Oops Emmerdale won 2 awards didn`t they? I`m glad 'Belle' won. Although 'Sophie Webster' should have won too.
What direction would you like to see Emmerdale going in BC?

I'd like to see more darker storylines covered. More character driven realism.
This is a spoiler, so forgive me, but Perdy is diagnosed with clinical depression soon, and that is something I have suffered from as I am sure many others on here have too. That's a rare thing in soap for them to approach.
I'd like Jasmine Thomas to risk her life in order to further her journalism career, perhaps a rape storyline. It did wonders for Georgia Taylor.

Excellent spoiler, thanks Yasmin. Perdy will do a brilliant job. No doubt other soaps will be doing this storyline later this year too. Of course Rosemary and Gray will dismiss Perdys clinical depression as all in her head whick I know will anger a lot of people. Corrie did something similar with post partum depression and Claire did a great job.

I agree - more genuine drama, more realism, less 'humour' (or what passes for 'humour' in Emm : . ...and it goes without saying really - less episodes.

There is no humour in Emmerdale. Apart from Val & Diane. The humour is so slapstick and embarassing to watch.

That's what I was getting at - hence the inverted commas.
Unfortunately this perceived 'humour' is in danger of taking over the whole show, as the people who are involved most of the time make up the majority of the cast - most of the Dingles most of the time, Viv, Bob, Marlon, Paddy, Eric and quite a few of the others at various times.
Why so much of it? It's invariably quite definitely not funny, and as you say, just embarrassing to watch.
Also agree about Diane and Val - their's is the only natural (and funny) comedy we get in Emm.

I am seriously pissed off at the supposed gay love triangle coming up in the show. So pissed off that I may switch off.

Lack of ideas. It's the same in Corrie splitting people up then getting them back together again. It gets to the point you stop caring.

September has to be the worst month in Emmerdales history for episodes. People are turning it off in droves. Lets hope October is a better month for them. And by going by th espoilers, it does look a good month. There are still way too many people (and episodes). They could get rid of Jo, Debbie, Marlon, Donna, Paul, Eli, Johnny, Louise, Viv, Bob and Pearl and still have a sizeable cast.

Episodes first and foremost.
Dear Michael Grade,
Stop being the same money grabbing twat as your predecessor! You know what the IBA said about your uncle's pet project Crossroads back in the 60s and 70s. It's all come true with Corrie and Emmerdale at saturation point. Enough is enough! It will boost viewers, increase interest in characters and storylines which get properly developed using a smaller cast and isn't in your face so much nothing moves on because it goes around in circles. You can switch off for 6 months and when you look again it's still the same! Also axing 2 eps of Corrie and 3 of Emmerdale will save ITV over £100 million. You want to save money - there's your starting point!
Regards,
Patsy

from what I have read and seen Emmerdale is getting farcical...another explosion/fire !!..good lord
just the write up sounds ridiculous.....'Victoria discovers her father may be responsible for her mothers death...so what does she do..go into a teenage strop, stop speaking to her dad..stamp around the house turn to teenage boozing..?/..no..she 'finds' a can of petrol and proceeds to douse the house in the stuff....FOR CRYING OUT LOUD
a better way to celebrate the 35th anniversary IMHO would have been to coincide it with an anniversary for jack so that a few of the past characters could come for a visit..Matt,Dolly,Rev Hinton and possible even Annie...that would have got forner viewers in to watch and thus they may have stayed watching
I used to love Emmerdale pre Plane Crash..well till about 1996 really..since then its turned into a farce..it is going down the bad Girls/Footballers wives type of 'drama' which is the lowest common denominator

Donald Hinton is dead. Well the actor playing him. But I know what you mean. I'm certainly not going to watch this ep. Nothing worth watching until the next day anyway. It'll be an hour of building up to find out who dies. Yawn! Michael Grade needs a long, hard look at the state of ITV. Everything losing viewers. They keep blaming satellite but that's crap. Radio figures have increased. They ought to be asking themselves WHY ratings are falling really and the answers are simple - soaps on too many times a week and all those damn spoilers! No reason to watch really. Can read the mags and see what's coming. Can skip weeks and nothing's moved on. And what's the point of eps like these anyway? It'll get millions more but they won't stick with it.

I absolutley hate all those 'coming up next' boxes while your watching the programme and endless commercial breaks..they keep slicing more and more time off the programmes thinking people won't notice
if the powers that be listened to the viewers more maybe they would realize why they are losing viewers in their droves

What better celebration for 35 years than to have Victoria douse Jo, Pearl, Debbie, Carrie, Marlon, Eli, etc in petrol and set fire to `em Whooooosh!! And then for Bonfire Night November 5th, burn David, Ross Kirk, Viv, Bob, Paul, Ashleys mother in law, Nicola and others who may pi$$ me off by then ;D ;D

Will someone please get rid of Viv - I don't care how - just get rid of the ghastly irritating woman - she gets worse and worse by the minute.

I didn't think it was possible for her to get worse. They've ruined so many characters.

I wish Viv and Bob would just leave Emmerdale for good. The pair of them are just an embarassment to watch. I don`t know anyone who is as spiteful, gossippy and bossy as Viv in my part of the world thank goodness. I must admit I have never liked Viv from the first moment I saw her on screen. I can `t bring myself to be sympathetic towards her at all. As for that Paddy/Viv affair - it was ludecrous from the start.

I wasn't watching when the Windsors arrived but I went from liking Viv and Bob to getting really irritated with them last year.

Andy is getting to be such a pain in the arse lately. I don`t care much for Jo, but lately I am feeling quite sorry for her the way Andy is treating her. I`m also feeling sorry for Diane too the way Jack is treating her. He made her feel like a leper the other day when she drove Jo, Victoria and Sarah back to the house. Jack didn`t even thank her. He`s lucky that she still cares, but she won`t for much longer the way he is carrying on.
Another one who is also getting on my nerves lately is Perdy...moan moan flaming moan

Well Kath Beedles should be applauded for succeeding where Steve Frost failed - making so many characters unlikeable. Well done that woman.

I`m in the very small majority, but the scenes with Duke in them I enjoy very much. Still way too many episodes and this poxy panto storyline allowing a kid write a panto is not only ludicrous bus is adding more nails to Emmerdales coffin by the episode. I don`t care how gifted Belle is supposed to be, bossing the adults around is not the done thing. She`s gone way down in the cutesy factor for me and I hate every scene she`s in lately. The only saving grace in Mondays episode was .....actually I don`t think there were any now I think about it

To be honest I have stopped watching the show as it is getting to far fetched and they are ruining good families and then when the decide to bring in another character it is a case 'Here comes another Dingle' And did Nicola REALLY think that she would live happily ever after after killing Donald and inheriting his millions?? Has she never heard of CSI? Does she realise there would really be no questions asked?? It's getting totally pathetic.
