SPOILER ALERT don't read this post if you don't want to know.
There has been a persistant rumour on DH message boards that the reason they didn't write Marcia Cross's pregnancy into the series is because they already have a character lined up to fall pregnant and they thought two would be too much. Indeed in official press releases Marc Cherry did say he thought Bree being pregnant would be too much with everything else coming up. So we know for a fact it isn't Bree.
No one so far has in America but feelers have been put out and will be put out as the season progresses. From all the clues dropped in the first 10 episodes the hot favourites are Julie and Danielle with third for Edie - although it could be any of the females except Bree.
I really don't think it is Edie but as the season progresses let the guessing begin. For the record I'm with Danielle and Julie with Julie slightly a head, the possibilities for her are endless. The one we least suspect, the rows it will cause with Edie and Susan etc and the way her story developes throughout the season and she is that bit younger than Danielle, so more shocking.

Well if a character is to fall pregnant I would say it would be most likely to be Julie, out of those you have mentioned. Although a baby would be good for Edie as well - in some, but not all ways. Danielle was not at her mothers wedding, so where is she? Do you know Lane (aka DH Queen)?

Nice of you to say but I'm not a DH queen. I just read a lot of the boards out there and have been a member of the Lois & Clark board for years which of course has a Teri section and what do they talk about and I find out too much from there. However I'll probably be bored soon. As to Danielle who knows. I do know she is back, when I'm not sure. Could be next week I just don't know. She is in the "Nice She Ain't" US promos so she has to be back then. I think the order of the pregnancy favourites across the net are as follows : 1) Danielle 1 more or less tied Julie 3) Edie 4) Susan 5) Gabby 6) Lynette 7) Someone else 8) Bree (which we all know it isn't) I can't see it being Lynette, won't add to her story any she already has four children of her own plus a step one, an extra baby isn't going to add any dimensions to that equation. We have already had her with a new baby in season 1 with Penny and the frustrations there. Gabby with baby, sorry we have been there done that and I personally think it would be boring to embark on another pregnancy story - when the last two didn't go down to well - with Gabby happening any time this season. Susan with Ian I don't think I can remember why now, however to be honest once you tie a character down with a baby (assuming it is actually born) you are tied with a baby to fit into storylines. We already have the Desperate Housewife with children - Lynette. Now Edie could be interesting but would it get in the way of her character ultimately being a bitch and flirting around. Edie is what Edie is and a child could cramp her style. There is a strong case for Edie as you will see as the story unfolds if you haven't already read some spoilers like me. You perhaps know. Danielle has a story upcoming and the main arguement with she is a favourite is because of the refusal to write Bree's pregnancy in. People believe this is because of Danielle I think the whole dynamics of Julie and Austin though has a very strong case and especially if it is true Claire King is coming in as Edie's sister. She has to be Austin's mother surely if it is? Why else bring her in?

Episode Four: "Susan receives some surprising news while she's away on a romantic weekend with Ian, Lynette continues to try and support the family while Tom chases his dreams, and Bree finds her family is anything but perfect. Plus: Edie moves in on Susan's territory."

Okay here are some press links that give spoilers At last they are hearing are wishes. More Edie. Bring her on I say. Wasn't sure where to put the below link, if it belonged in here or in the Marcia thread or both. It is a piece about ABC TV's programming but at the bottom says a small thing about Marcia Cross and when they filmed at her home etc. It also says they hope to have her back for the season finale (that's why I thought it might be a spoiler). It also says her last episode before her maternity leave will be the 4th Feb, of course there isn't a new episode on the 4th Feb. So that is wrong. Her last episode is believed to be the 18th February. www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20008551,00.html oh and a little bit more here that definately comes under spoiler www.macon.com/mld/macon/entertainment/16461220.htmAlso found this other link that says Marcia was supposed to leave in episode 17 but they have had to move it forward to episode 15 and she won't be seen after that but they are hoping she will be back for the Season finale. www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2007-01-14-presstour_x.htm

Thanks for all that Lane. I'm avoiding spoilers big time at the moment after accidentally finding out a big one about DH. I was devastated, and I'm sure you will be as well.
Anyway, back on topic and I'm delighted that Edie will take a more prominent role soon. I was reading somewhere recently about her son being mentioned only in the pilot, and then being totally forgotten about. He was rumoured to be arriving in town early in the second season, but I guess they never got around to that.
And I wonder who the romance that she is to have will be with? The only two I can think of are Tom Scavo and Carlos.

