From the Mirror:
22 December 2006 TV SOAP BUST-UP ON LINDA By Lucy Thornton EMMERDALE star Linda Thorson is at the centre of a mutiny after bosses bought designer clothes for her character while the rest of the cast face cuts.
The former Avengers girl, 59, has been in the soap for less than a month playing super bitch Rosemary Sinclair.
Producers had unveiled plans to cut expenses that could reduce actors' earnings by up to a fifth.
Then, unknown to Linda, designer outfits for Rosemary were bought from posh stores including Harvey Nichols in Leeds.
Now insiders believe it could even spark a strike.
A source said: "Some of the cast think it's a bit much buying stuff from those sort of shops with what's going on.
"Its like having their faces rubbed in it. They are seething and this is the final straw."
Last night a spokesman for Emmerdale said: "Any designer items are discounted or second-hand.
"Rosemary is an affluent character and it is essential her wardrobe reflects that."
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure this is accurate. We know she's been in it longer than a month. Be funny if it was and they did strike over a few clothes.

its hardly Linda Thorsons fault (Eeek! I,m sticking up for Rosemary lol)and it would be a bit daft to go on strike over that wouldn,t it?.

I doubt they would strike. But if they did they might be forced to reduce the number of episodes for a while. lol

Her character would wear more expensive clothes though, wouldn't she.
She would hardley go around wearing a cheap pair of jeans and a croptop!

Be funny if she did. Maybe she finds out she's related to the Dingles! Oh well if it means reducing eps I'm all for a strike. Can they make it last about a year please? Patsy

Linda Thorson mentioned a while back that she and Lorraine Chase went out with the wardrobe lady from emmerdale to get their characrers clothes. Lorraine went on record to say her designer clothes were from charity shops.

I remember Lorraine saying that. You can get some good stuff in there that looks posh.

They're all talk these people be it cast or crew. Look at when the Corrie writers grumbled about all the extra eps to prop up I'm a Has Been etc. Did they quit? No. The cast have grumbled about the schedule being too much but do they get Equity on their side? No.

i agree there are loads of clothes that look rosemarys style and be reasonably priced, they might be pandering to her because she is a very famous actress i dunno

You can easily get something in Asda or something for a few quid that looks more expensive. It's funny nothing more has been said about this. I'd forgotten all about it until you resurrected the thread. Thanks for giving us something new to talk about again. Patsy
