I see there is a new Belle Dingle?
I thought when I saw her last night that she was different. I first noticed she spoke a quite abit more than the other 'Belle' actress and then I did notice she looked different too, even though the hairstyles are the same.
Why is it that when a new actor/actress takes over a role, they seem to say more or something differnt - I know they have to make the role their own. The other Belle would not have got kicked out of school for bullying - that was another thing I noticed when I read it that Belle Dingle would not give Zac and Lisa the runaround - though this one would!
She's quite a gobby Belle this one, and I can see the Dingles havign fun with her.

Yes, I have just found out from the Emmy site that it is indeed another actress playing Belle. Someone called Eden something.

I liked her I thought she was quite funny. At least in another 5 years we wont have another Victoria.

I did notice at times her lips were moving in the van when Zak was saying his lines so she obviously memorised them all.
Maybe the previous Belle wanted to leave. It will be interesting to see what they do with this one since Belle never had a storyline before.

Eden Taylor Draper her name is and she is only 7 years old in real life (there was a bit about her and Emily Mather in the Let's Talk Soap last newsletter).
I've now seen her first episode. I started off liking the new Belle but by the end of her first episode she was starting to annoy me. (I haven't seen anymore of her yet)
Eden started off quite fresh appearing, but by the end of the episode she had the same reaction and ploy to every scene with her facial expressions and line delivery. At the moment they are playing on Eden's cuteness and give the little girl her due she quite obviously is full of enthusiasm so is trying her hardest. You do get the odd hyper 7 year old who could pull of just as good a performance as Eden and would remember all their lines etc. But I don't think there is any true talent there, you have just got a girl who is a good team player, keen and quite clearly tried her hardest with her first major acting job.
The new Belle's voice goes up and squeeks at the end of each sentence. I also think after a while you could tell she was waiting for each cue and the actors were waiting for her to finish her lines. It started not to be natural as they were all trying so hard.
Rachel Tolboys (Alice Bates) put in far more natural performances at 4 and 5 years old than Eden's was and I know people complain about Rachel being wooden. I didn't see her later years at Belle's age and up etc so can't comment but when she was little she was quite the natural.
People are already saying she is going to be better than Victoria Sugden in 5 years time. I think she will be far worse once the cuteness and baby fat has gone. She's a one trick pony. Hannah Midgeley can do the faciel expressions and actions just is not good at delivery lines. It was getting predictable.
Time will of course tell. I haven't seen her second episode yet so don't want to totally pass judgement on her yet until I've seen some more. But I hope they don't over do her because as I say I really quite liked her at the beginning but by scene 3 or 4 I was starting to think oh he we go.
All things considered Eden did what was expected of her and put in an adequate performance but I don't think she is a natural and hope they don't overuse her.
The actress aside, the sudden character changes in Belle I found a bit too much too. The old Belle has never really shown much more to her character than being sweet and shy. Yes people can change gradually but we are meant to suspend believe and think that within a month Belle's gone from co-operative to an animal abuser, lippy and violent to others. A little OTT in my humble opinion.. A little OTT.

Lane, you are an old frump. We never really HEARD the old Belle just saw her so the new one is like a breath of fresh air to me. Through the real Emmerdale MB I have been in touch with Eden's mum and she is a star, stop moaning. :-)
