He gets fired up and races towards it, yelling out asking who they are and what do they want?! The tires screech and the car speeds away! The pair race to Leah’s, telling her and Dan what happened – Dan calls the cops as Leah tries to calm them down. Amanda explains the events – it was the same car Belle had seen earlier that day with Drew. Jack organizes car squads to head out etc – they’ll find him. Meanwhile, Drew’s lifeless looking body lays slumped amongst some scrub – is he dead?! Slowly he begins to stir – unsure of where he is, then suddenly he remembers, the memories flooding back & panicking him. He begins to move through the bush, praying his captors don’t find him… Dan and the others continue to panic about Drew – Dan can’t take it any longer and heads out to look for him as Drew continues to trudge through the bush, breathless but full of adrenaline. He hears his name – it’s Jack calling out, but Drew is too scared to stop and fights him off. Jack finally settles him – everything’s okay. Drew eventually calms – his horror over. Dan, Leah, Belle and Amanda race to the Station to see Drew – he insists he’s fine, looking to Amanda who avoids eye contact. All Drew can remember was struggling in the car, then waking up in the bush. Jack explains that they’re looking for the car, but thinks that the most likely explanation is that is somehow tied to one of Peter’s old cases – someone wanting revenge against him. He tells Drew to be extra vigilant and he’ll organise for police to watch the house.
Amanda invites Drew to her place as Dan and Leah have to get back to work and they don’t want him home alone. Drew is surprised at the offer seeing as Amanda insisted they stay out of each others way, but agrees to go with her and Belle. At the house, Belle waits on Drew hand and foot and when left alone, he expresses to Amanda that she was all he thought about when he was in trouble today. Amanda admits that she feels for him to, but hates herself for it, yet can’t deny it anymore. Drew asks what they’re going to do about it? Beth watches Matilda and Dean as they hang out enjoying each others company, but the mood quickly changes when Lucas arrives home. Dean quietly suggests he should go, but Mattie insists that Lucas is the one with the problem, thinking Dean is gay. Beth asks Lucas why he’s being so weird around Mattie and Dean, it’s more than jealousy. Lucas keeps his thoughts to himself and moves off… Mattie asks Beth if she and Dean can have dinner together at the house while she and Tony are out – Beth agrees as Dean returns and Lucas walks back in, making it very clear he isn’t a fan of Dean. After Matilda and Dean leave, Beth tells Lucas to pull his head in and to stop being so jealous. He insists he isn’t, he’s worried about Mattie getting hurt, revealing to Beth that Dean is gay! He explains the reasons why he thinks this is the case. Beth isn’t sure what to think as Matilda returns and realizes Lucas has told her Mum. She rips into him for causing trouble and insists that the ‘truth’ is that Lucas is being vindictive and horrible, then storms out. At the Diner, Dean is collecting a cake to take to Matilda’s for dessert, when Beth comes in. She gently raises the issue about the argument between Lucas and Mattie and Dean is quick to assure Beth he cares about Matilda very much and that he isn’t gay. Beth accepts this and moves off, leaving a rattled Dean – people are getting closer to discovering his secret…
He returns to the house for dinner, which Mattie has romantically set up, but the mood is far from it as Dean vents to her about the trouble Lucas is causing by spreading these lies. He’s really worked up as Mattie does her best to calm him. He keeps pleading that he isn’t gay, getting increasingly agitated, until he starts kissing her, in a bid to prove his heterosexuality…before becoming physical. Matilda tries to fight him off, Dean realises what he was doing stops, then runs off Mattie chases after him eventually they both stop and as they look at each other Dean knows that he has something that he has to admit.

Dean has stomped down to the beach, hating himself for what he’s done. Matilda approaches him. He apologises for what he did – he didn’t mean to hurt her. Matilda finally speaks, asking why his father really kicked him out. She asks if Gareth is really some guy who has a crush on him, or is it more than that? Tears well in Dean’s eyes as he admits that Lucas is right – Dean’s gay. She takes in the news calmly, despite the pain she feels inside… Dean opens up telling Matilda about how he feels about Gareth and his discovery that he’s gay. His dad caught them and things got pretty bad, which is why he started to hit the booze and drugs and getting into trouble with the cops. They ended up sending him to the retreat when he was caught shoplifting, to sort himself out. He tells Matilda that she’s the kind of girl he would want to be with if he wasn’t gay – he thought he could convince himself otherwise, but he can’t and he wouldn’t blame her if she hated him. He hates himself too. He starts to get really worked up about how awful he has been before getting to his feet and rushing off.
