May contain a few small spoilers. Read at your own peril! First thoughts are: Wow! It's back, and I get to open this thread. Brilliant! All I can say is that the show is truly back on form. Episode One was definitely 10/10, while Episode Two was 9/10 - as episodes twos always are anyway! LOL!!! It all started with a fairly good recap of the last series, so returnees/newbies like Jez and Sharon should have no problems catching up in that respect. Orson played a fairly big part as well, especially with his past containing a shocking secret. Bree also got a few shocks - one was quite hilarious I have to admit. Orson, it turns out, is very generous in certain ways! You will all see soon enough anyway. As for the rest, well Susan is as confused and ditzy as ever - and it doesn't look like Julie's new love interest will impress her either. As for Lynette - she's a wee bit stressed. Could her and Tom's marriage really be on the rocks? Gabby meanwhile is also hilarious - as she and the surrogate/maid aren't exactly close. There are also several surprises between herself and Ricardo. An unexpected event at the end of the episode looks to have ruined everything they have hoped for. And Edie? I wanted her to feature, and she did albeit briefly. Not near enough. A few comic scenes as she trys to sell a house just ain't enough. She needs a big story.

Unfortunately Edie is considered to be a supporting character and if she is ever up for awards she is always put in the supporting categories. I think it is a great shame as she is one of the more interesting characters and I love her hate double act with Susan. I think Edie might be my favourite but then they always say the best things come in small quantities. She does appear on some the promos and posters but on others it is just the four. Even in the opening credits at the end it is just the four main ones.
As to the first two episodes. Well, I was completely blown away by them. They were far better than I anticipated. 10/10 for episode 1 and I think 9.5/10 for episode 2. Those lime dresses were just so hidious yet genius. I can't stand Bree. You used to be able to relate to her but she is now a character you can't relate to she is just so OTT and ridiculous so I was dreading episode 2 having seen promos and knowing she was going to be centre stage, however my hatred for her didn't matter, the episode worked so well and her story is so good.
My husband was never that bothered but endured DH for me and I endured it as a long-term Teri Hatcher fan (doesn't mean I'm necessarily a Susan fan but I will always be a Teri one), well the first two episodes we laughed our socks off and just adored it and my husband is completely hooked. I can never remember watching two episodes of DH and enjoying them so more nor being desperate (forgive the pun) for more.
All things considered season 3 is shaping up to the best yet. Without divulging spoilers there are just so many intricate plots going on and characters that are just so fasinating. I never rewatch DH but I will be tonight and eagerly await episode 3 on Channel 4 and episode 4 on E4 next Wednesday.
This season has so many new interesting characters to that interwine with our 5 heroines.

Just watched both episodes on C4 - really enjoyed then, its definately back on top form! Made me laugh out loud several times during the episode. Love the storyline with Bree and Orsen - I wonder how long it will be before the truth comes out, its obvious she has her doubts. Thought Bree's surprise was very amusing as well! Susan's new fella pretending she was a doctor when his in law's turned up was quite amusing. Edie's nephew is a bit of allright isnt he - how obvious that he was turn up with his shirt off when Julie was there - I bet they will end up getting together eventually. He is much better eye candy than the overrated John who I believe is back for 1 episode next week. I think Lynette is my fave out of all the housewives - she really makes me laugh. That awful woman who her husband has a child with was very amusing, especially when Lynette was telling her to take back her boyfriend, and the family Christmas photo at the start of episode one was hilarious! Gaby is the one who annoys me the most, but her "test drive a car before buying it" comment to Bree about Orsen was funny! Edie was underused in this episode - I have a feeling her nephew is going to feature more than she will this season. Overall id say 9/10 for both episodes. Looking forward to next weeks.

They have just extended Orson's contract but no one knows how long he was originally signed for and how long he will actually stay. I think at the very least he is expected to stay the season.

I'm delighted that you two enjoyed it as much as I did. I felt the two episodes were brilliant.
Orson will stay for the season anyway. I'm sure of that as he seems to be proving really popular.
I agree that the scene with Dr. Mayer were hilarious, as were several other scenes in the first two episodes. I'm liking Dougary Scott as her new love interest though, even if it all did get too complicated with Karl, the Doctor and Mike all around her last season.

