From Digital Spy
Nicola Wheeler, who plays fiery temptress Nicola Blackstock in Emmerdale, is to leave the ITV soap.
Nicola's four-year stint in the Yorkshire-based serial drama has seen her screen counterpart involved in a string of meaty storylines, the most famous being when she was jilted at the altar by fiancé Carlos because of his affair with her half-sister Bernice (Samantha Giles). She has since seduced a number of the village Romeos including Syd (Nathan Gladwell) and Robert (Karl Davies) before setting down with her current fiancé Simon Meredith (Dale Meeks).
In recent weeks, Nicola has fallen for Ivan (Daniel Brocklebank) and been humiliated to discover that he is bi-sexual and dating her half-brother Paul (Mathew Bose).
Nicola’s dramatic exit will be screened in March when she leaves Emmerdale behind in a storm of controversy after making a move on binman Ivan with devastating results.
Of her exit, Nicola said: “I’ve had an amazing five years on the show but feel the time is right to try something new. I will miss everyone at Emmerdale desperately but I’m really excited about what the future holds.”
Series Producer Kath Beedles added: “Nicola has been an asset to the show and will be greatly missed. We wish her the best of luck in her future career.”
I'll quite miss her, she was quite a good character.
sorry Sooty I've removed the picture from this post as it was "hotlinked" direct to Digital Spy's servers and we could get into trouble for that.

I have just seen this in the Sun newspaper.
I think she is a pain in the a**e, personally, and really nasty. I honestly don't know why Laurel and Emily put up with her, some best friend she is.
A spoilt bitch.

I'm not sure I would miss her because whenever she was on I wanted to slap her for being a pain in the butt... She was ok when she first got together with Simon but then she showed her true colours when his business went down the toilet....
I do think that Nicola Blackstock played her well and I hope she does well in the future but I'm not sad to see her character go!

Here is the official statement - which is virtually what was on DS anyway :
Thursday 12 January 2006
NICOLA BOWS OUT
Emmerdale actress Nicola Wheeler has announced her decision to leave the ITV1 soap after five years playing fiery temptress Nicola Blackstock.
Nicola arrived in the Yorkshire dales to stay with her dad Rodney (Patrick Mower) in January 2001 and was famously jilted at the altar by fiancé Carlos because of his affair with her half-sister Bernice (Samantha Giles).
Nicola Wheeler, 31 says, “I’ve had an amazing five years on the show but feel the time is right to try something new. I will miss everyone at Emmerdale desperately but I’m really excited about what the future holds.”
Kath Beedles, Series Producer says “Nicola has been an asset to the show and will be greatly missed. We wish her the best of luck in her future career.”

Amen to that.
She's not even evil with it, which would at least make her more entertaining - she's just thoroughly unpleasant.
...or Simon, or her father, or her brother...come to think of it the whole of Yorkshire probably!

I agree with the first half of this staement immensely, even next week she thinks the answer is to run to Daddy for money. And agree with the other statement on this board about apart from Laurel and Emily, her so called best friends how as ANYONE put up with her?

Of the two, I agree with you sc, and it's not just because he's a really unpleasant piece of work as a character. I also find the actor awful to watch. His accent is all over the place (and what accent is it meant to be, for crying out loud?), and he pulls the most extraordinary faces. I'm sure he wasn't as bad a few years back. Was so hoping that when Scott went to prison, that would be the last we'd hear/see of him. Some chance.

I used to like Nicola but in the last year I've gotten sick of her. She was never really a character that you grew to like or to love to hate. She suffered a lot from personality issues as well I think.

I like Nicola and think it's a shame. But with too many eps characters go round in circles. I missed a few eps last week and when I caught Thursday's nothing much had happened.

I thought the same thing til I saw the date, but read further down just in case. I even said 'oh no' out loud LOL Nicola is a great character, I really enjoy her scenes. I hope she won`t end up having an affair with Steve. Although it would be payback for when Bernice stole Carlos from her on her wedding day.
