I did however a girl has to earn a living and I have some business to attend to so…
MATTHEW: Judging by that car and the cloths you are doing alright
TINA KING: I can’t complain I suppose.
MATTTHEW: Look Tina you know what Dad said that if he ever saw you again he would kill you?
TINA KING: It isn’t my fault that the conniving cow told him all those lies. Nor is it my fault her spineless husband would not stand up for the truth.
MATTHEW: Well the “conniving cow” is now out on her ear because Jimmy is divorcing her but I don’t think that will soften Dad any. It took him long enough to forgive me.
TINA KING: (laughing) No, never, big ears finally ditched Saint Sadie? You’re lying, unless of course she has got her eye on the bigger prize now?
MATTHEW: You mean Dad? What no.
Both laughed
TINA KING: So what really is the family doing here in this sleepy little village?
MATTHEW: Empire building and if we have our way it won’t be a sleepy village for much longer.
TINA KING: Oh ay, Kingsville here we come.
MATTHEW: You know us
The pair of them laughed again as all tension at initially seeing each other eased off.
MATTHEW: You know Tina it really is good to see you again and I hope you are going to stick around for a while?
TINA KING: May be…May be not!
MATTHEW: And with Sadie out of the picture, just may be in time there will be a place for you again at King and Sons.
Tina looked away, feeling uncomfortable at the thought of that.
TINA KING: I really now must be going.
MATTHEW: Where?
TINA KING: Somewhere but nowhere in particular.
MATTHEW: Before you go how is Frankie?
Tina’s eyes widened
TINA KING: Don’t you bring him into this, and don’t you mention his name again, you hear?
MATTHEW: What, I’m only asking
TINA KING: Well don’t.
MATTHEW: But he was
TINA KING: He’s nothing to you.
With that Tina climbed into her car and started her engine as if she was about to drive off. Matthew looked thoughtful for a moment before walking off in the direction of Pear Tree Cottage.
With Matthew gone Tina stopped the engine of her car. Picked up a bunch of flowers that had been sitting on her passenger seat and climbed out.

PART 3
Tina King made her way to the village cemetery. There before her was the grave of Mary King, but she wasn’t interested in that. No she was looking for someone quite different and at last she saw it:
“Francis Ronald Tate Born: 1/10/1937 Died: 27/05/1997 Aged 59 Loving Father of Chris, Zoë and James”
Tina read out loud. Gently she laid the flowers on the grave and a tear formed in her eye. “Sorry I wasn’t here. I owe you everything. You saved my life from drudgery and because of you I am the person I am today. Thank You!”
Tina stayed by the grave for a moment or two before standing up. She wiped her eyes but just as she was about to leave she saw another grave, this time belonging to “Christopher Francis Tate”. Tina was in a state of shock. According to his grave stone he wasn’t even 40 years old. “My, things must really be changed around here” she thought. She wondered how Chris had come to die so young. “Perhaps someone had murdered him?” She thought. She couldn’t feel any sorrow for Chris’s death as he was a vile man in her opinion and whatever happened she felt that he probably deserved it.
Tina headed back out towards her car. Tina started the engine and drove through the village slowly taking in the houses. Then her eye caught the same blonde she had seen before with Matthew, but this time she was holding hands and walking along the road side with Terry Woods. “There was no mistaking who he was” thought Tina. A bit plumper, a few more wrinkles and a lot greyer, but all things considered Terry was as cute as he ever was. Tina couldn’t help wondering who that blonde was with him. If she was cheating on poor Terry, Tina would have to have words. An old baboon Terry Woods might have been, and a sucker for any woman who fed him a line, but all things considered Terry Woods heart was in the right place. Tina had fond memories of Terry and she would make sure he wasn’t going to get hurt by anyone not even Matthew and that blonde bimbo.
Tina continued along towards Robblesfield way. “It was time to face the family” she thought to herself. Then she turned down a lane. She took a long hard stare at Holdgate’s Farm and wondered “if the Glovers still lived there?”, before continuing on up to Wishing Well Cottage. The car pulled up outside the dilapidated barn that the inhabitants of this dwelling called home. Tina was about to get out when her mobile rang. She checked the display and it said “Frank” so she picked it up.
TINA KING: Hi, Frankie, look I don’t really have time right now, can I call you back… yes I know darling… we will be together soon... yes I know.. It will be different this time …. I promise?
Tina hung up the receiver and stepped out the car. “What a mess” Tina thought as she surveyed the junk yard. “Well here goes” she said to herself as she wandered up to the front door. Tentatively she knocked on the knocker but no one answered. Tina knocked again as she was sure she could hear movement inside but still no answer. She tried a third time and bingo the door flew open and their stood a blonde girl of around 6 or 7 years of age.
BELLE: Who are you
Tina was taken a back, and was about to speak when Debbie came down the stairs.
DEBBIE: Belle what have we told you, you must never answer the door.
BELLE: (whiney) But you were upstairs.
TINA KING: Belle, is it?
DEBBIE: yes that is her name but what is it to you?
TINA KING: And you would be?
DEBBIE: Look whoever you are we are not interested.
Debbie went to shut the door but Tina caught it
TINA KING: I’m looking for the Dingles and judging by the junk yard out there they still live here
DEBBIE: Who wants to know you aren’t the police are you or social services?
TINA KING: Certainly not
BELLE: My name is Belle Dingle and that’s Deb…
DEBBIE (through gritted teeth) shut up Belle
Tina looked lovingly down at the little girl and said “so this is the Dingles then?” Belle nodded. With that Tina barged past both a startled Belle and Debbie and into the house. Tina ran her fingers across the surfaces and collected dust on them as she went along. She took in the huge amount of washing up in the sink before commenting “some things never change.” With that she plonked herself down on the sofa and kicked off her stylish high heeled shoes.
TINA KING: How about a nice cup of tea? On second thought’s looking at that ten years’ worth of washing up I’ll perhaps not bother.
DEBBIE: Look who are you? If you don’t tell me I’ll go get Eric Pollard his factory is just down the way.
Tina laughed. “Pollard! That rattle snake still knocking around.
DEBBIE: You know him?
TINA KING: Yes so why don’t you stop wasting time and just go get him. It will be interesting to see him again.
Debbie took Belle by the hand and edged towards the door.
TINA KING: While you are at it you can tell him the name is Tina, Tina King.
DEBBIE: You are a King?
TINA KING: Well that’s what I go by these days, however I was born Tina Marie Dingle!

PART 4
Louise Appleton made her way down Emmerdale’s main street towards The Woolpack, the pub she joint owned with Diane Sugden. As she passed Pear Tree Cottage Matthew and Jimmy King were on the way out.
JIMMY: Hi Louise we are just off for a liquid lunch at your place
LOUISE: Hello boys, surprised Matthew you haven’t got your girlfriend with you?
Matthew squirmed while Jimmy looked puzzled
JIMMY: Mr. Work No Play has a girlfriend that’s news to us.
LOUISE: Yes pretty petite brunette.
Matthew tried to signal to Louise to shut up
LOUISE: She was here earlier, you must introduce us later
MATTHEW: She’s no one just a business associate.
LOUISE: Looks like big business with that nifty red sports car and its personalised number plate T.1.N.A
Matthew looked down trying to ignore Jimmy’s stare.
JIMMY: Oh Dad’s going to love this (he smirked)
Meanwhile back at the Dingle Homestead
BELLE: Are you really a Dingle?
TINA: Yes,
DEBBIE: You don’t dress like a Dingle and you have a smart car out there.
TINA: (getting irritated) I really am a Dingle, born and bread in this very house.
Tina stood up from the sofa and put her shoes back on as if she was about to leave
BELLE: You said you were Tina King?
DEBBIE: Quiet Belle. So what are you a King or a Dingle?
TINA: Both.
DEBBIE: Impossible
TINA: No
Debbie muttered to herself “That explains why they treated Mum so bad.”
DEBBIE: If you are a Dingle then how come Granddad has never mentioned you?
TINA: (sarcastically) Your Granddad? And who may he be?
Debbie was about to answer but from upstairs came a baby’s cry
DEBBIE: Look I’ll be right back, I have to go and see to my daughter.
TINA: DAUGH-TER! You look too young.
Debbie shrugged and went upstairs. With her gone, Tina beckoned a shy Belle to join her on the sofa.
TINA: Don’t be shy, I won’t bite. I’m probably your aunty you know.
BELLE: I’m Belle
TINA: So are you and Debbie sisters?
Belle laughed. “No silly.” I’m her aunty.
Tina rolled her eyes. She knew her family were nuts but this was taking things to the extreme.
TINA: (puzzled) You are her aunty?
BELLE: Her mummy is “cousin Charity” and my mummy is Lisa.
TINA: (squinting) Charity! Charity Dingle.
Belle nodded and Tina looked thoughtful
TINA: Charity isn’t here is she?
Belle shook her head.
Tina thought out loud. “Charity would be too young to be that girl’s mother surely? It explains a lot though. Like mother like daughter? Poor kid she hasn’t got any hope. Slapper Charity makes me look like Mary Poppins.”
Belle smiled not really understanding what Tina meant as Tina’s mobile rang again.
TINA: Look Frankie I told you I’d ring you later! Yes I know you miss me but I promise we will talk about it.
Tina hung up the phone and looked back at Belle
TINA: That was my little boy, about your age I’d guess, perhaps a bit older?
Just then the knocker on the Dingle front door went.
DEBBIE (from upstairs) Don’t answer that Belle, I’ll be down in a minute after I’ve done this nappy
TINA: Don’t worry Belle I’ll get it.
Tina went to the Dingle front door and opened it to reveal Rodney on the doorstep.
RODNEY: What a surprise, we meet again Ms King
TINA: Yes, Rodney isn’t it?
They smiled at each other.
TINA: No one’s home other than Belle and her sister Debbie upstairs
BELLE: I'm her aun-ty
TINA: Whatever, this family just gets worse
Rodney chuckled “You can say that again. Anyway I’m looking for Zak. Zak and Shadrach were supposed to be helping me in my vineyard today however you saw the state of Shadrach in the antique’s barn earlier.
TINA: I sure did, doesn’t look fit for anything
RODNEY: As to Zak, well he didn’t show.
TINA: I guess some things never change.
RODNEY: You know Zak?
TINA: Yes, I was waiting for him as a matter of fact but I’m about to give up
RODNEY: (stepping closer towards Tina with a gleam in his eye) Well would you … umm…ur… like to go for a drink while you are waiting for him?
TINA: That sounds nice and you can tell me all about this vineyard of yours?
RODNEY: (flirtatiously) Would you like to see it Ms…?
TINA: Tina please, the name is Tina and I would like that very much.
RODNEY: Okay, we’ll drive our cars back to Mill Cottage because I have to go home to pick something up and then we can take one car up to the vineyard.
TINA: You live at Mill Cottage now?
Rodney nodded.
TINA: I really guess some things have changed, that was in the Tate family for years and now they are selling Home Farm too!
RODNEY: Are they? I didn’t know that.
Tina smiled flirtatiously at Rodney before turning back to face Belle.
TINA: Tell your sister I’ll catch up with you all later.
BELLE: Im her aunty!
Tina rolled her eyes and walked out of the Dingle house closing the door behind her.
TINA: Now Rodney explain that to me. That little girl must only be 6 or 7 years old and the other one…,
RODNEY: Debbie,
TINA: Yes Debbie, aged about 15. So how is Belle her aunty?
RODNEY: Ah, its those in-breeding Dingles. Belle is Zak’s daughter while Debbie is his granddaughter.
TINA: Zak! They are Zak’s? But Belle said Debbie is Charity’s daughter and Zak doesn’t have a daughter called Charity.
RODNEY: It’s a very long story, the stuff of soap operas.
As Tina got into her car, her mind was in a whirl. “That slut Charity must of seduced one of me brothers” she thought. They could of only been teens but which one was it? “Dopey Butch? Thug Ben, or Simple Sam?” Tina started the engine of her car and as she drove out of the Dingles she made a mental note of Pollard’s factory, something she hadn’t noticed when driving in. “Things were definitely different” she thought. Pollard having a business on Dingle land just seemed so odd, certainly something she would have to investigate. However Pollard was just one of a growing list of things that had taken Tina’s interest in the few short hours since her return to Emmerdale. Before she even considered him there was Terry and the blonde girl, the presence of the Kings and then there was bimbo Charity and which brother she had taken advantage of. Finally of course at the top of Tina’s agenda, there was the real reason for her return to Emmerdale. All those other things were placed on hold for now however as Tina had a new interest. Yes Rodney Blackstock! Who exactly was he? Did he have as much money as her or was he even wealthier?
Tina returned her attention back on the matter in hand, Rodney Blackstock and followed Rodney’s car into Emmerdale village and towards Mill Cottage.

Part 5
Above the café, Donna, Marlon and Viv were huddled outside Kelly’s bedroom door. Viv hissed “you do it Donna.” “No you” whispered Donna. “Well it will have to be Marlon then” squawked Viv. “I’m not doing it, I’m not family!” exclained Marlon. “Well neither am I” declared a defiant Viv as both she and Marlon glared at poor Donna. “Okay, I’ll do it seeing as no one else is going to” said Donna.
Marlon and Viv stood back as Donna tentatively knocked on Kelly’s door.
KELLY: Who is it and what do you want?
DONNA: It’s me, Donna can I come in?
KELLY: Yeah
Donna walked in and surveyed the scene that greeted her. Donna just did not know where to look. Kelly was standing in the middle of the room stark naked bar a pair of flimsy knickers and with no shame on her face whatsoever.
