There was a thing in the paper today about the 'Smiley' :-) being invented about 25 years ago by some professor or other - sorry to be vague, but I don't have a copy with me!! This is going to make me sound really dumb but I've seen these symbols on texts, and didn't know what they meant but for the fellow unenlightened apparently you are supposed to look at them sideways and they look like a little face. Ingenious!! I was so impressed - when you look at them sideways it makes so much sense. They printed a selection: :-) smiling :-( sad ;-) winking :'-( crying :-v shouting > angry <:-l dunce 8-0 OMG! :-D laughing my lips are sealed (:-l egghead :*-) clowning around b(-_-)d thumbs up. Clever stuff - I'm sure everyone else in the universe knew this except me, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Ooh - now I've posted it some of them have come up in the picture style, rather than the text message style - doubly impressed!!

Probably because some are on here. I have noticed they vary from board to board. This just has : ) (I separated it) for smile with ; D for toothy grin while others it can be : -) and : D so gets very confusing if you're doing it manually. LOL!
