Emmerdale’s Nicola Wheeler has been receiving some unusual fan mail of late. The actress, who plays superbitch Nicola De Souza, has been inundated with letters telling her how to commit murder.
Nicola’s TV alter ego has been trying to kill wheelchair-bound husband Donald for weeks now, in a bid to get her French-manicured fingers on his fortune. Unfortunately for her, Don is hardier than he looks. He’s already survived a coma, despite Nicola’s frantic attempts to sabotage his feeding tube – and only last week, her attempt to electrocute him with a model train set was derailed.
But now it seems help is at hand from some of the soap’s more grisly-minded fans. Suggestions include clubbing her victim over the head, poisoning his food, a gunshot to the head or driving him off a cliff. “You wouldn’t believe the amount of fan mail advising me on the best way to murder Donald,” the 33-year-old actress told the Daily Star. “Our fans really know how to commit the perfect murder, which is all a bit worrying.”