KELLY: I just can’t decide what to wear?
Kelly picked up a tarty looking outfit from the bed
KELLY: What do you think of this Donna?
DONNA (embarrassed) uh..uh oh umm, yes that’s nice
KELLY: Okay you don’t like that one what about one of the others, take a look through
Donna didn’t know where to start as the room was a total mess. Scattered across the floor and on and in the bed were clothes of all descriptions, shoes, CDs, knickers, perfume, makeup and cheap jewellery.
DONNA: I see you are making yourself at home?
KELLY: Oh yeah, it’s great to be back. I’ve really missed y’all. And y’know if you want to borrow any of this stuff (pointing to the disarray) you only need to say.
DONNA: (awkwardly) oh, yes that’s very kind…
KELLY: Well what are sisters for? We’ve been always close and sisters share everything.
Kelly continued to show Donna various outfits asking for her opinion on each and every one before Donna finally remembered her mission of the day and plucked up the courage to ask
DONNA: So, I suppose you will be going back to London soon as you have been here two weeks now?
KELLY: Oh, no, not at all, I thought I’d stay here a while, particularly with Scott being ill.
From outside the door where Viv and Marlon had been eves-dropping, their faces dropped while inside the room Donna could barely hide her disappointment as she worried about this latest turn of events.
DONNA: Oh, uh, that’s nice. Well I best be going now and let you get dressed.
KELLY: Okay. Catch you later sis, oh and before you go, take this
Kelly handed Donna one of the most ghastly looking outfits from on the bed
KELLY (smiling sweetly): You can ‘ave that. I think it would suit yuh.
DONNA: Oh right thanks.
Donna couldn’t get out of the room fast enough.
Over at Mill Cottage Nicola was in a huff. “I’m sorry Simon but no way is your mother moving in with us when we do (with gritted teeth) EVENTUALLY get a house of our OWN.” Simon didn’t get chance to answer because Rodney walked in at that moment with Tina.
RODNEY: Now Tina you make yourself comfortable on the sofa while I just do a few things and then we will get off to the vineyard.
Tina sat herself down on the sofa and smiled sweetly at Rodney.
NICOLA: Dad, you never guess (pointing at Simon) what this idiot expects now…
SIMON: Oh, come on Frosty let’s not drag your father into it.
Simon and Nicola continued to argue while Tina looked embarrassed.
RODNEY: Now, Nicola, we have company
NICOLA: I noticed where did you drag her from
RODNEY: Come on Princess don’t be rude, this is Tina King. Tina this is my daughter Nicola.
TINA: I guessed that. My dad used to call me Princess?
Tina and Nicola reluctantly shook hands and Simon cheerily looked on.
Meanwhile at Wishing Well Cottage Debbie and Belle were never so relieved to see Lisa return home.
BELLE: A strange woman came to the house while you were out Mummy. She said she was called Tina King
LISA: Well what did she want.
DEBBIE: (with folded arms and looking fed up) She also said she was called Tina Dingle!
Lisa’s eyes widened. “No, it can’t be” she said.
DEBBIE: You know her?
LISA: Yes, well sort of. Your granddad and I had only been seeing each other three or four months when she left Emmerdale.
DEBBIE: Who is she then? She didn’t seem like the usual Dingle drop out, scrounger, down and out we usually get.
Lisa didn’t answer straight a way, she went over to a cupboard and started rummaging around until finally pulling out a photo album. Lisa then proceeded to look through the album before pulling out a photo and handing it to Debbie.
LISA: According to the back that was taken in 1995 outside this house.
Debbie looked at the picture. She recognised Sam and remarked how young he looked, she also recognised Butch as no Dingle was ever allowed to forget him and Debbie had seen the portrait of him on the mantle piece and in between them was Tina.
DEBBIE: That’s her.
LISA: Are you sure?
DEBBIE: Absolutely. Okay she looks a lot cleaner, smarter and richer now than she does in that photo but there is no mistaking that is her.
“Oh my” said Lisa as she took the photo back off Debbie. “I need to sit down and you need to tell me absolutely everything.” Debbie and Belle proceeded to fill Lisa in on all the events of the afternoon and Lisa silently listened. When they had finished Debbie again asked who Tina was.
LISA: Your aunty Debbie, Belle’s sister or half-sister if you want to get technical.
DEBBIE: I don’t understand, I thought Belle was Granddad’s only daughter?
LISA: (looking at Belle) Now Belle, why don’t you go and play with this colouring set I bought you today. I need to talk to Debbie.
Belle shrugged before saying “Oh, Okay” and went upstairs.
DEBBIE: So what is the big secret. Is Tina a murderer or something?
LISA: Oh no nothing like that exactly but Belle being so young, no point confusing her especially if Tina doesn’t come back.
DEBBIE: According to Belle she went off with Rodney somewhere.
LISA: Oh that figures. Head off with the local entrepreneur.
DEBBIE: I thought that is what my Mum did?
LISA: Your mum is one thing but Tina is quite another. There has never been a Dingle like her and I suspect never is there likely to be one again.
DEBBIE: So go on spill
LISA: Tina was the apple of your granddad’s eye. His only daughter by his 1st wife Nellie. He was so proud of Tina. The only Dingle to sit lots of GCSEs and pass the lot and do A-Levels. Even if she didn’t finish her A-Levels that didn’t matter to your granddad. She was blessed with brains and it was always obvious she was going to go places. Then she got a job as PA to Frank Tate
DEBBIE: Any relation to Zoe and Chris by any chance?
LISA: Yes Frank was the founder of the Tate Empire and father to Chris and Zoe. Some people said Tina and Frank were lovers and he was lining her up to be his 3rd wife. As you can imagine as much as your Granddad hated the Tates, and believe me he hated the Tates long before Butch’s death. However to have his only daughter in Home Farm and as Lady of the manor could have had its advantages.
DEBBIE: So what happened?
LISA: We don’t really know. One Christmas Eve she came home from work said hello to everyone then went outside with cousin Mandy. Next minute they heard music blaring from Tina’s car, an expensive car that Frank had bought her. M-People’s “Moving on up, moving on out” was playing. Your granddad always remembered that because of what followed it was so apt. Cousin Mandy then came in and said Tina had left. Gone to Birmingham to start a new life and wouldn’t be back. Well your granddad didn’t really believe she wouldn’t be back, none of us did. You don’t just walk out on your family like that. Especially the Dingles.
DEBBIE: But Tina did leave the Dingles and didn’t come back and as the song suggests she moved on out and up.
LISA: Yes, we never heard from her again, not a card, at birthdays or at Christmas or a letter or a phone call. We could never tell her we were married or about Belle’s birth or even Butch’s death. No one knew how to contact her. So to come back right now is just beyond me?
DEBBIE: So she won’t know about me then.
LISA: (shrugging) She won’t even know about your Dad being her…
CAIN: Her Dad being what?
Both Lisa and Debbie jumped and turned round to see Cain standing at the door. They had been so deep in conversation they had not heard him arrive home.
LISA: Oh Cain love, it’s our Tina, she’s come back to Emmerdale.
DEBBIE: Yes Lisa was just filling me in on who she was.
CAIN: Not another Dingle to sponge off of us, its bad enough that Delilah is now here.
DEBBIE: Believe me Tina won’t be sponging off of us.
CAIN: Cousin Tina, who would of thought. Not heard that name in years and not seen her since we were kids and she was an annoying little brat.
DEBBIE: Except she isn’t your cousin, she is your sister
LISA: And she won’t know that either, which is what we were discussing when you came in.
Cain looked thoughtful
DEBBIE: And she is called “King” now so that spells an annoying grownup.
CAIN: Really, how interesting. Will you excuse me I’ve just remembered something I’ve got to do.
Before Lisa and Debbie could get a word in edgeways. Cain had left the house.
LISA: Oh now what’s he up too.
DEBBIE: Who knows and who cares. All I can think about is this Tina and poor Granddad. Will she be still in Emmerdale or will she disappear and turn up again in another few years when we least suspect it.
LISA: What could she possibly want after all this time?
DEBBIE: What will Granddad do?
LISA: I just don’t know. As far as he is concerned she might as well be dead. Tina broke his heart leaving like that, they had been so close. After a while he stopped talking about her.
DEBBIE: That’s awful.
LISA: You know one of the reasons your Granddad thinks so much of you Debbie love is because you remind him so much of her. All her good qualities! You have brains and you look a lot like her. The only time he has mentioned Tina in recent years is to remark that like her you are going places.
DEBBIE: Except she didn’t get saddled with a baby at fifteen.
LISA: No, she did far worse at seventeen and that's without turning her back on her family at eighteen.
Lisa got up and paced the room.
DEBBIE: What’s wrong?
LISA: Oh, I don’t know Debbie love. I’m worried about your granddad
DEBBIE: In case she hurts him again?
LISA: See, I told you, you were smart. You can even read minds.
Debbie smiled.
LISA: I’ve been thinking about it and I don’t think we should say anything to your granddad when he finally does bother to come home.
DEBBIE: In case she disappears again, before he gets chance to see her?
LISA: Exactly! I just don’t know what it would do to him. Honestly Debbie that girl broke his heart in two like no other person could do.
DEBBIE: But what about m’Dad and Belle? They know?
LISA: We will just have to cross that bridge if we come to it. Cain is in his own world most of the time anyway and as to Belle, I’m sure she won’t remember much of it tomorrow.
DEBBIE: Well whatever it takes Lisa, we must protect Granddad.
Lisa nodded and the two hugged.

PART 6
Rodney and Tina were pulling into Mill Cottage, they had had a good time at the vineyard, both got on so well that Rodney was certain he was attracted to Tina and he felt sure she was feeling the same. However since receiving a phone call on her mobile on the journey home she had gone very quiet and was looking quite glum.
RODNEY: (To Tina) Is everything okay? You have been very quiet since your phone call.
TINA: Yes, okay I suppose. I don’t know really. It was my son’s boarding school, there’s some problem and I have to report there in the morning. I hope he hasn’t got himself excluded? I can’t have him with me full time.
Rodney brought the car to a total stop outside his front door.
RODNEY: You know Tina, I really enjoyed this afternoon,
TINA: Yes, so did I and we should do it again sometime. Besides you never did tell me the full story of that Debbie and Belle.
RODNEY: And you never told me how you know Zak?
They both smiled at each other.
RODNEY: Anyway, we are here, why don’t you come in for a while.
Tina glanced up at the house and could see Nicola standing at a front window with a frosty frown on her face.
TINA: I don’t think so, not tonight. I get the feeling your daughter doesn’t like me very much.
Tina pointed towards the window.
RODNEY: What Nicola. No she is like that with everyone.
TINA: Well I should really be checking into the B&B.
RODNEY: Oh okay, but how about once you have done that I pick you up later and we go into Hotten for a meal as you will have to eat.
TINA: That sounds lovely Rodney honestly, but not tonight because not only do I have to see a headmistress tomorrow morning, but I also I have an appointment with Zoë Tate in the afternoon and I’m very tired.
RODNEY: Zoë?
TINA: Yep, the whole reason for me coming here.
Tina got out of Rodney’s car and thanked him for a lovely day and promised they would meet again soon. She looked up to the window and saw that Nicola was still standing there spying on them. Tina looked back to Rodney and leant in for a kiss. All witnessed by Nicola.
NICOLA (from inside the house) Great, another one has her claws into him.
SIMON: (reading a newspaper on the sofa while munching on an apple) What’s that pet
NICOLA: That Tina person, she’s already getting her claws into my Dad.
SIMON: I don’t know, she seemed okay to me.
NICOLA: Men! You are all the same. A pretty thing in a skirt and you become blind sops. Well I’m not staying here and listening to him wax lyrical about Ms King all evening. We are going to the pub.
SIMON: Oh Nic...
Nicola picked up her hand bag and headed for the door. She looked back “Come on Simon, we need to find Paul.” With that Nicola was through the door and it was all Simon could do but to follow.
Tina was driving off and Rodney was coming into the house as Nicola was leaving but she just glared at him without saying a word.
Over in The Woolpack the regulars were gathering for drinks after a hard day’s work. In one booth were Ashley and Laurel. In another were Jack and Robert Sugden. Edna Birch, Jarvis Skelton, Len Reynolds and Pearl Ladderbanks occupied another. Propping up the bar were Dr. Forsythe, Eric Pollard, Danny Daggert and a few others. Behind the bar were Diane Sugden, Paul Lambert and Bob Hope. Jimmy King had just walked in.
Jack strolled up to Jimmy “I want a word with you.”
JIMMY: Oh yeah right, we have nothing to say to each other.
DIANE: Now come on boys don’t start anything.
JIMMY: I’m not I’ve just come in for a drink after a hard day’s graft.
JACK: I don’t want to start anything either but I’m sick of this idiot doing 120mph through the village.
JIMMY: What harm was I doing? I’m a careful driver?
JACK: Careful driver my foot, tell that to the sheep. You nearly had a few over.
JIMMY: Well at least my son isn’t a home wrecker
JACK: You what
JIMMY: And the other a kiddie fiddler.
Jack lifted his fist up and thumped Jimmy in the jaw.
BOB: Now that’s enough you two, come on, calm down.
“I’ve done nothing wrong” exclaimed Jimmy. “Everyone knows Andy Sugden got that under-aged Dingle girl pregnant.
Everyone in the pub had all been listening to the exchange.
EDNA: Well, hate to say it but Mr. King does have a point.
JARVIS: Well you know what they say, there’s nowt as queer as folk
PEARL: And those Kings all need bringing down a peg or two whatever the rights and wrongs of the antics of those Sugdens.