The son is going to be cast too, to the surprise of everyone? Everyone had thought histoy had been re-written and he had been forgotten about. However it was announced on Sunday at the Winter Press Conference by ABC in the DH bit, the son is coming to town. Where has he been?
I can only think of Carlos or Tom. But Cherry has said he is reluctant to cause any real friction with Lynette and Tom, and wants to keep them together. I'm thinking Carlos
I wonder if it is the spoiler I'm thinking. If it is I'm not best pleased?
I would advise any UKers not wanting to know who dies in Bang, dont watch any the promos or read anything beyond episode 7. There are a lot of candidates it could be and it will really spoil it for anyone who doesn't know who dies. Although by episode 7 you probably can guess the US people seemed to on the whole.
And if you do not want to discover what happened to one half of the season mystery, then do not read or watch any spoilers/promos beyond episode 9 as one half of the mystery is revealed in episode 10. And I'm gutted I know it too. Although it does pose even more questions.

The spoiler that I stumbled upon was to do with a/the person killed in Bang. I was gutted by it, so am now avoiding major spoilers like that as much as I can.
Carlos is the best bet to be Edie's new love IMO, but you never know in Wisteria Lane do you? Could be anyone!

Okay just for Jez, you want to know the twist at the end of episode 8. I don't know how much you want to know, but involves Art. The hero in Lynette's eyes as a result of his actions in episode 7. However through her son, she soon discovers that he may have a dark secret. At this stage we are not meant to be sure if she is jumping to conclusions because of his profession. It is designed to make you feel uncomfortable and caused a lot of debate in the US. Mercifully this story will be wrapped up very very quickly.
If you want to know more Jez PM me as I really don't want to ruin it for you or anyone.
-----------------------
In other spoiler news by the end of this season there will be two weddings. One a fairytale affair the other a quickie. Speculation has it that the weddings may involve Gaby, Ian, Edie, Carlos, newcomers and Susan. Although this is Desperate Housewives so it could be anybody. And just because there are weddings doesn't necessarily mean there will be marriages either in both cases, although I suspect we can expect at least one marriage.
Bree leaves in episode 14 or 15 can't remember which, and they hope she will be back for the season finale. Probably Episode 15.
Kayla will be back from episode 11 and she has some unresolved issues regarding her mother's death.
No word on who is pregnant yet. Despite the new twists I'm still sticking with Julie, close second Danielle. The Austin/Julie story gets more complicated as it goes on.
The Ian/Susan/Mike love triangle will reach a climax by May.

God, That's Good

Ep 20 Gossip
Susan goes to the therapist and realizes she must choose between Ian and Mike. Travers is having a birthday party which only spells trouble for Mrs. McCluskey.
Ep 21 Into The Woods
Mike comes to Susan and Ian's rescue. After the Pizzeria is robbed, Tom makes a disturbing discovery.
RUMOURS COMING UP TO END OF THE SEASON
Susan will learn about the bet Ian and Mike made during the poker game. When meeting with a therapist, she claims that she is done with both men. Her therapist, Dr. Bowde, quickly has her admit she still loves both and needs to choose one.
Susan and Ian will be involved in a massive car accident (see the Canadian promo for episode 18 in the promos, schedules thread). One of the most daring stunts the show has ever pulled apparently.
One of the show's leading ladies will find herself in the throes of a life-threatening health crisis at the end of the season. (Some reports suggest Susan).
A 19-year-old teen drops a packaged marked “personal and confidential” at Victor’s house. Gaby is the one who accepts delivery and, of course, she decides to take a peek. Seconds after the teen is gone, Gaby looks in the envelope and sees scandalous pictures as well as a blackmail note.
Mrs. McCluskey is at the hospital. She also has a dark secret in her freezer and ends up being branded a witch.
Lynette is left running the Pizzeria on her own when Tom's back gives out. Under lots of preasures after one thing after another goes wrong, she draws close to a new employee. They don't necessarily begin an affair however they become pretty close to it.
Bree is expected back in the season finale
Two weddings are planned for the end of the season however it is unclear whether they will go a head or not. One is Gaby to her new beau and the other is Susan but not necessarily her chosen man.

Cheers for the spoilers, Lane.
Is Gaby's new beau the one we first saw in last weeks C4 episode? I hope not - that line he said "thats the girl im going to marry" was so cheesy.
I think Susan will end up choosing Mike and they will get married.