I loved all the scenes Jez highlighted and some it is hard to remember as there were so many. Those keylime dresses still crack me up. I love Ian it would be nice if Susan could end up with him but somehow I don't think it is going to happen. Will he turn out to be involved in the mystery too? I hope not. Susan is expected to player a bigger part in the latter half of the season.
There is a strong debate about Orson being a good or bad guy and as the Americans seem to have progressed through the season they seem to be split down the middle. You even get people who find justification for him running over Mike. However for me having just seen the beginning of the season it is still fresh in my mind and I feel certain that Orson has to be bad in the end just the whole way they set up the first episode and the opening scene before the credits?
What do you all think? I think to turn him good now would be back peddling and re-writing history and whatever Mike has done there is no justification to run him over. I don't know if Orson will be a killer but to me he is not a nice person.
Oh and I love Nora. She is so awful that she is funny. You will be hard pressed to find an American who says they like her. Whether they follow the leader I don't know but for saying you enjoy Nora you can be shot for. The actress is playing it very well IMO. In fact out-acting the others.

Nora is a brilliant addition to the Scavo family I think, and should add plenty of tension to the household.
As for Orson, it is extremely interesting Lane that you are saying how his character has seemingly been back-tracked through season three. That sounds like it will be great to watch, as I currently feel he is only one thing - a complete sociopath.

That sounds like it will be great to watch, as I currently feel he is only one thing - a complete sociopath. From where I'm sitting Eithne, I'm with the sociapath theory too. I don't know what the Americans have seen that makes 50% of them seem to change their minds. But I think they have just forgotten the setup at the end of Season 2 (which I rewatched last night on Ch4 to remind me) and the the first episodes of Season 3, it seems obvious to me he is not right in the head in some way. I think Marc Cherry is probably being very clever and nothing will be what it seems but I will feel let down if he turns out to be completely good. I just don't see it It is like cheating us with the Dallas dream all over again if they do. However I don't think they will. Cherry is too clever for that. And what's the story of his friend in the mental hospital (seen in Season 2)? Who is Monique? Too tired to think straight so I'm going to quit now.

Well, this came back with a bang, and back to it's best ( Like series 1 )
It was two very good episodes. Poor Bree, she is so hopeless at picking men.
I can't wait for the next episode, it looks like Andrew will be back, won't Orsen love that. ;D

Yes there were so many scenes other than those I have mentioned but too many to remember! I havent decided about Nora yet - I love Lynette and she seems to be a good double act with Lynnette as she irritates her so much. But she can be annoying!

A shame Orsen is there for the full season, he is quite annoying on times! Will the Doctor from the last season and karl appear in this season at all? Agree about Orson but I'm sure he was always meant to be there for the best part of the season if not all of it as he is at the centre of the mystery/mysteries. As to the Doctor, sadly (I say that as I liked him) I don't think there is any chance he will be back at all. Out of the first 10 episodes Karl has been in one episode and I think it is 8 ('Children & Art') or around there in the role of parent of Julie as opposed to lover of Susan. Julie has her own major story as well as being caught up in the hostage situation so I won't put in spoiler here to tell you why Karl is back. Susan's story has moved on to the Comotosed Jane/Ian/Susan/Mike/Edie with Mike and Susan being drawn into the Orson mystery as the season progresses. Remains to be seen where Ian fits in. I hope he is a good guy but this is Desperate Housewives.

Gaby is the one who annoys me the most, but her "test drive a car before buying it" comment to Bree about Orsen was funny! Yes that was funny, however the general feeling regarding Gabby across is what you think. She is annoying people or boring them as her story and personality go round in circles. The only thing that seems to be keeping her popular is the actress's sex appeal. I used to find Gabby highly entertaining and rather charming but even I am starting to go with the general flow. As summed up by one person on a board I read who was discussing all the characters "Gabby, bored already." Then they moved on to the next.

Edie's nephew telling Edie that Susan's daughter couldnt keep her eyes of his abs was another line that was very amusing.
Yes I totally agree about Gaby going around in circles. If she isnt shagging John she is plotting against Carlos. She is the one who has run her course I think.