BOB: Now come on boys let’s take this outside.
JIMMY: Don’t worry I’m going.
Jack joined Robert back in their booth and Matthew King arrived at that moment and clapped his hand on Jimmy’s shoulder “Where are you going Jimbo?” “Somewhere where I can get a quiet drink” replied Jimmy.
MATTHEW: Glad I caught you, let us go into Hotten, my shout.
JIMMY: Yeah right, why would you want to do that?
MATTHEW: Why can’t brothers go out together and spend an evening having fun.
JIMMY: If this is about Tina, I haven’t told Dad - yet!
MATTHEW: This isn’t about Tina, I’m as surprised as you are that she is here, but now you mention it is there any real reason to let the old man know?
Jimmy rolled his eyes “I knew it. Well I’m staying here. Another one, Bob.”
While all this had been going on in the pub, Tina pulled up outside the B&B blaring out on her car stereo Britney Spears ‘My Prerogative’ br] “They can never take away your truth but the question is can you handle mine…they say I’m crazy, I really don’t care that’s my prerogative…They say I’m nasty but I don’t give a damn…”
Betty Eagleton was coming out of Keeper’s Cottage just as Tina was climbing out of her car in front of the B&B. Both saw each other and these two old nemesis eyes locked for a second. Tina’s car stereo was still blaring
“Everybody’s talking, all this stuff about me, why don’t they just let me live, I don’t need permission to make my own decisions that’s my prerogative…..”
BETTY: Oh my, no this can’t be, oh my. The worst Dingle ever and she’s back.
Betty clutched her chest as she watched Tina walk into the B&B.
BETTY: I need a drink. Please God it can’t be true, that killer isn’t really back is she?
Inside the shop Viv was stock taking at the end of the day when Kelly came bouncing down the stairs and headed for the door dressed in just a shocking pink bikini and a pair of high heels.
VIV: Where the heck do you think you are going?
KELLY: Just for a walk. Got a problem with that Viv?
VIV: Well, as a matter of fact I have. You can’t go out dressed like that.
KELLY: I’m ‘ot besides I don’t see why not they all do in Spain and on the French Riviera.
VIV: This isn’t France or Spain or some bimbo beech.
KELLY: No it is sleepy old Emmerdale but it doesn’t change a thing. I’m burnin’ up so if that is all I am going for a walk…
VIV: No it isn’t all, I have a reputation in this village you know.
Kelly rolled her eyes. “Look Viv it is no one’s business what I do and how I dress, besides they probably all need something to gawp at to cheer their dreary lives up. Consider it as I’m doing them a favour. You provide a service with this shop, well I’m providing them with one too.”
Viv couldn’t believe what she was hearing and stopped listening to most of what was being said. However she did catch the end of Kelly’s conversation. “It is summer and I didn’t spend £3,000 on this belly stud just to cover it up with cloths.” With that Kelly turned on her heel and left the shop leaving Viv open mouthed.
Betty was still in a state of shock as she hobbled into The Woolpack while inside the B&B Tina was pressing the reception bell. After what seemed like an eternity and now Tina was quite angry, Louise appeared.
LOUISE: Sorry to keep you waiting. Can I help you?
TINA: Oh yes, I want a room for a couple of nights, but if the service is always going to be this slow I perhaps will find somewhere more classy to stay.
LOUISE: (holding her patience) Oh sorry, no we are not and yes we do have rooms if you would like to give us a go.
Tina looked at her watch, “Oh okay, it’s getting late now so I’ll take whatever you have. You are only on trial mind.”
LOUISE: So can I take your name and have you fill this out (handing Tina a form).
TINA: It’s Tina King…
At that moment Terry Woods came down the stairs. “Another customer?” he asked.
LOUISE: Yes this is Tina Ki…
TERRY: Tina Dingle, is that really you or my eyes deceiving me?
Terry ran down the rest of the stairs and took Tina in his arms and flung her around in a circle. They hugged and kissed as old friends are inclined to do.
LOUISE: (looking jealous) She said her name was King.
TERRY: No, you must be mistaken, this is Tina Dingle a very old and dear friend of mine.
TINA: Don’t you mean lover Terry?
LOUISE: (Looking crest fallen) I see.
TINA: Actually Louise is right, my name is now King, but enough of that.
TERRY: Oh Tina, it is so great to see you again. What are you doing tonight, we no doubt have a lot to catch up on. How about we go into Hotten for a meal. Have you eaten?
TINA: No I haven’t, and yes that would be nice why don’t we.
TERRY: How about it Louise, the three of us can go to that new fancy restaurant?
LOUISE: I think not, it is quite clear you two have a lot to catch up on.
TINA: We sure do, never mind all my news Terry but what are you doing here in the B&B? Shouldn’t you and “Big Al” be running the pub.
TERRY: I own this place. And no arguments you can stay here free for as long as you like.
Louise frowned.
TINA: Do you, then you need to do something about your staff (looking directly at Louise).
TERRY: Ah, umm, forgive me but this is Louise Appleton, my partner and co-owner of this place.
TINA: Partner? What kind of partner (looking at Louise quizzically).
TERRY: You know, business, pleasure, I’m sure I don’t need to draw a worldly-wise gal like you a picture.
TINA: Oh really? And that would be why she was all over my ex-husband today was it then?
LOUISE: Matthew is your ex-husband?
Louise then put her hand to her mouth, realising what she had just said. Terry just looked at Louise while Tina cuddled into him with a smug smile on her face.

PART VII
Betty had staggered into The Woolpack. “Is everything okay Bet-ty?” said Laurel. “No it isn’t” screeched Betty.
PEARL: You look like you have seen a ghost.
DIANE: Sit here (pulling up a stool in the centre of the pub) drink this Bet
BETTY: It’s much worse than a ghost, much much worse.
NIICOLA: (stood at the bar) Well don’t keep us all in suspense, it is obvious you want to tell us something
BETTY: First Kelly Windsor arrives, then Sadie King returns, A-GAIN and now….and now that trollop Tina Dingle is back!
There were collective gasps from everyone in the pub. Those who didn’t know the name felt sure that they should and those who knew Tina were either filled with horror or numbed with shock - except one.
POLLARD: (at the bar chuckling) Another drink Bob, this is cause for celebration. Things are definitely looking up around here.
PAUL: (from behind the bar) So what is the big deal, another Dingle is in town, I’m sure we will manage, we manage with the others and ones like Chas are a lot of fun.
SIMON: The Dingles might be a bunch of thugs but they are harmless enough.
BETTY: Oh, you don’t understand
EDNA: (sternly) No you don’t, none of you do. Tina is not like the rest.
POLLARD: (sipping at his drink) You can say that again
VAL: (who had just walked in) and what is that supposed to mean, man
Pearl looked at Len and he shrugged “Don’t ask me, I’ve never heard of her, must be before my time.”
NICOLA: Shush, let Betty finish. I want to know what’s going on here
MARLON: (who had been handing food out to a customer) I think I better go.
BOB: Marlon you can’t just walk out
DIANE: No you can not, its height of evening meal time.
MARLON: Sorry Diane I’ll make it up to you, I really will, but I suspect this is a family emergency.
Marlon left leaving The Woolpack regulars puzzled. Out on the street Kelly was still dressed in her shocking pink bikini and high heals when she saw Marlon come out of the pub. “MARLON” she shouted from down the road. Marlon tried to look away but there was no escaping Kelly when she had you in her sights. Kelly hobbled in her high heals up to Marlon and planted a big fat juicy kiss on his lips. Marlon backed away from her trying to wipe off the lipstick she no doubt had left behind on his cheek and lips.
MARLON: What did you do that for?
KELLY: Donna and I are really close you know
MARLON: Yes so
KELLY: And sisters share everything!
With that last comment Kelly smiled sweetly “see yah” she said with all her cockney charm before walking away from Marlon.
Back in The Woolpack Betty was holding fourth. “You see when they were handing out Dingle brains they bypassed them ALL giving the lot to Tina.
PAUL: So a Dingle with brains, I still don’t see the problem
DIANE: Yes that could be rather novel
EDNA: Hah. You know what they say give someone a bit of knowledge…
BETTY: Exactly Edna, Tina Dingle is as bright as a button and that’s probably what makes her very dangerous.
JACK: Dangerous, oh please. I can think of many things to describe Tina Dingle but dangerous is not one of them.
ASHLEY: Now come on Betty, I remember Tina, and despite her reputation I always found her to be pleasant enough on the few occasions I saw her about. Besides people change and it was a very long time ago.
ROBERT: (under his breath so no one heard) Kelly Windsor hasn’t changed any
EDNA: She is pleasant enough as…
BETTY: (interrupting) killers go I suppose
JACK: Oh come on Betty. A killer…
BETTY: How can you say that Jack. You know as well as I do two men died at the hands of her.
EDNA: Well there was Luke McAllister that is true.
BETTY: And then there was Frank Tate!
LAUREL: So why isn’t she in jail?
Diane looked at Jack searching for answers.
JACK: Well it is true she was in the car with that lad just before he wrapped himself round a tree but nothing was ever proven. But…
BETTY: No buts, it doesn’t take a lot of working out. She was PA to Frank Tate and if you believe the gossips, and you know I’m not one to gossip, but some do say she was bedding Frank Tate too.
EDNA: Yes and she was only 18 or 19 and he was what, 59 or 60?
LAUREL: So what did she do to him then?
BETTY: Who knows but Frank Tate was dead within months of Tina leaving him.
ASHLEY: Oh come on Betty I don’t really think you can blame Tina for that.
EDNA: Can’t she?
NICOLA: Yes well I wouldn’t put anything past those Dingles.
Robert who had remained silent up until now was finding Betty’s hysterics highly amusing, especially the reaction they were causing. “It was time to wind them up all some more” he thought.
ROBERT: I was just a kid at the time but didn’t Frank’s death have something to do with the return of his dead wife Kim Tate.
PEARL: Kim Tate! Who the heck was she?
BETTY: Oh don’t even mention that name. She will be back next.
Out on Main Street Cain was slopping a can of beer while watching Tina from a far unloading her car. Now he couldn’t decide, did he approach her at this moment in time or did he wait for another day. Her not knowing their true family connection could prove advantageous Cain was thinking. Also in what way was she connected to the Kings? Cain was brought out of his thoughts however by a tap on his shoulder.
SADIE: What the hell are you doing now
Cain turned to face her.
CAIN: I didn’t know you cared so much?
SADIE Oh believe me I don’t.
CAIN: I thought you had gone for good, disowned by your family. Perhaps you can’t resist my charms after all?
“In your dreams” spat Sadie. “However I am back and as to my family it will only be a matter of time before I’ve made my peace with them.
CAIN: You know I’m back in with mine, completely forgiven
SADIE: (sighing) now why does that not surprise me?
CAIN: So you know where my door is if you should change your mind.
SADIE: Over my dead body!
“I’m sure that can be arranged” Cain said with an evil laugh that sent chills down Sadie’s spine. However she didn’t have chance to respond as she too had now glanced Tina heading into the B&B
SADIE: What the…
Cain followed Sadie’s gaze towards the B&B.
CAIN: You know Tina then?
SADIE: Yes unfortunately and why shouldn’t it surprise me that a rattle snake such as you would know her too?
CAIN: We’re family and you know us Dingles we look after our own. So you just remember that.
SADIE: You don’t scare me neither does that little bitch. I’ve dealt with her before and I’ll deal with her again!
Sadie strutted off without further ado
“It’s been nice catching up, we should do it again sometime.” Cain said.
Sadie looked round and mouthed to him “get lost.”
Cain did another evil laugh.
Inside The Woolpack everyone was having their say on the rights and wrongs of Tina Dingle. Those who didn’t know her were ooohing and arrrhing. Those who did know her were lapping up the attention.
DR FORSYTH: I used to know the McAllister family. When I started out I worked under Bernard and in recent years his daughter Jessica has also become a doctor. They were never able to come to terms with the boy’s death and it tore the family a part.
Nicola had been listening to all the revelations with widening eyes. She didn’t know what to think. The woman she had seen with her dad had been introduced as Tina King. Could they be the same person? She just didn’t know.
Louise came barging into the pub in floods of tears.
DIANE: Lou whatever is the matter? You shouldn’t be here, it is your night off.
PAUL: Yes, you should be with Terry doing something nice.
“Oh Diane, it is awful” she wept. “Terry and I are finished and it is all some woman named Tina King’s fault.” Louise was too upset to care about the spectacle she was making of herself in front of all her customers.
NICOLA: This doesn’t look good Simon. A Dingle who is possibly connected to a King.
SIMON: Now Nic don’t go jumping to any conclusions. We don’t know all the facts and half of the ones we do have are only on the say so of Betty and Edna. Besides they could be two different people.
DIANE: Paul, hold the fort and you Louise better come to the back and tell me all about it.
As Louise was led by Diane through the back, she was sobbing uncontrollably and everyone heard her say “she has told Terry some awful lie about me having an affair…”
VAL: (stood at the bar with Eric who was loving every minute of the gossiping) Oh ay
Louise glanced back at Val, but she didn’t receive a sympathetic stare back. Oh no, Val just glared at Louise with a knowing look that was not picked up on by anyone else other than possibly Eric who just didn’t care about such things.
BETTY: See I told you she was bad news.
NICOLA: (whining) I just had a horrible feeling about her when I saw her sat in our living room today. Dad’s a sap for any young thing in a skirt.
SIMON: Your Dad is big enough and ugly enough to look after himself isn’t that right Paul.
PAUL: What, sorry, I was listening to Louise.
