Have you noticed that all but one of the characters is pure white?
Why is there no black characters in a village full of all sorts of characters from different walks of life?
Why has there never been other ethenticities represented, not just in Emmerdale but in soaps, like South/East Asians and Jews?
Hari Prasad, a half Indian, does not represent the wide group of ethnics who live and work in Yorkshire

There have been but they weren't that regular. One which springs to mind was Denzel the copper. Can't think of any others off hand. But even in Yorkshire there may be none living in villages but more the major towns and cities. I live between two villages and there have hardly been any ethnic minorites since my childhood but there are loads in Southampton and suburbs.

Seems strange though, the village gets enough Austrlians, Cockneys, posh folk etc, but they neglect colour.

It's all unrealistic anyway. Posh folk you could understand. But Aussies in the middle of nowhere?

Well that isn't my point. Anyone can end up anywhere, but what bothers me is people of colour, never really getting a proper look in

What about the Daggerts?
I tend to agree with Patsy tho' - I live in a large village/small town, and I think there is only one black family living here, and no Asians at all. Likewise local large town has very few people of any ethnic origin. I think they tend to migrate (naturally) to regions of the country where there are already others of similar ethnic origins.
As for Louise - didn't she originally arrive, tagging along as Rodney's girlfriend, or have I got that totally wrong?

I think your right they do tend to go to the larger parts of the country . no your not wrong Louise origainally arrived as Rodneys girlfriend but liked Emmerdale so much she stayed after they split up.

I remember Denzil the copper, a shame he left as I liked him. And I agree 100% about the lack of more ethnic characters considering there are so many Australians. Not that I dislike Australians - just Lousie. I live out in the country - way out in fact. We`re 1.5 miles from the main road and even that`s a small country road. I think that`s why I love Emmerdale so much. I`d hate to move back into town where the houses are much closer together. We have a Mexican bloke living next door to us, and that`s the extent of our ethinic neighbours. I have access to episodes of Emmerdale from 2003 as well as the newer ones and I still see Danny Daggert in the show. He`s dating Ollie (now in Corrie) at the moment.

Danny was around a long time after Latisha and Cynthia left. They had Toni for a year as well.

The husband had been in the army with my dad back in the 60s. None since. Our newsagent is run by Asians, the chemist an asian and the chippy Chinese couple. We're 15 mins walk away from the shops and there are very few non-whites in between. blackcatz is right. It's like these Polish communities. They go where they can feel at home and somewhere like Emmerdale isn't it. Patsy

Wasn`t it Richie?? Can`t think of his surname. He was in Corrie a year or so ago having a one night stand with Tracy Barlow.
