Steven Culp, who played Desperate Housewives' Rex Van De Kamp, is to make an unexpected return to the programme.
The actor has reportedly been lined up to narrate an upcoming male-orientated episode of the current season, meaning resident narrator Mary Alice (Brenda Strong) would be sidelined for the episode.
Culp's character was bumped off by his wife Bree's (Marcia Cross) obsessed stalker George Williams (Roger Bart) at the end of the first season.

It is being rumoured it could be tied in to Bree's exit as her story comes to a head and Marcia Cross takes 5 episodes off for maternity leave.
There are conflicting reports of when this story will air. Some believe it will air during US February sweeps around valentine's day, so about episode 15 or so of the season. Others say it will be filmed in February for a March airing.
Looking forward to it. I was sorry they killed off Rex.

I remember well her almost iconic scene at the kitchen table when she burst into tears having just found out about Rex's death. It really was Marcia at her best.

I give Marcia that. It was good. Although I don't rate Marcia as high as some. She is good at what she does but she really is a one trick pony with that grin constantly and dead pan dialogue. Many actor's can do that. She doesn't have to stretch her scope very far. The writing does it for her. She seems to play weirdos in everything. Season 3 she seems worse than ever although the story she is involved in is very strong and the central arc of Season 3.