NICOLA: Well whether she be Dingle or King or both doesn’t matter, this Tina King person who has ruined Louise’s relationship is about to ruin our Dad’s life so keep up.
SIMON: He’s only just met her?
Matthew and Jimmy King had been at the bar stood not too far away from Nicola and Simon for all the time Betty had been in the pub. However they had remained silent up until now taking in every word.
JIMMY: (Loudly) This just gets better and better, wait until Dad hears you married a Dingle!
MATTHEW: Shout it a bit louder, they might just hear you in Leeds.
JIMMY: Why shouldn’t I shout it out, you marrying a Dingle is the funniest thing that has happened to this family in a long while.
MATTHEW: I don’t think it is that funny, besides it could be coincidence. This Tina Dingle needn’t be the same person as our Tina. They could be two different people.
JIMMY: Two different people my foot. Believe me it is no coincidence and it has just made my day.
TOM: What has just made your day?
Jimmy and Matthew turned round to see their father looking very stony faced.
JIMMY: Oh Dad didn’t see you there. Matthew has got some news for you.
Matthew hissed at Jimmy “Shut up”
TOM: Now what news might that be?
MATTHEW: It’s nothing Dad
“Nothing!” bellowed Tom making the whole pub jump with the threatening tone in his voice. “Your ex-wife is in this village as we speak and you say it is nothing?”
MATTHEW: So you have heard then
TOM: Oh yes I’ve heard alright but it should have been from you!
JIMMY: Yes I was just telling Matthew how he should come and tell you himself Dad but if he didn’t I was going to tell you.
TOM: Well after all Tina has done to this family, I would of thought at least one of my sons could have had the decency to tell me but I had to hear it from Sadie
JIMMY: Sadie!
TOM: Yes Sadie, at least she shows some family loyalty. Now you two home now!
With that Tom stormed out of the pub leaving Matthew and Jimmy looking very shame-faced.
NICOLA: That’s it Simon, I’ve heard enough, we are going home
SIMON: But Nicola I haven’t finished my drink
NICOLA: Never mind your drink we need to find Dad and check he isn’t with this Tina woman. He needs warning. Oh my… (she stopped in mid sentence)
SIMON: What now
NICOLA: What if we are too late, what if he is already dead?
Nicola fled the pub with Simon in hot pursuit.
Over at the Dingles Delilah, Debbie, Belle, Lisa and Shadrach were sat down to their evening meal
LISA: So no one has heard from Zak today and none of you know where he is?
“No” they all said in unison. “Wait until I get my hands on him” Lisa was saying as Cain walked in.
CAIN: Well you lot, I’ve seen our Tina
DEBBIE: So she is still in the village then
LISA: You spoke to her?
DELILAH: What did she say?
CAIN: Well No, I didn’t speak to her but I saw her moving into the B&B
SHADRACH: Spoke to who
BELLE: Tina, keep up
Shadrach glared at little Belle “are you going to let her cheek grown ups like that “he slurred.
DEBBIE: Leave her alone, she’s only telling you what we already had, remember?
SHADRACH: (still very drunk from earlier) I saw our Tricia today in Rodney’s place
DELILAH: Tricia? You drunken sod she is dead!
LISA: Oh don’t worry about it love, when Tricia died he thought she was called Tina
DEBBIE: So Belle was right, she did go off with Rodney.
CAIN: Well she isn’t with Rodney anymore, looks like she was moving in on Terry
DELILAH: That sounds like our Tina.
LISA: Okay everyone, enough. We have to keep this from Zak. Tina could be gone tomorrow and I don’t want him to get hurt.
DEBBIE: Hear that Belle, our little secret
Belle nodded.
CAIN: Why you worrying about her, it’s him (pointing at Shadrach) who will let us all down
DELILAH: Just look at him, he won’t remember anything anyway.
They all looked at Shadrach who was now slumped into his dinner snoring.
DEBBIE: So we are all agreed with Lisa aren’t we? Under no circumstances does anyone tell Granddad about Tina.
The Dingles all nodded their agreement.
At the B&B Terry was drowning his sorrows in glass after glass of alcohol. He didn’t care what he was drinking, he just kept helping himself to the B&B bar. Tina had been giving Terry the run down on what she had been doing these past eight and a half years and now it was Terry’s turn to fill her in.
“My life’s been a total failure Tina” he slurred. “Don’t worry about it Terry, mine hasn’t been so hot either” she replied. “How do you figure that” he said. “You are beautiful, young, have a son you can see anytime you like and by the looks of it you are a very successful business woman.”
TINA: Money’s not everything Terry. I learnt that a long time ago, watching Kim wrangle with Frank taught me that, not to mention what a bitter and twisted man Chris was. I saw what she became and I saw what he became and realised it would happen to me if I didn’t leave Emmerdale when I did and get away from Frank Tate. Don’t get me wrong I love money and I love material things but only as a safety net. Also I respect Frank, in fact I owe him everything. If it hadn’t been for him using me to get back at Kim and then taking chances on my abilities as a PA, I wouldn’t of gone on to bigger and better things.
TERRY: and you do have your son
TINA: Oh yes, you are right I do have my Frankie. He’s my everything, the only constant in my life that is good.
TERRY: I envy you Tina. I have two sons for what it is worth. Tom by Elaine is around nineteen now and probably still doesn’t know I’m his real Dad and TJ is barely two but it won’t be long before Dawn will take him away from me too. She’s in Spain now on holiday but it would never surprise me if one of these times while visiting her Mum she just doesn’t come back.
TINA: I’m sure she wouldn’t do that. She hasn’t up to now has she?
TERRY: In fairness to her she has nothing to come back for, especially after the way Scott Windsor treated her and so I don’t see why she doesn’t just stay there. In fact I might ring and tell her too.
TINA: No Terry don’t.
TERRY: I’m a total loser. Every woman I fall in love with just uses me and leaves me.
TINA: Don’t worry about it Terry. Every man who I have trusted has let me down. Starting with my father, then Frank Tate who I thought of like a secondary Dad but I should of known he wanted more, then there was Steve Marchant who only wanted me to line his own pockets with Frank’s money. Then I met and married Matthew King and it was all money to him too. In fact the only two men who probably did genuinely care for me were Luke and you.
Terry smiled remembering their affair and friendship but Tina continued
TINA: And how did I treat you both? Especially you, Terry. I probably just used you to shock the village and particularly get up that busybody Eagleton’s nose.
TERRY: You were young then, you shouldn’t beat yourself up about the past
TINA: And neither should you. Anyway the point I’m making neither of us are perfect and neither of us have perfect lives.
TERRY: Perhaps we should of stuck together then?
TINA: We were always best mates but we should of never been lovers!
Terry looked disappointed.
TERRY: I don’t know why I don’t kill myself now. No one would miss me, especially not my sons.
TINA: I would miss you
TERRY: Until you leave the village again
TINA: Perhaps you should persuade me to stay?
TERRY: No, there is no point, I’m a total loser, this business with Louise is just the final straw. I might as well end it all now.
TINA: Terry, don’t be so stupid
TERRY: I mean it Tina I’m at the end of the road, I have nothing to live for
Tina was starting to panic as she didn’t like the tone in Terry’s voice.
TINA: (desperately) What about your boys?
TERRY: They are best off without me.
TINA: Don’t be stupid Terry of course they need you.
TERRY: No they don’t they have their mothers.
Thinking on her feet now, Tina was saying the first thing that came into her head as she really started to believe Terry was seriously contemplating suicide.
TINA: Children need their fathers. Despite his faults I really miss mine and my Frankie misses not having a Dad too. Frankie needs a dad Terry.
TERRY: Well let him see his dad then
TINA: That’s exactly what I plan to do. Terry you mustn’t kill yourself because you may not have Tom and you may lose TJ, but you have another son now. Frank King is yours. My Frankie was born in May 1997, nine months after our last little fling. When I left Emmerdale in December 1996 I was already pregnant but at the time I thought I was doing the right thing taking the baby away from here. Now I realise it wasn’t. Despite all their faults, I grew up in a loving family and I now realise that was very important. My Frankie deserves the same.
Terry just stared at Tina wide-eyed and open-mouthed.
-------------------
The next morning Sadie King was tentatively knocking on Holdgate’s Farm. She was nervous as other than briefly yesterday in the Street when she had told Tom about Tina, she had not really had anything to do with the Kings since her return. She was still staying in the B&B and as far as she was aware she was still very much out in the cold. So why now was Tom summoning her?
Tom flung open the door and gestured for Sadie to walk in.
SADIE: Tom, I really don’t understand why you wanted me here at seven in the morning. In fact I don’t understand why you want me here at all after everything you have said in the past.
TOM: Yes well, things have changed. Please come in and sit down.
Sadie sat down but Tom remained stood pacing the King living room. After what seemed like an eternity he began to speak.
TOM: Sadie, I’m really glad you have come back to Emmerdale. I’ve missed you believe it or not.
SADIE: I find that hard to believe
TOM: Well it is true. You were a member of this family for many years and I always treated you and loved you as a daughter
SADIE: I know Tom and that is why I did what I did…
TOM: (interrupting) Let me finish please. I guess it is only when something is gone you realise what you have lost
SADIE: Yes, sorry.
TOM: What you did to Jimmy, lying about wanting children and other things was dreadful. However you did give this family your uppermost loyalty for many years and that cannot be denied. (He paused for thought giving Sadie cause for concern, before continuing). You even put up with our Jimmy for fifteen years no mean feet (he chucked). So now I have had time to reflect I can perhaps understand your motives for doing what you did to poor Charity
SADIE: (eagerly) You do?
TOM: I don’t agree with what you did to Charity and I still feel you were wrong about her. However you were right about Tina all those years ago. Charity was a Dingle and now it would seem so is Tina.
SADIE: Yes they were cut from the same cloth those two
TOM: Yes you are right. However I don’t understand she came to us as “Tina Dailey”
SADIE : Well wouldn’t you change your name if you were a Dingle?
They chuckled
TOM: She had impeccable references. First from that Birmingham firm and they also handed on references they had had from Frank Tate. But no where in her file did it say she was called “Dingle.”
SADIE: Not that it would of made any difference as we hadn’t heard of the Dingles back in 1997
TOM: However I would of known to stay clear of Charity. The village warned me about Charity too. However perhaps if I’d known about Tina I would of listened?
SADIE: No point dwelling on it Tom. It is the now and future we have to worry about.
TOM: Yes, you are right and hence why I’ve called you here today. Tina was excellent at her job and is a very bright girl, possibly the sharpest I’ve ever met. However she got her claws into our Matthew before and there’s nowt to say she won’t do it again
SADIE: We mustn’t let her
TOM: No, definitely not! That girl embezzled from the firm and nearly bankrupted the company by leaking trade secrets to our competitors.
SADIE: She almost destroyed this family
TOM: I knew you would understand because despite your faults Sadie you really do care about us Kings. I can see it now. Family is everything to you. You have proved that
SADIE: Yes
Tom went over to the Drink’s cabinet and pulled out two glasses and a bottle of wine
SADIE: What are you doing. It is only 7:30 in the morning, a little bit too early to start drinking?
TOM: Well this is a special occasion (pouring the wine into the glasses). I want to propose two toasts.
Tom handed Sadie a glass
TOM: The first one to welcome you back into the family and the second…
SADIE: To the downfall of Tina Dingle King!
Tom grinned and Sadie smiled smugly as they clinked glasses.

PART 8
“Kelly, I’m not running a café service, you get down here this instant if you want some breakfast” Viv shouted up the stairs. Viv walked back into the Windsor eating area muttering “she specifically asked me for a full English breakfast for 7:30, it is now 8am.” Viv sat back down at the dining table with Donna and Marlon.
MARLON: I wonder what she will be wearing this morning?
VIV: No doubt a florescent yellow bikini this time
DONNA: Don’t bank on it, she might have nothing on
VIV: Oh and that’s another thing. Why did Marlon sleep over last night?
DONNA: Well he was a bit upset about something and it got late so I said he could.
VIV: Well it mustn’t happen again you hear?
DONNA: Why ever not?
VIV: Isn’t it obvious
DONNA: (with raised voice) Nooooooo
MARLON: Leave it Donna
DONNA: No, I won’t leave it Marlon.
VIV: Well it will only encourage Kelly if (pointing at Marlon) he stays over
DONNA: Mother, Marlon and I have a serious relationship and the sooner you accept that the better. And what we do isn’t anyone’s business but our own
VIV: Well, I don’t know at least until Kelly is gone can’t you just cool it a bit.
DONNA: And when will that be?
Viv didn’t have chance to answer
MARLON: Wow!
Viv and Donna followed Marlon’s gaze and there stood Kelly. Kelly was dressed in a neatly pressed skirt (that surprisingly went below her knees) and a matching jacket. She could very easily have passed herself off as a top executive.
VIV: Oh my gawd who died?
KELLY: Oh sorry I’m late for breakfast, but I wanted to look my best for my first day at work and I really don’t think I could eat anything now because I’m so nervous.
Viv frowned glancing over at the big plate of food she had made Kelly
DONNA: In a funeral parlour is it?
KELLY: No, as a matter of fact it is the King’s new PA position recently vacated by that old battleaxe Edna Birch
MARLON: You are going to work for the Kings?
VIV: So this must mean you are planning to stay a while then?
KELLY: I love it ‘ere, you make me feel so much at ‘ome. Anyway I’ll have this piece of toast and I’ll run.
Kelly munched on the toast and when she finished she leant in to kiss Viv
KELLY: Thanks Mum for everything
Viv, Donna and Marlon all sat there with open mouths as Kelly left.
