It was on teletext last night that Channel 4 have shelved Season 4 of DH from their schedules. It was initally scheduled to return in January. Now it is indefinately shelved because of the US writer's strike. Eithne any news in Ireland? For Channel 4/E4 viewers if you want an idea what is going on and see the offcially released ABC clips then visit the thread letstalksoap.proboards34.com/index.cgi?board=housewives&action=display&thread=1188419194&page=1 which contains mini synopsis, all the offical promos and sneak peeks. I think it is ridiculous of Channel 4 and a good mind to contact ABC about making their episodes available to UK viewers. Not that they will listen. I really don't see what Channel 4's problem is because in the UK we are used to having seasons of 6-10 episodes. So so what if ABC only have 9 episodes ready (and a 10th has been filmed). Channel 4 could of made 2 seasons out of DH for the price of one. Now they have the risk of damaging the series interest in the UK. By May/June our audiences drop by 50% at least in the summer months, and Channel 4's audiences aren't particularly high anyway. I can't see any other channel being able to buy them either because Channel 4 brought exclusive digital/analogue rights for seasons' 3 & 4 at $40million in early 2006.

Finally an online confirmation at www.whatsontv.co.uk/news/2389 (spoilers involved) Starting to wander from things I'm reading whether Channel 4 want out of their contract as they are getting a lot of flack for the money they are spending on US shows. ABC Disney was committed to providing them with 23 episodes, however at this present time they only have 9 ready and a 10th that can be made ready with no clue when the rest will come. As things stand no other channel can show DH in the UK because Channel 4 spent $40million for exclusive rights for Seasons 3 and 4. However perhaps there was an opt out after Season 3 should viewing figures plummit or other unforseen disasters like strikes which Channel 4 perhaps now want to keep their options open for. If they do have an opt out, perhaps once they start showing any episodes from Season 4, then they are committed to waiting for the rest however long that might take. It doesn't really matter to CH4 if interest wanes. Ugly Betty is their little darling at the moment and brings in a similar audience figure for the channel. Although they shouldn't count their chickens where UB is concerned as that could quite easily be a flash in the pan tpye series that if it is lucky (at the rate it is going in the US) it might just get to Season 4. If Channel 4 do manage to opt out, then at least there will be lots of buyers vying for it, including the ITV network who tried for it before. Fit in well on ITV2.

How disappointing - I was looking forward to watching Season 4 next month. Not having much luck with the US shows I watch. First Prison Break went to Sky One which I cant get so I have to wait and then fork out money for the DVD. Now DH is delayed on C4. If they do lose the right I hope it is ITV or Five that gets it not Sky. Also if ITV did get it id imagine it would go on ITV1 rather than ITV2 as it would get good ratings?

AFAIK, it's back the first week in January - same as seasons 2 & 3. It was mentioned in a press release by RTE as one of the highlights of their Christmas/New Year schedule, so I'd say it'll be back then. RTE seem to have a deal in place for shows like Lost, Ugly Betty and DH which gives them the European premiere of each new episode.

So does this mean it will be on C4 as well?

I'm guessing not, as RTE would have a seperate deal with ABC (the makers of DH). Sorry Jez!

Seems daft that RTE can show it and C4 cant. I guess C4 want to show the entire series at once without a break.

Seems daft that RTE can show it and C4 cant. I guess C4 want to show the entire series at once without a break. The thing is though that this could be it for series 4 anyway. The latest round of talks have broken down, so more negotiations are unlikely until mid to late January now (as everyone will be off over Christmas and the momentum for talks will have died down a little). Even if it was solved at the end of January, the writers would still have to write episodes and then the episodes would go into the 3 stages of production, which could take as much as 3/4 weeks. So that could be the start of March at the earliest when the shows are back airing. So if it isn't solved by the end of January, there is a real possibilty that that'll be it until series 5 (assuming the strike is solved by the time they'd start filming that - July 2008).

Well last year DH started on C4 the first Wednesday of the year with a double bill and there is no sign of it in the schedules this year so I guess that confirms it.

It started on Tuesday night here after. The first episode was good, but a little underwhelming. Still beat anything else on TV though. Brilliant acting from Felicity Huffman. Carlos and Gaby were a little annoying though. Susan was incredibly irritating, especially towards Mike. She's become a clingy wife overnight. Now we know the reason why her other husband left! It's all become clear.

Its because of the writers strike - C4 want to hold it back until the full series has been made I think.

There's rumours that Channel 4 will show whatever episodes there are for Season 4 in the spring.
I take it you didn't get the controversial Susan comment?
Initially I watched Desperate Housewives because of Teri Hatcher as I am a huge Lois & Clark fan. Howeve I quickly liked them all, well except Bree who I just love to absolutely hate.
As the years past my favourites and dislikes swing back and fourth depending on the story or sometimes the Season. However I have to say I'm past caring about Felicity Huffman's acting, the character of Lynette so annoys me now. She was my favourite in Season One, Season two I started to cool towards her but still liked her, however by Season 3 I have detested her with every passing episode more and more. She is so so selfish, so demanding, so controlling, not to mention her cruelty to animals (she let's 2 die in Season 4 alone), that I'm at my wit's end with her. I know she has a cancer story now but I'm at the point I have to FF wind her because her shrieking and general selfishishness is just too repetitive now.
What I've seen of Season 4 I really like. I love Katherine and can see why Dana Delany was the first choice for Bree. However I think Dana would of been too likable and normal to be Bree. Where as Marcia Cross is perfect as the oddball, freakish Bree and I can't imagine anyone else as Bree.
The writers really waste Teri Hatcher's talents. I wish they would give her some stronger stories and stop making Susan so clutzy. Susan raised Julie on her own, is a successful children's writer and illistrator, so heck she can't be totally stupid. However through the inevitable stumbles along the way, Susan will show some backbone as Season 4 progresses I promise you that Eithne.
My favourite characters consistantly for a while now in no particular order have been Carlos, Gaby, Andrew, Danielle, Susan and Edie.

I didn't notice the Philippines comment if it was in it - but I honestly don't think it was. It's been that long since that happened that I had completely forgotten about it. I'd say it was removed though.

Heard on the Radio the other day that DH Series 4 should be on C4 around late March/Early April.

And there should be around 18 episodes instead of the 13 we all expected. I have to say that I'm loving season/series four - especially the Mayfair mystery.

Says in the TV Times that series 4 will start some time over the Easter period on C4, so not long to wait now.
