I really am not looking forward to this very contrived storyline coming up shortly when the whole Dingle clan jet off abroad. I'm afraid this is where Emm (and at the moment Corrie too) consistently shoot themselves in the foot (feet?). These awful contrived setpieces detract from the main storylines, are in most cases totally implausible, and are invariably very unfunny. ... wake me up when it's all over.

Yes I agree. But the actors and behind scenes people do get a trip abroad so there is a plus point.
I think Emmerdale though is not as guilty of this as other soaps. I remember several Corrie ones set abroad - the Vegas trip of Jack and Vera and Curly and Racquel's honeymoon on a cruise with Rita, Alec and Mavis come to mind.... (Yawn>>>>>>)

Oh God, I agree there, Mandy. Those spin-off videos were diabolical. The only good thing about the QE2 one (apart from the end) was that it was filmed down here briefly and you saw what is thankfully still Dibden Bay on this side, and not a bloody container terminal. My dad found The Dingles Down Under in Oxfam for a couple of quid and got it. Well, it's meant to be for charity but I'm glad I didn't like Emmerdale when it came out. No way would I pay full price for it.

Emmerdale did well with their Scarborough and Newcastle eps. Much better than Corrie's when they go to Blackpool lately. Though I'm in a minority by enjoying the EE France ones.

I thought airlines don't let drunks on the plane. After the amount they supped tonight, Shadrach and Lisa would definitely be booted off. LOL!
Good point about passports, norma. I hadn't thought of that. Didn't Debbie go to France or something a few years ago for a school trip? Don't think Belle's been abroad though. Maybe someone knows. No idea about Cain. I don't think they've said.

Thanks Patsy,I just wondered where he had gone to. I don't think they've made up an excuse. The actor (Jeff Hordley) has been in a play in London and Liverpool. Given that the show ended 19th November we can expect him back on Emmerdale fairly soon subject to the filming/showing delay.

He did that before, didn't he? Cain went to prison. He's back next week I think.

I did think it was a bit too contrived. Nowhere near as good as the Newcastle and Scarborough episodes.
However there were some very good bits in it. Lisa talking to Carl about losing Max for example. Shadders picking up Spanish for ordering beer. Delilah I think is a little gem and a good match for Carl.
Methinks we'll see a bit of Alice being told off by the Dr tonight though for ignoring her cancer...

And Debbie thinking she was picking up some Spanish lad and finding out he probably lived in the next town back home. ;D

I did enjoy that little chat between Lisa and Carl. That was very good. How does Shadrach speak Spanish? Even he doesn't seem to know. LOL! Tonight's was quite funny in places and had some wonderful lines. But why was it an hour?

I agree. There was no need of an hour. It was an OK episode though

I thought they were pretty good episodes. Missed the last bit tonight though (EE tempted me!). Not as good as Scarbourogh (anyone remember Diane's shocking news?).

I'm afraid I found them just as feeble, and unnecessary, as I expected.
Completely pointless, and with no bearing on any current storylines whatsoever. Just another example (as if we really needed any more) of the scriptwriters climbing the walls (and various other places) in search of new material.
It really is time that all the soaps had a big pow-wow together and agreed to cut back on the number of episodes they're churning out.
My opinion of Hyley Tammadon (Delilah) has really nodedived too. I found her quite refreshing when she first appeared, but she's getting more and more into 'panto' mode as time goes on (must be taking lessons from Deena). Last night she was just dire. She'll be wearing little tunics and slapping her thigh before long - mark my words.

Actually, I quite enjoyed them, it was nice to have some scenes away from Emmerdale ( even this country )
It had good and bad bits. I felt sorry for Del though, over Carl.
Anybody think that Debbie may hear from that lad again ?

And so say the majority of us, blackcatz. They really need to cut them back. Return to 25 mins each too. There's far too many scenes that look like there's more to come because of the crap editing. It was quite funny though Carl got involved in thieving with the Dingles. LOL! His hair was an odd one. Dry, wet, dry.
Lisa did look very different, Peter. Where did she get the hair straighteners? I'm amazed the Dingles even own a brush!
I thought that was a bit daft when Carl called Del 'Chas'. Didn't seem a natural error. Maybe Debbie will. She seems desperate enough. LOL!