VIV: Did she just call me Mum?
The others nodded and Viv held up Kelly’s uneaten plate which by this time was stone cold.
VIV: Anyone want this breakfast?
Over at the B&B Tina was trying to sneak out the B&B front door without anyone noticing
TERRY: Hey there you are don’t you want any breakfast
TINA: (turning to face Terry) Oh no, I couldn’t after all we drank last night.
TERRY: Well I feel on top of the world
TINA: You do? How?
TERRY: After everything we talked about
TINA (looking downcast): Oh, I am surprised you remember any of it after all you had?
TERRY: How could I forget any of it, particularly the part about Frankie..
TINA: Oh that, look Terry I must run I’m running late
TERRY: Look Tina, don’t go yet, did you mean what you said about Frankie last night?
TINA: Look Terry I really do have to go we will talk about this later
TERRY: Well, where are you off to and will you be back soon?
TINA: As a matter of fact I’m off to Frankie’s school …
TERRY: There’s nothing wrong is there?
TINA: No, (she lied) it is just for a standard meeting with the headmistress but I should be back at lunchtime, perhaps we can catch each other then ay?
TERRY: Hold on if you are going to Frankie’s school then perhaps I should come with you, (he paused) with me being his Dad and all.
TINA: That’s very sweet, but no, not this time Terry. Frankie doesn’t know anything about you and it will just confuse him. When I think the time is right I will have a good talk to him and explain everything. You do understand don’t you Terry?
TERRY: Ah yes fair enough I suppose. (He chuckled) after all it has been eight years, what is another few hours…
TINA: Or Days even?
TERRY: Right.
Out on Main Street Debbie was walking along wheeling baby Sarah’s pram. Debbie was feeling very down, she had had yet another sleepless night with the baby. It seemed to Debbie the only thing that got this baby to sleep was to wheel her out on long walks first thing in the morning and the sleep deprivation Debbie had been suffering as a consequence was finally getting to her.
As Tina was getting in her car she received a phone call on her mobile and she answered it to hear Rodney’s voice on the other end
RODNEY: Hi Tina, I’ll get to the point. I really enjoyed yesterday so wondered if you would like to come out to lunch this afternoon after you have been to Frankie’s school and before you go on to Home Farm
TINA: Okay, about 1:30?
RODNEY: Sounds fine to me
TINA: It’s a date then.
Tina and Rodney hung up their respective phones and Rodney smiled to himself. Rodney who was in the Antique’s barn turned to face Danny.
RODNEY: Sorry Danny boy, you don’t stand a chance. She’s all mine.
Up at Home Farm
CALLUM: You wanted to see me Zoe?
ZOE: (putting socks and shoes on Jean) Yes, just to let you know I’m popping out this morning. Joseph breaks up from school today so I have to go and pick him up and then drive him to one of his friend’s where he is spending a couple of days
CALLUM: What about your 3:30? Rachel is bringing that prospective seller here remember?
ZOE: I haven’t forgotten and I should be back by lunchtime. There you go Jean, all ready let’s get gone.
Back in the village as Debbie walked passed the bus stop she spotted Daz and a few other former school mates.
DEBBIE: Hello Daz
Daz turned his back to her
DEBBIE (to herself) Hi Debbie, how’s Sarah. She’s fine thank you Daz.
Daz still ignored Debbie. Some of the other kids began to giggle. So Debbie turned her attention to them
DEBBIE: Hasn’t school finished yet for the summer then?
TEENAGER #1: Got a few more days yet unfortunately
DEBBIE: You don’t know how lucky you are, never thought I’d say this, but I would do anything to be back at school
TEENAGER #2 (smugly and pointing at Sarah): Don’t suppose you can now
DEBBIE: Actually I’m hoping they will let me return in September
Debbie glanced back up the road and could see Tina driving carefully through the village
DEBBIE: Here Daz take Sarah a minute
Debbie thrust the pram towards Daz and ran in the direction of Tina’s car.
TEENAGER #3 Looks like you won’t be going to school today either
The group all laughed. Daz shouted after Debbie “Debb-i, the bus is coming I can’t look after her.” Debbie glanced back for a second then continued to run faster to keep up with Tina’s car that was increasing speed. “Debb-i, please” cried Daz.
However Debbie wasn’t for turning. She was on a mission and the gathered teens all looked on in a state of utter shock as they saw Debbie fling herself in front of Tina’s car.

PART 9 Written June 2005
It took all Tina’s expertise in driving to step on the breaks bringing the car to a halt just millimetres away from hitting Debbie. Tina quickly got out the car while others came running out of their houses and passers-bys gawped in the street.
TINA: What were you thinking of you stupid girl.
EDNA: Is she okay?
BETTY: Come here Debbie love
DEBBIE: Get your hands off of me you old bat,
BETTY: Well that’s gratitude
DEBBIE: (to the gathered crowd) all of you, this is between her and me (pointing at Tina). So just back off the lot of you
EDNA: Come on Betty after all they are both Dingles, let them sort it out amongst themselves.
As the crowd backed away, Tina and Debbie were left facing each other alone in the Street.
Over at Pear Tree Cottage, Carl, Jimmy and Matthew were all gathered round their desks waiting impatiently to see what the big announcement was their father had told them to expect. Finally what seemed liked an eternity, Tom came out with Kelly
TOM: Now listen up everyone this is Mrs Kelly Glover, our new PA. She comes with impeccable references going back years from various firms across London.
JIMMY: (whispering to Matthew) where have I heard that before
MATTHEW: (hissing to Jimmy) You have no room to talk
TOM: Kelly please forgive my sons’ behaviour. Now come on boys. We don’t want to scare off Kelly on her first day do we? She even worked for the Tates for a while in this very village, so I am sure she is going to fit in well here.
KELLY: (smiling seductively and with a sweet tone in her voice) Well thank you Tom
CARL: (Looking at Jimmy) Oh here we go again
But Jimmy wasn’t listening to Carl, his full attention was on the new PA and this hadn’t gone unnoticed by her. Kelly smiled sweetly at Jimmy. By now both Carl and Jimmy were eying Kelly up and down which of course she enjoyed
TOM: Okay, I’ll leave you to it Kelly love and let the boys show you how things are done around here. But go easy Jimmy you hear me?
CARL: (chuckling) You have some hope there Dad
TOM: And that applies to you too Carl. I mean it, understand?
KELLY: (batting her eyes up and down in that special way that only Kelly can do) Okay thanks Tom, I’m sure I’m goin’ to like it ‘ere.
Tom went back into the office
JIMMY: (got up and put his arm around Kelly) So Mrs Glover is it?
KELLY: Actually no, it is Ms Windsor but you can call me Kelly if you like (she smiled)
MATTHEW: (suspiciously) So where does the Glover fit in then?
KELLY: (batting her eyelids up and down to Matthew) No hoper Roy Glover was my ex-‘usband I’m ashamed to say. However that is long ago and I was just a kid. Now I’m back in this village I intend to start a fresh and forget all about my past. You are lookin’ at the newly invented grown-up Kelly Windsor. She did her sole male audience a twirl.
CARL: I’m sure there was nothing wrong with the old Kelly
KELLY: I dunno, I’ve done a lot of things I’m ashamed of, but not anymore, I mean to start today as I mean to carry on. Now, boys, anyone for coffee? (She smiled seductively at them all and headed to make her first and last cup of coffee for the boys.)
Kelly spent the rest of the morning getting to grips with her new job with both Carl and Jimmy swooning all over her. Each offering to help her with anything she needed. However Matthew was brooding, Tina’s presence in the village was really getting to him and now there was the mess with Louise to clear up too.
Debbie stood defiantly before Tina on Main Street.
DEBBIE: So, looks like you are leaving then
TINA: So what if I am (climbing back into her car)
DEBBIE: Well just go will you. None of us want you here
TINA: Is that so
DEBBIE: Yes it is and Granddad HATES you.
Tina was taken back by this and did her best to hide a tear that was forming in her eye
TINA: Did he say that
DEBBIE: Yes
TINA: No he didn’t you are lying I can see it in your eyes
DEBBIE: Just get lost and don’t come back.
TINA: I’ve had enough of this. You are just a stupid little girl that needs to grow up.
With that Tina sped off through the village leaving Debbie scowling behind her. Eventually Debbie pulled out her phone and dialled home
DEBBIE: (on the phone) Lisa, its Debbie, is Granddad back yet?
LISA: No
DEBBIE: Oh well some bit of good news that Tina’s gone I think?
In the village shop Edna was doing her shopping while behind the counter Emily was stock taking.
VIV: Oh Emily it is so nice to have you back
EMILY: It is nice to be back Mrs Windsor
EDNA: (looking over her shoulder) You can say that again. At last there is a smiling face to greet you when you do your shopping.
VIV: Oh who asked you
EDNA: Well I…
At that moment Betty came barging into the shop
VIV: Morning Betty, what can I get you.
BETTY: You were not in The Woolpack last night Viv Windsor
VIV: (getting uppity) As a matter of fact I was not, no Betty
BETTY: Well, you do not have to take that tone with me I was just saying like
EMILY: Please don’t take it personally Mrs Eagleton, Mrs Windsor has a lot of worries right now.
EDNA: huh? I thought Scott was getting better?
BETTY: What has she got to worry about?
EMILY: Kelly
VIV: Yes that is right you just don’t know what that girl is putting me through
BETTY: Kelly is the last problem this village has to worry about right now
VIV: And what is that supposed to mean?
Edna placed a full basket of shopping on the counter
EDNA: I am afraid Betty is right
VIV: Well spit it out then Betty, you obviously have something on your mind?
BETTY: Its them Dingles we should be feeling sorry for
VIV: The Dingles!
EDNA: Oh Betty get on with it will you? I haven’t got all day.
BETTY: Well you know I’m not one to gossip..
EDNA: Betty! What she is trying to tell you is that…
BETTY: I can do this myself thank you very much Edna. That trollop Tina has returned.
Viv gasped. Emily looked confused.
EMILY: Who is Tina?
BETTY: Who is Tina? Who is Tina? How can you ask such a question.
EDNA: After all she is a member of your in-laws?
EMILY: I’ve never heard of her
VIV: Well I never did. That explains something.
Viv walked to the back of the shop that connected the shop to the café and bellowed “Donna, Donna Windsor you get in here right now.” A harassed looking Donna appeared in the door way.
DONNA: What is it Mum, I’m the only one serving in there and….
VIV: Never mind that. Did you know about this?
DONNA: About what
BETTY: Tina Dingle returning to the village.
Donna didn’t get chance to speak
VIV: You did didn’t you? Why did you not tell me? I’m your mother, I had a right to know
DONNA: It was none of your business, it was a family matter concerning the Dingles and Marlon asked me to keep it to myself
VIV: But I’m your Mother?
EMILY: That must be why he didn’t come home last night?
VIV: Well that’s it I’m not having him sleep over again. You hear me?
Donna nodded
POLLARD: (shouting from the café) What does someone have to do to get some service around here?
DONNA: I better get back in there
Donna rushed back into the café before Viv could say anything else.
VIV: What is it they say about thankless children?
EDNA: “How sharper than a serpent’s tooth it is to have a thankless child.” Shakespeare’s King Lear I think you will find.
BETTY: Never mind Bill Shakespeare, what are we going to do about Tina Dingle? Perhaps we should have a village meeting?
EDNA: Oh now Betty you are being ridiculous
EMILY: Surely you can’t have a village meeting against someone?
VIV: Betty is right because you don’t know what Tina is Emily but I don’t see what I can do right now as I’ve got enough problems with Kelly
EDNA: All your own doing I’m afraid
VIV: What’s that supposed to mean
EDNA: Kelly was such a nice little girl when you first moved to the village
BETTY: A stroppy teenager mind.
EDNA: Aren’t they all
BETTY: Suppose so
VIV: Hold on a minute I still want to know what Edna meant about it being my fault. I could do nothing about her running off with her school teacher. My Vic, God rest his soul and I did everything we could to stop her crush on Tom Bainbridge but we were powerless. And when he betrayed her it all went wrong from that point.
BETTY: Oh come off it things were going wrong with Kelly before that. She was a very mixed up girl
EDNA: Not helped by her unstable home life
VIV: You what
BETTY: Well I’m sure your affair with Terry Woods didn’t help?
EDNA: You also only need to look how your Scott turned out to know something went wrong with the parenting
BETTY: That’s true. Did he or did he not near on rape Zoe Tate. Twice!
EDNA: Well we don’t know that do we Betty but as they say there’s no smoke without fire
VIV: That’s it. You are barred. Both of you! Get out.
With that Viv strutted out back.
BETTY: Well
EDNA: Come on Betty we know where we are not wanted
EMILY: What about your shopping Mrs Birch, I could ring it through?
However Betty and Edna had left.
In the headmistress’s office at Frank King’s private school Tina lept out of her chair.
TINA: (shouting) EXCLUDED!
HEADMISTRESS: Please Mrs King, sit back down
TINA: (irate) NO, you just said you are excluding my son from this school. What’s he done? Is my money not good enough for yuh?
HEADMISTRESS: Mrs King please calm down. This has nothing to do with money nor has your son done anything wrong.
TINA: (calmer) But you are excluding him?
HEADMISTRESS: That is not what I said at all. Frank is a very unhappy little boy. He misses you terribly and his teachers here think he needs to spend more time with you.
TINA: (getting angry again) Are you saying I don’t spend enough time with my boy?
HEADMISTRESS: No, not at all, but in all respect to you, Frank came here at a very young age and doesn’t see you other than at holidays. Now we realise you are a very busy business woman but sometimes children need to come first.
