I just wanted to canvas a bit of varying opinion. I know that most of the people on the Emmerdale Forum think that the new Belle is the best thing going. But for some reason, I am unable to take that much of a shine to her, for some reason, I feel a bit, unbothered by her. I neither like nor dislike the girl. Its just I could be wrong, she seems so forced like she is there in a scene and she is really really trying to be brilliant. I suppose I am thinking she is a bit of an overactor really. Im not sure, my hubby and i think very very similarly as far as Belle is concerned. I just can't seem to fall in line and think ofher so highly.

Crap. I missed about 4 weeks worth and she hasn't improved in that time.

Well its to the point, really I don't think many child actors are really actors, personally I always feel they are just kids being themselves and Belle seems to be being herself too much. I just think Eden is being Eden, not Belle.

Change the actor......change the characters personality. Remember how Robert Sugden changed when he came in played by another actor. !

Can't really blame the previous Belle for not saying anything. That's down to the writers. But having mute children with no friends around isn't natural.

At least Emily Mather never messed her lines up and her timing was always spot on. Eden Taylor-Draper has on more than one occasion messed up her lines and regularly you can see the other actors making faces at her or nudging her or doing some action that is designed to prompt her to say her lines or complete some action. Most Dingle scenes with her in don't come across as natural. Now I haven't watched Emmerdale properly since February so Eden may well of improved, however what little bits I have seen, she still shrieks all her lines and the other actors all seem to have to act around her and seem conscience of her at all times as opposed to be entertaining us the audience. I find the new Belle one of the most annoying child performers ever and I'm sure once the cuteness subsides so will several others. In fact my husband and I were a lone voice when she joined letstalksoap.proboards34.com/index.cgi?board=emmerdale&action=display&thread=1129815954 but we know quite a few people now who say she isn't that good. I think the majority still think she is the best thing since sliced bread though. Lane I modified your post by removing the brackets because the link wasn't working - Admin

I am one of them Lane! I am not keen on her really. I think she is overused which is where the problem lies.

As said before since February I've not watched properly so she could of improved. But it does seem on the odd occasion I do have a spare moment and tune in, Eden is always there with that whiney voice that goes straight through you. In fact she and Katie's return are the two main reasons I don't watch as much as I used to. The fact it is on 6 times a week is the real problem though. Too drawn out and quite honestly it saddens me to say but I just don't have the time. When I got to the point of being 5 weeks behind for the second time in 4 or 5 months I decided it just wasn't worth taping anymore. I didn't catch a single episode from Terence leaving Emmerdale in February to when he came back in April. I made a point of tuning in then to see his death and it was if I had hardly missed 8 weeks at all. I was able to pick up where I left off. In the olden days it was appointment viewing, you missed an episode you missed a lot and that is where ITV's falling ratings lie. Yes multichannels haven't helped but neither have them bombarding us with a countless number of episodes a week. It makes it less important when you miss an episode.
