From the News of the World:
EXCLUSIVE: Soap's Chris dumps wife and ends up in bed with star Lorraine
EMM OFF, DARLING!
By Mattew Acton and Rachel Spencer
EMMERDALE star Chris Chittell has left his wife—and is being comforted by his glamorous co-star Lorraine Chase.
The 56-year-old actor, who plays baddie Eric Pollard in the TV soap, has clearly made himself at home in Lorraine's four-bedroom house.
Last Thursday he let himself in—and was tending her flowerbeds when she arrived back at 4pm.
Jogging
The pals chatted affectionately in the garden before they went inside. And Chris did not emerge until around 10.45pm to return to his own end-of-terrace home two miles away.
Ex-porn star Chris denied any affair when approached by the News of the World. But he has become increasingly close to former Seventies model Lorraine, who is a huge hit in Emmerdale as psychotic Steph Stokes. The pair are keep-fit enthusiasts, often seen jogging and cycling together along the Leeds-Liverpool canal which runs beside Lorraine's home.
Chris's wife Caroline confirmed at the family home in Norwell, Notts, that he walked out on her five weeks ago after 26 years of marriage.
She said: "He told me he wants to walk more walks, run more races, climb more mountains. Boys' stuff."
Asked if Lorraine Chase was to blame for the break-up, she said: "You'll have to ask my husband."
At first Chris claimed his marriage wasn't on the rocks—even though he has lived apart from his wife at his Leeds home for weeks.
Then he said: "My marriage is between me and my wife."
Asked if his friendship with Lorraine was to blame for the break-up, he laughed, then added: "Don't make that mistake."
Essex-born Lorraine, 54, who has never married, became famous for Campari TV ads, where an upper-class smoothie tried to pick her up, asking if she was "truly wafted here from paradise."
"Nah," she replied in a broad Cockney accent, "Luton Airport."
Seduced
In Emmerdale, she has just managed to seduce hunky GP Adam Forsythe by lying that she was abused as a child.
In real life her great love was advertising director John Knight, who died in 1996.
Chris, who has played dodgy dealer Pollard in Emmerdale for 19 years, met wife Caroline, 49, in Durban, South Africa, when he was making the film Zulu Dawn.
They have two children, Ben, 22, and 20-year-old Rebecca.