TINA: (shrieking) What is it with you teachers, mine were the same too. You think you can tell us ordinary folk how to raise our kids.
HEADMISTRESS: Mrs King I’m not telling you how to raise your child but I do think Frank would benefit greatly from spending some time with you. Perhaps if you take him home now we can all have another meeting in September and see if he is ready to come back
TINA: No way! If I walk out that door now with Frank, there’s no way he’s coming back here in September or ever. I’ll take my custom somewhere else.
HEADMISTRESS: (shaking her head) Sorry you feel like that Mrs King
TINA: Besides I’m not being told by some do-gooder headmistress what is best for my son
Tina stormed out the office leaving the headmistress still shaking her head. Outside the office sat a pitiful weedy little boy. Tina just breezed by shouting behind her.
TINA: Frankie you have got your wish you are coming with me
FRANK: (eagerly) Really Mummy, am I coming home with you?
Frank scampered behind Tina who did not turn to face him.
TINA: Yes, except we don’t have a home at the moment
FRANK: So where are we going to live then Mummy?
TINA (now taking his hand and speaking more softly) I don’t know, but I’m working on it
They reached Tina’s car when little Frank remembered something.
FRANK: Mummy what about my things
TINA: (getting irritated again) Oh never mind those. I’m not going back in that place. I’ll buy you all new cloths, toys etc and anything else you want. Let’s just get gone.
Both got in the car. Tina was fuming but now it was more with herself. She knew she had a nasty habit of flying off the handle and over-reacting to situations. It was the one trait she didn’t like about herself. Now just as in the past, she came to the same old conclusion that it was the Dingle in her and she hated having it.
Tina and Frank made their way back to Emmerdale. Tina hoped that Rodney would not mind Frankie tagging along on their lunch date.
Meanwhile up at the Dingles Debbie was sitting on the sofa reading a magazine while Lisa busied herself in the kitchen when Zak finally arrived home after over twenty-four hours of being missing.
LISA: Zak Dingle where have you been?
DEBBIE: (looking from her magazine) We have been getting worried.
Zak walked over to Debbie and squeezed her cheeks
ZAK: Nothing too worry about the little sunshine of my life
LISA: Zaaaaak! I want an answer
ZAK: Well uh umm I’m sorry what can I say? The business I was seeing to took a lot longer than I planned
DEBBIE: (rolling her eyes) Oh here we go another Dingle business scam
ZAK: That’s gratitude for you. I was actually getting you a surprise Debbie. Next time I won’t bother after all the trouble it took
DEBBIE: A surprise for me? Really?
ZAK: Yes really
DEBBIE: (her mood now completely softened) What is it? Can I see it?
ZAK: Best not love just yet. Wait until after dark...
Zak didn’t get any further because Lisa began to talk, she was still furious with Zak however even she didn’t have time to vent her fury because there was a knock at the door. Zak opened the door to reveal a terrified Daz
ZAK: (gruffly) What do you want?
DAZ: (stuttering) Is Debbie there, please Mr. Dingle.
ZAK: I told you and that brother before to stay away from Debbie and Sarah
DAZ: I know but it is important
ZAK: The only Sugdens allowed near Sarah are Jack, Diane and Victoria. So sling your hook before I get Cain.
Zak slammed the door. However Daz knocked again.
ZAK: What is it with that boy?
DEBBIE: I’ll deal with him
ZAK: No, you don’t, you sit where you are young lady. I’m not having that lad or Andy upsetting you again
LISA: Wonder why he isn’t at school anyway?
Daz kept knocking so Lisa finally answered it.
DAZ: Look sorry Mrs Dingle but Debbie left me with Sarah this morning and I was expecting her to come back for her but she didn’t.
LISA: Sarah! She is upstairs.
Lisa looked towards Debbie who shook her head while Daz brought the pram into view proving to both Zak and Lisa he was right as Sarah began to cry.
LISA: Oh Debbie love what were you thinking
ZAK: Leaving the baby with him of all people too. You better have some answers young lady
DEBBIE: It wasn’t my fault honest Lisa I got side-tracked by you know who
ZAK: Who?
DAZ: Some new woman in the village. A right high and mighty cow was having a row with Debbie that’s why I had Sarah.
ZAK: What woman? Has someone been bullying you Debbie? (not letting Debbie get a word in edgeways). Well have they? I’ll have no one bully one of my own. We Dingles stick together. Tell me who she is and I’ll sort her?
DEBBIE: (finally getting chance to talk) It’s okay the matter is sorted now
DAZ: Betty said she was called…
LISA: (interrupting) That’s okay Daz thank you for bringing back Sarah. You see if you can get back to school for afternoon lessons.
Before Daz had any chance to speak Lisa had shut the front door.
ZAK: (frustrated) Grrrr will someone tell me what’s going on?
DEBBIE: It’s alright Granddad honestly. It is another new King in the village
ZAK: Another one how many more do we have to put up with.
Debbie and Lisa shrugged.
ZAK: I got a good mind to go round there now. Those Kings need sorting and they need sorting now. It’s about time someone stood up to them. They come into this village and lord it all over the rest of us and I have had enough I tell you.
LISA: Calm down Zak, I’ll deal with this. Besides you must be hungry after all the hours you have been away and let’s not do anything hasty it’s not worth it.
ZAK: Yes you are right, I am hungry.
It was lunchtime at the Peer Tree Cottage offices. When Kelly asked everyone if they would like a cup of coffee. However before anyone could answer Jimmy jumped up. “Let me get those love. We don’t want to dirty those beautiful hands of yours and you look very busy with that paper work”
CARL: And she’s damn good at this paper work too
Kelly smiled to herself because she now knew that by the end of the day she would have one of these King lads bagged but the question was which one?

PART 10 Written Thursday, 23 June 2005
Jimmy was filling the kettle at Pear Tree Cottage
KELLY: Well thank you Jimmy, black with no sugars for me, got to watch my figure
JIMMY: Oh, there’s nothing wrong with your figure love
Carl nodded in agreement as Tom came out of his office
TOM: Everything going okay Kelly love
KELLY: Oh perfect Tom. I’m lovin’ it ‘ere. So much so I was thinking of treatin’ you boys
TOM: Oh you don’t have to do that
KELLY: (grinning) Oh I think I do. I’m going to go over to the café and see if I can get you lads some really nice yummy treats.
Jimmy, Matthew and Carl all licked their lips. Kelly picked up her purse and off she went.
TOM: Not as good as Edna though but Kelly seems a nice enough girl.
JIMMY: Oh she does Dad
MATTHEW: Yes you picked a right cracker there Dad
CARL: Oh it speaks.
MATTHEW: What’s that supposed to mean
CARL: You have been quiet all morning
TOM: That’s enough
Over in the Woolpack Rodney walked in with Tina and Frankie.
RODNEY: (to Frank) Now young chap what would you like
VAL: (propping up the bar with a drink in her hand) I sees you have traded me in for a younger model Rodney? Not as pretty mind
Rodney rolled his eyes while Tina whispered in his ear through gritted teeth “who is that old hag?” “That is the mother of my son Paul. A long long story” Rodney replied. Diane came into the bar from The Woolpack back room.
DIANE: Now Rodney you know the rules young children are prohibited from being at the bar
RODNEY: (with a twinkle in his eye) Oh Diane come on. This is just a one off and we’ll go and sit outside when we have ordered.
VAL: (sipping on her drink) Rodney’s got a new lady friend Diane
Rodney glared at Val
DIANE: So I see
RODNEY: Oh forgive my rudeness. This is Valerie’s sister Diane Sugden and co-owner of this place
TINA: Sugden? And owner of this place
Diane nodded.
RODNEY: Yes Sugden. She used to be a Blackstock even after we divorced. However now she is married to Jack.
Tina looked surprised
TINA: And I thought my family were complicated
DIANE: And they would be?
RODNEY: Oh yes, and Diane this is Tina King and her son Frank
DIANE: Tina, Tina King you say
Tina and Rodney both nodded
DIANE: In that case you are barred
TINA: (with a shriek) You what? What did I do?
DIANE: I’ve heard all about you
At that moment Eric Pollard strode in
POLLARD: All you have heard is vile village gossip from the village fog-horn Betty Eagleton
TINA: Eric
Pollard walked up to Tina and kissed her hand
POLLARD: Tina my dear what a pleasure it is to see you again
TINA: It is?
Val put her drink down and walked over to Eric’s side
VAL: (addressing Tina) You have Rodney now, but Eric is mine so hands off
TINA: Believe me you can have him
POLLARD: Now now ladies. Tina is just an old business associate
VAL: But’s she a Dingle
POLLARD: Don’t judge a book by its cover. Tina’s the only Dingle worth giving the time of day to
VAL: Well she is a King now
Eric laughed
VAL: What’s so funny
POLLARD: Well, trust you Tina. I knew you would go far
DIANE: (sarcastically) Well there is a recommendation if I ever saw one Rodney. If Eric says she is okay then she must be
Rodney was looking frustrated and puzzled
RODNEY: Come on Tina and Frankie, we perhaps should leave and get some food back at my place
TINA: Well we don’t have time to go anywhere else if I’m to be at my 3:30 appointment in time.
DIANE: Yes you do that. I don’t want Louise upsetting again
TINA: That wouldn’t be Louise Appleton would it? Terry’s girlfriend?
DIANE: Ex girlfriend thanks to you
TINA: I don’t know what she told you but if Terry’s dumped her it has nothing to do with me? I just happened to be there.
DIANE: That might be your story but I’ve known Louise a very long time
RODNEY: Oh come on Diane you are being unreasonable here
TINA: I can’t help it if the stupid cow told him she was having an affair now can I?
Diane’s jaw dropped and Val looked guiltily away.
With that Tina turned on her heal and Tina and Rodney made their way out while Diane shouted after them
DIANE: Oh and by the way you are still barred
Over at the café Kelly had demanded to be served by Viv
VIV: Okay what is it you want. Couldn’t someone else of served you?
KELLY: No, I wanted to be served by the best and you are the best Mum
VIV: Am I
KELLY: Yes you are and I want the finest quality sandwiches and cakes for my King boys. They work so ‘ard and they need to keep their strength up
VIV: Hold on a minute you just called me “Mum”, again?
Kelly nodded
VIV: You haven’t called me that in years Kelly
KELLY: Well that’s my stupid fault isn’t it. You are my mother, well the only one I’ve ever known. And we did used to be very close once didn’t we?
Viv nodded to herself thinking back on a time when she had indeed felt she had more in common with Kelly than her own daughter Donna.
KELLY: I know I ‘ave been a bad’n these past few years. But you are looking at the new improved Kelly. I want to make up for all the mistakes. I realise now it wasn’t your fault you had an affair with Terry. You are just human after all. And I know I didn’t help matters by running off with Tom
Viv had been pondering all morning what Betty and Edna had been saying and now she began to realise that may be she hadn’t done the best for Kelly
VIV: And I am sorry how we lied to you about your real Mum Anne’s death. I really am. If I could turn back time I would
KELLY: Oh that, that’s all forgotten. These things happen don’t they
Kelly smiled
KELLY: Anyway how about this food
VIV: Okay then, and we are agreed to start again
KELLY: It’s a truce
Donna had come up from behind and heard a lot of the last part of the conversation and she wasn’t sure she liked this turn of events and she wasn’t sure she believed in this new Kelly but for now she would have to keep her concerns to herself as it was obvious that her mother was going to become all pally again with Kelly. Donna felt a sense of dread as it would just be like when they were children when everything was Kelly and Scott this and Kelly and Scott that while she was left on the outside.
Outside The Woolpack Tina could sense something was bothering Rodney
TINA: Rodney what’s wrong?
RODNEY: You are a smart girl aren’t you? How did you guess
Tina shrugged and then smiled
RODNEY: You are not a friend of Pollard’s are you?
TINA: (with shock on her face) What that rattle snake? I wouldn’t go near him with a barge pole whether it be business or pleasure
RODNEY: (sighing in relief) Oh you agree thank goodness for that
TINA: I wouldn’t trust that man as far as I could throw him
Tina and Rodney moved in for a kiss only to be interrupted by Frank
FRANK: Are you going to be my new Daddy?
TINA: Frankie don’t ask such silly questions. Sorry Rodney for my son’s bluntness
RODNEY: (chuckling) That’s okay. I understand
TINA: Every Christmas he puts on his present list that he wants a daddy
They didn’t get much further with the conversation because Betty Eagleton came walking towards them
BETTY: I see she has her claws into you already
RODNEY: Betty
BETTY: You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself Rodney Blackstock
RODNEY: What me?
TINA: Oh ignore the old bat. She’s always had it in for me
BETTY: Well I see you have not changed one iota
Betty then left them to it and went into The Woolpack to complain to anyone who would listen that she had been verbally abused by Tina Dingle
Over at the Dingles
DEBBIE: (excitedly) So how much longer do I have to wait for my surprise Granddad
ZAK: Just until tonight when it gets dark
DEBBIE: Can’t you give me a clue?
ZAK: No you wait and see you will love it
DEBBIE: Pleeeeasssssssse
Over in The Woolpack Val and Eric had been huddled in a booth discussing Tina
POLLARD: So you see my dear she really could be an asset to us
VAL: She sounds like she is as devious as us too
POLLARD: What with her business brain, my charm and all of our deviousness. We could be unstoppable.
Val nodded and got up from her seat
POLLARD: Where are you going
VAL: Don’t worry lover I’ll be right back. I just need to go and talk to our Diane.