Post by Lane Kent on Apr 15, 2007 20:40:56 GMT
I think it is. I really hope not too. Totally agree awful. Let's hope it doesn't happen.
What I didn't put in the spoilers is that Gaby's wedding day is a huge affair, fairytale like after she hijacks all of Susan's plans when Susan decides she isn't having any of the men in her life. When Susan eventually has her wedding she elopes which would suggest Susan's marriage actually happens. I also think it will be Mike as a result of a rumoured cancer scare. And I do think it will be Susan who will have the cancer scare to take her story in a different direction and give her characterisation more depth in the fourth season.
Some people think the health scare will be Bree's story for Season 4. However surely she will have enough on her hands with Danielle and if Orson is still around too?
There are quite a lot of spoilers out there for all the episodes now except the last one. However I didn't want to post too many here and ruin it all. Also I'm not reading them all myself.
One other little bit. Mike plans to move from his home and Carlos wants to continue living there, however Edie goes to the house's owner to try and stop them renting to Carlos for her own motives.
Oh and Mike Delfino's brother is coming to Wisteria Lane apparently. Possibly we will first meet him in the Season finale and he is apparently going to feature in a number of episodes of Season 4. If he is turning up in the season finale, this would also lean to possibly Mike and Susan marrying - turning up for the wedding perhaps?
Also Rosanne Barr has apparently been hired to have a re-occurring rule in Season 4.

I believe the below refers to tonight's E4 episode and next week's channel 4 one. extratv.warnerbros.com/2007/04/housewives_hottie_james_denton.html April 11, 2007 Housewives Hottie James Denton Undressed A drenched Teri Hatcher is hanging on for dear life this week on “Desperate Housewives,” and Dougray Scott is about to make a stunning admission to his on-camera love: he can’t swim! But not to worry, a shirtless James Denton saves the day. “I hope they put the love handle filter on the camera,” Denton joked with “Extra,” as we got the exclusive first look at the blockbuster stunt. Meanwhile, when the stunt didn’t go as planned, it was Teri Hatcher who helped re-write the scene on the spot. And she never once hesitated when it came time to spend the bulk of her workday in the murky lagoon at Universal Studios. “Apparently they told me, I’m so gullible, it’s been tested,” she said. “I said, ‘Listen, you might have the bacterial tests, but I’m watching ducks poop in it right now!’” Even though the hunky James has been shirtless on “Extra” before, he was still a little apprehensive before baring his chest at the office. But how much preparation did Denton get to prepare for his buff cameo? “That’s a good question; they didn’t give me much … I took my shirt off one time on this show once in three years, and I was really not in very good shape,” he said. “I'm still not in great shape because I'm not a kid, but I'm about 10 or 20 pounds lighter.” But as far as our Tanika Ray and Teri Hatcher were concerned, James had nothing to worry about! “How hot was that?” Teri asked. See the hot “Housewives” action unfold when an all-new “Desperate Housewives” hits ABC Sunday night! Posted by ExtraTV Staff on April 11, 2007 1:29 PM

Some rumours are now suggesting that Lynette maybe the one with cancer? Lynette and Susan seem the most likely candidates but US TV Guide and a TV Critic on US magazine show "EXTRA" are saying Lynette. ------------- A couple of spoilers here in TV Guide's May Sweeps round up www.tvguide.com/news-views/Interviews-Features/Article/default.aspx?posting=%7B71FB4937-8948-478B-AC05-F0A1FED81FFD%7D. I've also seen them on www.spoilerfix.com so I'm guessing they may of got them from TV Guide too. Two things took my notice. One it does look like only 23 episodes with the 23rd being only an hour long (despite the fact spoilerfix still says 24 episodes). The other thing is on the 13th May it says "someone says goodbye." There can only be two candidates surely? Travers (who is meant to leave after a month) or the most likely one I am expecting it to be is Ian? According to Marc Cherry, in the next-to-last episode of the season, Susan and Gabrielle have it out, because one is stealing the wedding plans of the other. It's a very, very funny episode where the two women fight over wedding planners and caterers and florists." Source: Kristin on E!Online The Season finale features two weddings and a honeymoon extramarital affair. Source: TV Guide Online Marcia Cross is scheduled to reappear in the season finale (on May 20 in the US). The finale episode was also supposed to introduce Mike's "rebellious and rugged" younger brother, but that's now been confirmed for early next season. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide
