i have noticed that since Monday nights episode emmerdale are doing the same as hollyoaks, at the end of the credits they are showing a further 30 seconds or so

They did. They also had that bit before the opening titles.

they are back to normal this week? was it a tester to see if the viewers like it liked it

I'd say that was what it probably was. Then they go onto the internet message boards and see what the fans think. If we like it they stick with it - if we don't then it goes. So I'm guessing that it is gone.