Val wondered over to the bar where now Paul was serving along side Diane
PAUL: Mother
VAL: Sorry son it’s not you I want
DIANE: Oh ay what are you after
VAL: I was thinking our Diane that you might have been a bit rough on that Tina girl
PAUL: I don’t think so after what she did to poor Louise
DIANE: And why would you care anyway
VAL: Well I just don’t like to see people wronged and I don’t think you gave her a fair chance that’s all. After all what do we know really about Louise?
DIANE: What are you wittering on about. Now come on Valerie spit it out
VAL: Wells I wasn’t going to tell yah like but Louise has been having an affair for weeks
PAUL: Oh shut up mother don’t be ridiculous she loves Terry. Don’t listen to her Aunty Diane, she is just drunk
What with Val’s comment and Tina’s earlier, realisation was starting to hit Diane
DIANE: Drunk she might be Paul but she also seems to know something
VAL: You don’t need to talk about us like that. I am here you know
PAUL: Unfortunately
DIANE: I have customers so are you going to tell us what you are going on about
VAL: Well I thought you would know being her best friend like
DIANE: Well I don’t
VAL: Louise has been having an affair with Matthew King behind Terry’s back for weeks
Full horror fell upon Diane’s face as she realised not only had Terry been duped but so had she. She knew Val was telling the truth. Louise had always maintained to Diane that she wasn’t interested in Matthew and it was he doing all the chasing. But for Val to say this and for Tina to stand her ground earlier, it just made sense. Now Diane realised not only had Louise been lying to her but she had also made Diane look a fool in front of Tina King. To make matters worse it would also seem that Val had been in on it too!
PAUL: Don’t listen to her Aunty Diane she is lying for some warped reason only known to herself.
VAL: I am not
DIANE: No, she is not I’m afraid Paul. For once in her life your mother is telling the truth.
Diane made her way out back and went up to what was Louise’s old bedroom and hammered on the door.
DIANE: (angrily) Louise are you in there? You better open this door right this minute because I need some answers.

PART 11 Written Thursday, 23 June 2005
Tina was sat contentedly in a deck chair in Rodney’s garden sipping Lemonade. She was enjoying this beautiful July’s summer day. Rodney and Frankie were playing cricket on the lawn
RODNEY: He knows all about cricket your boy
TINA: Yes learnt it all from that posh school he went to no doubt. I can’t decide which one of you are enjoying it most?
Rodney chuckled as he batted
RODNEY: I think it is me. I am really having a lot of fun
TINA: I bet you were a good Dad Rodney?
Rodney walked over to join Tina leaving Frankie playing.
RODNEY: I don’t know about that you would have to ask them all?
TINA: All?
RODNEY: Yes I have three children, Bernice, Paul and Nicola and that’s just the ones I know about
TINA: I bet you used to play games with Paul all the time when he was little?
Rodney shook his head sadly
RODNEY: As much as I love my girls, I would of loved a son to play with but I didn’t know about Paul until about a year go. I’ll never completely forgive Val for keeping him from me
TINA: That’s dreadful. But you did have your girls?
RODNEY: Only Nicola. After Diane and I broke up I didn’t see Bernice again until she was grown up and I don’t think you ever can regain entirely the closeness. It is so awful these women who keep their children from their fathers
Tina was starting to feel uncomfortable
RODNEY: Oh sorry. That was a little insensitive of me considering your Frankie
TINA: Don’t worry I have thick skin
RODNEY: So how about Frankie’s father you haven’t mentioned him and from his earlier comments about wanting a “Daddy” I take it his isn’t around?
TINA: Oh that story is just too complicated. But I will say this Frankie’s Dad was a waste of space and he is best off without him.
RODNEY: Surely not that bad?
TINA: Oh believe me Rodney I kept tabs on the family through the years and my Frankie is better off without them. However if he had had a father like you it would have been a very different story. I don’t understand at all why Diane or that Val would keep their children from you?
Rodney looked at his watch,
TINA: Oh my what is the time, I’ve been having such a lovely time with you that I nearly forgot that I have to go and see Zoë Tate
RODNEY: It is 2:45! And I have really enjoyed this afternoon too.
Both Tina and Rodney drew in for a kiss but were stopped when they heard a loud crash
FRANK: Oops
TINA: (Shouting) Frankie what have you done
Frank pointed up to a broken bedroom window where Nicola stood frowning
RODNEY: (shouting up) Oh hello Princess didn’t realise you were home
NICOLA: If that child wants his cricket ball back he is going to have to come up here for it
Cain walked into the B&B and rang on the bell until Terry came out
CAIN: I’m looking for my cousin Tina Dingle or she might be calling herself King now
JIMMY: Hold on, I was here first. I’m looking for my scheming soon to be ex-wife
TERRY: Sadie’s upstairs and as for Tina, she’s not here. Haven’t seen her since this morning
CAIN: Well I’m going to wait if it is all the same to you.
Before Terry could voice an objection Cain went and sat down in one of the seats with his back to the door while Jimmy headed upstairs.
TERRY: (after Jimmy) Hey, you can’t just go up there?
However at that moment Tina walked into the B&B having left Frankie with Rodney.
TINA: Hi Terry, sorry about missing you at lunchtime but something came up
TERRY: Oh that’s okay I was a bit worried that you weren’t coming back
TINA: (seductively) Now would I do that to you?
Cain got up and walked over to Tina’s side
CAIN: Well if it isn’t little cousin Tina
TINA: (groaning) Oh no. Which cousin are you? On second thoughts I’d rather not know
SADIE: Well well well
They all looked in the direction of the voice and there in the centre of the stairs stood Sadie followed closely by Jimmy.
JIMMY: Sadie come back I haven’t finished with you
TINA: (under her breath) This just gets better and better
CAIN: Surely you remember me Tina, I’m cousin Cain? And we were close as kids
TINA: (pulling a face) Ah Cain of course, I am afraid I really do not have time now for family reunions and that goes for you two too (pointing at Sadie and Jimmy)
CAIN: So it is true you are one of them
SADIE: She is not
JIMMY: And neither are you?
SADIE: Oh shut up Jimmy
TINA: (smiling sweetly at Cain) Yes it is, I am a King now. Now Sadie are you going to stand on those stairs all day or am I going to have to shove past you? I need to go up them?
Sadie marched down the stairs and grabbed Tina by the throat
SADIE: Now listen here you little bitch, if you think you are going to come to Emmerdale and mess things up for my family again you are greatly mistaken
Cain pulled Sadie off Tina
TERRY: Now now ladies please stop this
CAIN: Yes you get off our Tina. I warned you yesterday what happens if you interfere with the Dingles.
TINA: Thanks Cain, thanks Terry. I am afraid Sadie has always been a little unhinged
SADIE: Why you little…
Terry pulled Sadie back
TERRY: I am warning you, do anything else to Tina and you are out of here. Tina’s a mate and I’m not going to have you upsetting her alright?
Sadie nodded.
JIMMY: Why did you come back Sadie anyway? The Kings don’t want you, and now it looks like you are going to be thrown out of here
SADIE: (laughing) has your father not told you?
JIMMY: Told me what?
SADIE: I am very much back in with the family, back in the fold Jimmy and there’s nothing you can do about it.
JIMMY: You are lying
SADIE: Like the phoenix I have risen from the ashes. If you don’t believe me just ask Tom
Jimmy frowned before making a hasty retreat
TINA: As much fun as this all is I really have to go upstairs and get ready before picking Frankie up and heading off to Home Farm
SADIE: Home Farm?
TINA: Yes that’s right. Zoë and I are old friends. (Tina laughed.) Nice seeing you again Sadie, we must really catch up properly sometime
Tina smirked while Sadie looked slightly disconcerted.
Tina made her way up the stairs and Sadie made her way on to the Street.
It was 3:30pm and right on the dot the doorbell rang. Zoe was sat in the drawing room and it was Callum who answered the door.
CALLUM: Zoe, it is Rachel with your 3:30. A Mrs King
Zoe got up in a rage
ZOE: I thought I told you Rachel I was not selling to any King
RACHEL: This is Tina King and her son Frank
Tina bounced into the drawing room
TINA: Hello Zoe, I can’t say I blame you for not wanting to sell to them Kings. However as you can see I’m very much not a King
Zoe stood there in a state of shock, the former Tina Dingle was the last person she ever expected to see again
ZOE: Tina
CALLUM: You two know each other
ZOE: Oh yes we most certainly do
RACHEL: Which is why I let her come here today. She isn’t a King
ZOE: No definitely not
TINA: Oh before I forget I was so sorry to hear about Frank’s death and I would of come back for the funeral but I was too busy having my Frankie here and wasn’t in a position to travel
ZOE: I’m surprised you would of heard about that
TINA: Oh yes definitely my then bosses were old friends of Frank, they told me immediately they heard
Zoe turned her attention to the little boy who had been standing there quietly at his mother’s side. Zoe couldn’t take her eyes off of him. Finally she spoke
ZOE: Frankie is it?
FRANK: That’s what Mummy calls me but my real name is just Frank
ZOE: Ah I see
TINA: Yes after your Dad
Zoe looked surprised at Tina for a second before turning her attention back to Frank
ZOE: So Frankie, would you like to go and play with my daughter Jean and have some cookies and milk? It is a shame my nephew Joseph isn’t here he is about the same age as you I suspect but we have a lot of his toys around
FRANK: Oh yes please? Can I Mummy?
TINA: I suppose so. But not long mind as we have to get back
ZOE: Back to where?
TINA: The B&B, I’m staying here a few days. But I would I like to conclude the business in hand as soon as possible.
ZOE: Oh yes. Well I’ll just get Effie to take Frankie and we will proceed. And Frankie you will have to come again when Joseph is home while you are still in Emmerdale
Effie came to collect Frank to take him to play with Jean
Over at Pear Tree Cottage Jimmy had been staring into space from the moment he had got back to the office. How could his father let Sadie back into the family? Didn’t Jimmy’s feelings count for anything? Jimmy was seething with rage and he was by now past caring. He wished he had quit the family years ago when he had the chance with Mrs Jennings. But as always Sadie had messed that all up. Now she looked set to muck up his life again. What Jimmy was in need of was a bit of Tender Loving Care to relieve his sorrows and damn the consequences and whatever his father might have to say.
Jimmy walked over to Kelly’s desk
JIMMY: Kelly love, you can leave that now. You have worked so hard all day. So why don’t you leave early tonight
KELLY: Are you sure?
JIMMY: Yes, we are hardly busy and we could go for a drink if you like to celebrate your first day?
KELLY: (barely able to contain her eagerness) Really?
JIMMY: (with a twinkle in his eyes) and you can tell me more about your modelling days
Jimmy looked into Kelly’s eyes and placed her hand in his
KELLY: (batting her eyes up and down) I would like that very much and I know a place we can go that will be just perfect
With that Jimmy and Kelly packed their things away and left hand in hand.
MATTHEW: (to Carl) Looks like you have lost your chance there
CARL: Nah, don’t think so. No one wants Jimmy. She’s just teasing him. What would a young girl like Kelly see in him anyway?
Back at Home Farm, Tina, Zoe, Callum and Rachel were sat out on a patio drinking a cup of tea
ZOE: So Tina what brings you back to Emmerdale
TINA: Quite simply Zoe this place. The minute I saw it for sale in one of those Country Life type of magazines I just knew I had to buy it
ZOE: And why would you want to do that
TINA: Why, I fell in love with this place from the second I set foot in it and let’s just say you Tates gave me a taste for the finer things in life. It seems so sad to be leaving the Tate Family after how many years is it? Fiftreen, sixteen?
ZOE: Sixteen years. And yes it is a beautiful house but has brought my family nothing but unhappiness. I nearly didn’t sell it but I suppose you have heard about all my problems with Scott Windsor
Tina lied “No I haven’t”
ZOE: Well let’s just say I’m facing an attempted murder charge and if I get off I don’t want to stay in Emmerdale anymore. If I go to jail this place will not be any good to me. I might as well invest the money for Joseph and Jean as I don’t want any Tate now to have it after all the bad memories
TINA: I’d kill those Windsors. Starting with that vile Viv, if they crossed me
Zoe sat quietly for a minute. She had never liked Tina Dingle but suddenly she felt she could talk to her. Tina was the last true link Zoe had to her much missed father and until she had worked out exactly what Tina really was after (and she suspected she was after something), Zoe had decided to try and develop a friendship with Tina.
RACHEL: So, Ms King, would you like Callum to show you around the estate
TINA: No thanks. I know this place inside out and from what I’ve seen today it hasn’t changed much.
Tina put her cup down.
TINA: Ms Whatmore you have my solicitors details, he has all the details of what I’m prepared to pay etc, so you negotiate with him what Ms Tate here wants and I’ll go along with it
As evening arrived in Emmerdale Val walked into The Woolpack and strode up to the bar
VAL: Have you seen our Diane
PAUL: Mother, I don’t think it is a good idea you coming in here after your little stunt at lunchtime
VAL: Why evers not surely that is all forgotten
PAUL: (shaking his head) You have no idea
Bob came to join Paul serving so Val turned her attention to him
VAL: Hiya Bob
BOB: Val, what can I get you
VAL: Our Diane
Bob looked at Paul who shook his head
BOB: I don’t think that would be a good idea right now Val
PAUL: She’s very upset you know
VAL: What has she got to be upset about?
PAUL: (raising his voice) Mother, you know very well why so just go will you
VAL: Wells it is isn’t my fault that she didn’t like hearing about Matthew and Louise having an affair. The whole reason I didn’t tell her in the first place
Paul let out a deep sigh
The whole pub stopped in its track
“You could of said that a bit quieter” hissed Bob.
