Well that new Belle put in some pretty diabolical line delivery tonight. I was glad when she did nothing! Luke Tittensor saved those scenes. Why is it now they've got this new one everyone else's acting when with her goes downhill? Jane Cox's acting the other night telling her to go to bed was appalling when normally she's good. Seems this new Belle is the Emmerdale equivalent of Kate Ford. I thought she was quite good when she started but this past week showed her up to be quite bad and I got to the stage tonight wishing Belle would drown so we'd be rid of her!
So skipping her, the ep wasn't too bad. The rain machine was working overtime tonight even though the sun was brightly shining at one point. Sandy was very funny in the vicarage scenes before the church. And that was a good scene with them when Ashley was once again going on about his mother's death. She wouldn't have been sharing all those Christmases even if Sandy hadn't helped her along so he should get real. The scene with Viv and Pearl in the Woolpack kitchen was a but crap.

Not seen tonight's, so can't comment. I couldn't face it and her constant squeeking no matter the dialogue or the scene and the same face pulls.
I thought she did a good performance on Friday though for her age. However her acting is pretty poor. Once the cuteness has gone, others will say the same. She is riding high on her cuteness and she quite clearly is enthusiasic. Come 12 years old though. With any luck though another head change will have happened by then.
Child acting or not there's no excuse as the other one quit they had a chance to recast a trained actress. This one might be trained, she clearly is precoucious and cute but that doesn't make her a natural.
The thing that annoys me most about this new Belle is she does regularly muff her lines, most notably in Spain she forgot her lines in one episode. However the biggest thing for me all the other Dingles seem to have forgotten how to act when they have to do a scene with her. They act to her and not to the audience and it just isn't natural. You sometimes even see them nudging her and prompting her when she has to do something or say something. Its never been so obvious with any other child actor. Her timing is sometimes way out. She is shaping up to be one of the worst child actors ever.

She's like Chesney in Corrie only at least Sam Aston can act. I know people say Victoria is bad but the new Belle eclipses her in the crapness stakes.

I don't want to compare Belle and Victoria at the moment as they are different ages. However when this Belle gets to 12 (assuming she lasts that long) I think it will be very interesting to see. 5 years of the same line delivery and face pulls, lack of time and the cuteness gone, umm. I suppose Eden could learn to act by then, however you either have or you don't. At least Victoria can act without opening her mouth and her timing is good. Victoria's problem is the line delivery sometimes.

Yes. Victoria though has been very good with her one-liners to Sandy. Judging by the way soaps go through child actors, Belle could be on her 5th head by the time she's 12.

I must admit I do have a soft spot for Victoria, but may be that's because Hannah Midgeley is so charming in real life.
I'm sure tonight's episode was good. Emmerdale for me is the best UK soap, always has been, still is and always probably will be for me.

Well said Lane my sentiments entitrely, I think Hannah has put in some good performances of late especially with Sandy who is a wonderful addition to the show, Freddie Jones is a super actor & Emmerdale are lucky to have him.

I agree with you about Freddie Jones, chrissie44. I remember him from The Ghosts of Motley Hall when I was a kid and thought he was good then. He's fitted into Emmerdale very well. But then they do write wonderfully for the characters, especially the older ones.

I didn't mind Belle too much, but I don't know why they bothered recasting her. Surely they can't be that short of storylines for Zak and Lisa? They could have at least waited until she was about ten and gotten in an actress who had been trained.
I agree that Victoria isn't great, but she is good at comedy. If she got a bit of training on line delivery then she could be very, very good.

I'm beginning to wonder if this new one is known to someone at YTV to have got the part. There was a letter in next week's TV Quick praising her to the hilt yet at that time had done bog all. Relative?
There are worse actors than Victoria who are older in all soaps. I do love Victoria's one-liners. Normal delivery might be a bit naff but she does excel in those.

Maybe she is a relative of one of the producers/writers.
