From Digital SpyActors' union Equity has claimed that Emmerdale's stars are furious about their work schedules. The union spoke out about the soap's "exhausted" performers being asked to work six days per week. "Management are worried the actors are exhausted and unhappy," spokesperson Nigel Jones told the Sunday Mirror. A spokesman for Yorkshire TV, which produces the soap, insisted: "It is highly unusual for actors to be required for filming on a Saturday." Emmerdale's ratings have been boosted by recent high-profile plots, including Jo Stiles (Roxanne Pallett) marrying Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) in prison, and the cot death storyline involving Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) and her baby.

Not as furious as the fans of Emmerdale who are leaving the soap in droves because of the rubbish storylines. Although I can`t think of anyone right now who are leaving because of their heavy workload yet. Clive Hornby perhaps....maybe he was ill because of the heavy filming schedules.

The poor little lambs..my heart bleeds I wonder if they would like to work in a factory or be a street sweeper for the minimum wage or would they rather keep their £250,000 salary...Mmmm I wonder?? Even I have worked 6 days a week for most of the years I was in catering many times from 7am right through till 2 or 3 in the morning and on occasion all thru the night..because I needed extra money for perhaps a bit of furniture or a holiday..not a problem they have I would imagine

I am sick of these soap actors moaning. They have two options - quit or strike. Equity would be behind them, and the crew. ITV are worse then the BBC. They treat them all like crap for profit. If they were that pissed off they would have stopped this happening. No show without those working on it. Therefore put their principles where their mouth is and do something instead of whinging.

Lane knows more about this than me but my understanding is since last year they've all worked 40 hours a week and have three units for filming. They worked longer before so should belt up.