Betty walked over to the bar
BETTY: So what is this about Matthew and Louise
“Oh never mind” said Val as she walked out of the pub leaving Betty intrigued and determined to get to the bottom of it.
As nightfall fell Zak led Debbie and Lisa out to the barn.
ZAK: Tada
Zak unveiled a rocking horse. Debbie and Lisa stood speechless
ZAK: Well what do you think?
DEBBIE: Very nice, now can I have my surprise
Zak grunted, “this is your surprise.”
DEBBIE: You are not serious?
Zak looked hurt.
LISA: What would Debbie do with a rocking horse
ZAK: Well, I suppose it is for Sarah really but you and Belle might like it too.
DEBBIE (starting to raise her voice): Sarah. That’s all anyone thinks about.
LISA: I think Sarah is a bit young for a rocking horse really and how come it has taken you twenty-four hours to get it Zak?
ZAK: Only the best for my very first great-grandchild. It is an antique. Cost a lot of money
LISA: (raising her voice) A lot of money? We don’t have a lot of money
ZAK: Well I didn’t pay a penny for it
LISA: (sighing) Oh Zak
DEBBIE (shouting): This family is just ridiculous no wonder Tina left and never came back
With that Debbie stormed back into the house slamming the door behind her leaving Zak open-mouthed before turning to Lisa.

PART 12 Written Thursday, 23 June 2005
Sometime during the next day Kelly and Jimmy were upstairs in a bedroom at Connelton View hurriedly getting dressed. “You said it would be okay and no one would come here” said Jimmy. “Well we were ‘ere for hours yesterday weren’t we?” said Kelly. “But” replied Jimmy. “Don’t threat” bleated on Kelly. “No one should be comin’ in ‘ere ‘cause Scott’s in ‘ospital and that dumb Dawn’s in Spain.” “Well what are those noises” Jimmy hissed back. “Probably mice?” said Kelly.
However to Kelly’s shock the noises that had been coming from downstairs weren’t mice, suddenly she and Jimmy were faced with an irate Donna.
Over at Mill Cottage Nicola was getting more and more frustrated with her father’s new relationship
NICOLA: Simon, I’m starting to feel a stranger in my own home
SIMON: Nicola I’m sure you have nothing to worry about?
NICOLA: (shrieking through gritted teeth) Nothing to worry about, nothing to worry about? What planet are you on? Just look at them
Simon glanced over to the sofa where Tina and Rodney were laughing and joking oblivious to anyone else
NICOLA: And that’s another thing if that little brat of hers throws another cricket ball through another window I’m not going to be responsible for my actions
SIMON: Well I don’t see what we can do about it. Your father seems to be enjoying having both Frankie and Tina around. Besides she seems nice enough and he is a good little kid really?
Nicola glared at Simon
SIMON: Besides, you should count your blessings, she hasn’t moved in here. She is still firmly installed in the B&B and from what I hear her and Terry Woods have a past
NICOLA: That counts for nothing. If it suits her I’m sure Ms King will be moving in here. Unless of course….Simon
SIMON: Oh no don’t get me involved in whatever you are cooking up now
NICOLA: Actually I was thinking it was time your mother came to stay again. After all she hasn’t been here for all of
SIMON: A week
NICOLA: Exactly. Get on that phone to Lesley now and invite her for the entire summer
SIMON: Are you serious
NICOLA: (with a satisfied grin on her face) Oh definitely couldn’t be more so
Meanwhile back at Connelton View
DONNA: (furious) What’s going on up here and furthermore what are you two doing in here?
KELLY: (defiantly) You can talk, what are you doin’ ‘ere? Come for a quick one with lanky Marlon
Poor Donna was caught slightly off-guard by Kelly’s flippant attitude however finally she found the right words
DONNA: I’m here checking on the house while Scott and Dawn are away
KELLY: Oh, I see, well that’s exactly what Jimmy and me are doin’ (batting her eyelids up and down) ‘aint it Jimmy?
An embarrassed Jimmy nodded
KELLY: I didn’t want to come in ‘ere alone.
DONNA: (narrowing her eyes) In the bedroom?
Kelly nodded, “you don’t know what squatters might ‘ave bin up ‘ere”
DONNA: I see (not looking convinced).
KELLY: So if that’s all sis, we’ll be along in a minute
JIMMY: (shyly) after we have checked all the rooms
A despairing Donna had no choice but to leave them to it.
KELLY: Okay now’s she gone lover how about we continue where we left off
Kelly leaned in to kiss Jimmy
JIMMY: (straightening his tie and pulling her off) No way
KELLY: Why ever not, you didn’t complain before
JIMMY: If Sadie finds out about this it could cost me dearly in our upcoming divorce
KELLY: Well she won’t
Jimmy stood up “how can you say that, your sister just caught us?”
KELLY: Don’t worry about Donna. She is stupid and will believe anything I tell ‘er
JIMMY: Are you sure?
KELLY: Yes, besides, if she doesn’t believe me she still won’t say anything as she will do anything she’s told
With that Jimmy looking more relieved took Kelly into his arms and they both fell back on to the bed
Back at Mill Cottage Rodney finally got up from the sofa and addressed Simon and Nicola
RODNEY: Are you two doing anything special this evening Princess as I thought we could all spend the evening together and welcome Tina and Frankie to the village properly?
NICOLA: Why would we do that. She’s lived in this village years?
RODNEY: Nicola please? It is Paul’s night off so it will give us a chance to have a family meal together
Tina got up
TINA: And I could go to the shop and buy a nice bottle of wine. Viv’s surely bound to have something unless we had some of yours of course Rodney?
Nicola frowned
RODNEY: No, for a change it would be nice to taste the competition Tina
Rodney smiled while Nicola just frowned more so
SIMON: Well I think it will be a nice idea especially now my mother is coming tomorrow
RODNEY: She is? Whatever for
NICOLA: I felt sorry for her. Lesley isn’t all bad. So she is coming for the summer
With that Nicola walked out of the room leaving Rodney less than pleased.
On Main Street Betty and Edna were gossiping about the latest scandal to hit the village – Matthew King’s affair with Louise Appleton. Before long the whole village were talking about nothing else. It seemed Tina Dingle was yesterday’s news for now. But poor Louise couldn’t seem to walk out in public without feeling the pressure of eyes staring at her from everywhere. She even walked into the shop only to make a hasty retreat after Viv started getting on her high horse. This just made Louise mad because how dare Viv Windsor of all people pass judgement especially following her recent affair with Paddy Kirk. Of all people Viv Winsor should have been sympathetic. However it seemed Viv’s soft spot for Terry Woods made her blind to her own faults.
Up at the Dingles Lisa located Zak sitting alone on the outside bench. He seemed in a world of his own
LISA: Here you are. Oh Zak love you look like you have the weight of the world on those shoulders
ZAK: Oh Lisa I thought Debbie would like it.
LISA: It was a nice thought but her emotions are still all over the place at the moment. She’s virtually a child still herself. Give her some space she will come round
ZAK: (standing up and pacing) I suppose so. What is it with the women in this family. And what was all that about Tina too?
LISA: Oh, that is what all this is about. I thought I explained last night?
ZAK: How does Debbie know about Tina anyway? You didn’t explain that. I thought I said that name is banned from this house
LISA: Well, we were looking at old photos yesterday and I had to explain to her who she was after all there were pictures of Tina in the family albums
ZAK: Well we should destroy them. Tina has lost all rights to call herself a Dingle so we should have nothing of her in this house
LISA: Why. Tina was, no, is your daughter
ZAK: No you were right the first time, “was” my daughter. She is long gone now. Best to forget she ever existed as I doubt we’ll see her again
LISA: You can’t possibly mean that
ZAK: Can’t I?
LISA: You never know she might come back one day
ZAK: No, she won’t. Why should she, she is probably lording it on some Island somewhere with some millionaire
LISA: We are still her family
ZAK: No we are not. Tina has made that quite plain. No one turns their back on the Dingles. As far as I am concerned she might as well of never existed and if she ever dares to show her face in this village again I’ll tell her so
Lisa looked shock
ZAK: I only hope Debbie doesn’t do the same
LISA: Debbie? I’m sure she won’t
ZAK: I don’t know Lisa. Debbie reminds me so much of Tina at that age. We must do everything we can to make sure we don’t lose her too
Lisa nodded
Over at the Post Office Tina breezed in
TINA: I’ll have a bottle of your finest wine
VIV: (with hands on hips and sighing) So it is true then, I heard you are back
TINA: Nice to see you too V.I.V (she hissed through gritted teeth)
Emily passed Tina a bottle of wine
EMILY: You two know each other then?
TINA: (under her breath ) Yes, unfortunately
VIV: This Emily is the infamous Tina Dingle your…
TINA: (interrupting) Actually the name is now Tina King. You can call me Mrs King if you like? (she smirked)
VIV: Oh that figures (she scowled). Typical, Betty didn’t tell me that part.
EMILY: In fairness Mrs Windsor you didn’t give Mrs Eagleton chance to before you barred her yesterday
Tina laughed, “Oh yes I read about that today in the paper.” Viv frowned. “Anyway here’s the money for the wine, I must be off. Be seeing you all around”
“I’ve no doubt you will see Emily about after all she is your sister-in-law” shouted Viv after Tina just as she was going out the door. Tina turned back and exclaimed “she is my sister-in-law?” “I believe we are” said Emily. Tina rolled her eyes before leaving.
VIV: Hey, hold on a minute, what did she say about a newspaper
Emily picked up the day’s Hotten Courier and browsed through.
EMILY: Mrs Windsor I think you should take a look at this. Page 7 down the right hand side.
Viv read out loud the headline “PENSIONERS BANNED FROM VILLAGE SHOP!”. “Oh blimey, that’s all I need” exclaimed Viv.
EMILY: It might turn out okay
VIV: No it won’t, nothing ever does. The only thing that would solve all my problems is if my Kelly bagged one of those Kings!
Meanwhile up at Home Farm
CALLUM: Are you okay Zoe?
ZOE: Yes, why?
CALLUM: It’s just that you have been very quiet since Ms King left yesterday.
ZOE: (laughing) Now, there is an irony, Ms King!
CALLUM: What do you mean.
ZOE: See all of this Callum (waving her arms around), this now could quite easily have been all Tina’s and instead of being Ms King, she could have been Mrs Tate
CALLUM: How come?
ZOE: If she had played ball with my father that is.
CALLUM: I don’t follow?
ZOE: Tina came to work here in 1996 as my father’s housekeeper. Tina Dingle she was then. She quickly proved to my father she was not like the rest of the Dingles and how efficient she was at her job. So he quickly promoted her to be his PA and then he was confiding in her about virtually everything. She was his one true confidante.
CALLUM: Oh,
ZOE: If you listen to the gossips, it is still thought to this day that my father and Tina were lovers
CALLUM: Were they?
ZOE: No, well I didn’t think so, at least not until yesterday. We found all sorts of pictures and mementoes of Tina in drawers after my father died, but well I just don’t know. He always swore that they weren’t lovers. Although he did confide in me once that he had wanted to take the relationship further and had asked Tina to marry him. However she turned him down and fled the village on Christmas Eve 1996, the day of the tragic Home Farm fire that cost Dave Glover his life. However that’s another story entirely.
CALLUM: That’s all very interesting…
ZOE: (interrupting) I just don’t get why she turned the chance down to have all this freely once before and now Tina wants to buy Home Farm.
CALLUM: Well, shouldn’t we just be grateful that you have a seller and let her have it whatever her motives. She is offering you a lot of money?
ZOE: Probably.
Zoe remained silent for a while.
ZOE: How old do you think that little boy really is?
CALLUM: I don’t know, 7 or 8 perhaps?
ZOE: Yes I think so too.
CALLUM: May be older?
ZOE: No definitely not older. Tina didn’t have a child when she left Emmerdale but that is not to say she wasn’t pregnant when she left.
CALLUM: Didn’t she say he was born around the same time your father died?
ZOE: Yes she did, but that could be a lie. After all she is a Dingle by blood whatever name she goes by now
CALLUM: And he is named after your father? I picked up on that and found it very odd
ZOE: I noticed that too. She must of been pregnant when she left Emmerdale if that little boy was born when she says he was
CALLUM: Perhaps because Tina was pregnant ishe left then?
ZOE: Yes, quite likely, well that’s what I’m beginning to think anyway. She could of because she had seen my father’s wranglings with Kim over James and didn’t want the same to happen to her child?
CALLUM: What are you saying Zoe?
ZOE: What I am saying Callum is that I think there is a possibility that that little boy, Frank King, is my brother!
CALLUM: You don’t want to jump to any conclusions Zoe
ZOE: I’ve already got one little brother out there, James, and I don’t know where he is. I grew up not knowing about another brother I had too. I am not going to let this one go. If Frank King is really my half-brother I’m going to find out. Jean and Joseph have a right to know their family so does little Frank
CALLUM: And what about Home Farm?
ZOE: Oh yes, Tina can have Home Farm if she wants to. She’s put in an over the odds bid, but she can only have it when I get to the bottom of Frank King’s true parentage!
TO BE CONTINUED!

Impressive! I feel this is obviously to do with Tina rather than Charity!
I am wondering how she became to be Mrs. King though?

you will have to read it through Sharon. I don't know how far you have got but already in the first 12 parts a lot has been revealed and who she is married to. In Part 13 which I'm currently working on (having not written any for 3 months) it all comes out how Tina got embroiled with the Kings.
Charity will be making an appearance soon for a convened Dingle court. Can't have an Emmerdale story without a Dingle court seeing as they play a prominant role.