Beth gets home to see the dinner still on the table, untouched and wonders where Mattie and Dean are? Lucas doesn’t know. They are interrupted by Matilda arriving, looking zombie like as she slumps on the couch. Beth asks where Dean is, when Mattie breaks down in tears. Lucas watches on as Matilda fills Beth in on what happened, about how angry she is at being used. Beth does her best to comfort her daughter, saying Dean had them all fooled, when Lucas reminds them that he tried to warn her. Mattie takes this as an ‘I told you so’ and stomps off to her room, upset, leaving Lucas feeling awful. Matilda heads to the beach and sees Dean – he apologises again for everything and she lets him know she doesn’t hate him and encourages him to talk to Gareth – he can’t ignore his heart. Mattie watches on as Dean and Gareth talk, when Cassie approaches. Matilda explains what’s happened – Cassie can’t believe how well she’s handling it. Later that day, Lucas finds Matilda and apologises for his behaviour earlier, he was just worried about her. Matilda understands, their friendship back on track.
Meanwhile, a fuming Martha is waiting for Jack to get home. He finally strolls in, unaware how upset Martha is. He finished work a couple of hours ago and had some beers with his work mates – Martha knows – she saw them there and isn’t impressed that he didn’t call to let her know. Jack is confused – why is she angry? Martha can’t believe he doesn’t get it and explains that the reason she’s angry is that he’s still behaving as though he’s single. This is meant to be a marriage and Martha feels like Jack isn’t a part of it. Martha vents to Alf, who points out that blokes aren’t too perceptive – either way Martha hopes he gets his act together soon – she isn’t going to hang around waiting… Jack talks to Lucas about it all – it’s clear he still doesn’t get why Martha is angry – it’s not about him having a social life, it’s the fact he didn’t think to call to let her know where he was at. Martha busies herself preparing the lunch for Tasha and Robbie. Jack tries to talk to her – but she’s not up for it now – they have guests coming.
The tensions are broken by the arrival of Tasha, Robbie and Baby Ella. Jack & Martha try to hide their tension throughout the meal as Robbie & Tasha announce they have a special request – they’d like Martha & Jack to be Ella’s godparents! They are thrilled, but their reaction is a little forced, given their troubles. They insist they would love to, but Tasha has clocked that something isn’t right here… She gives Martha a hand with the dishes and asks what’s going on? Martha insists that all is good – seeing Martha doesn’t want to go there, Tasha leaves it, thanks her for the lovely lunch and heads off with Robbie & Ella. Martha immediately turns on Jack for how tense things were during lunch – Jack calls her an ice queen & all deteriorates quickly into a huge argument. Jack tells Martha if he’s such a bad husband, then she can have the house to herself! He storms out on the fuming Martha. Later, when he returns, Martha is packing a bag – she needs space. He tries to stop her, but she keeps walking. Is this the end of Jack & Martha’s marriage?
Tasha & Charity have organized Ella’s christening and talk excitedly about the future as the glum Robbie watches on, knowing full well he might not be a part of it.

Kim & Rachel can’t believe it when Jack tells them Martha has gone. Having been there themselves recently, the pair insists Jack talk to her; don’t let the sun set on it. But it’s a pride thing for Jack – he can’t believe she’d walk out like that – she mustn’t think much of their marriage, why should he go crawling to her? Rachel puts it simply – because you love her and you want her back. Jack takes this in. Martha finishes telling Alf and Sally what’s been happening, that Jack isn’t ‘in’ the marriage. They suggest a good night’s sleep and a rational talk tomorrow – as Martha is about to head to bed, Jack knocks at the door – she doesn’t want to see him. Alf stands firm on her behalf and suggests he return in the morning. Jack unhappily moves off, both he and Martha hating the situation. Next morning, Jack decides some serious groveling is in order – he’s ordered a huge bunch of flowers to be delivered. Rachel wonders if that’s enough. He reckons it will win her over – it’s clear that Jack still has no idea how serious this situation is…
Martha receives the flowers, but they have no impact. She’s lost in her thoughts when Jack arrives. Martha can’t believe that he thinks flowers are the answer – Jack tells her to come home so they can talk this through and get on with their lives – but Martha isn’t sure that will happen. She thinks they rushed into getting married and they’ve had their fair share of ‘signs’ from the reception onwards. Jack takes it in, stunned, he wants to make this work, he loves her, but Martha tells him it takes more than love to make it work. She wants a trial separation. Jack can’t believe it! He’ll do anything to save this marriage – but Martha makes it clear that she doesn’t want Jack making changes that sacrifice his happiness to save their marriage. She thinks the union is fundamentally flawed because they’re just not ready for what a marriage means. They both say they love each other, before Jack turns and sadly heads out, leaving a drained Martha to watch him go… News of the separation travels fast as Tony comforts his devastated son and Tasha rushes to support Martha, who is trying to hold it together. She breaks down in her friends arms over the end of her marriage.
Irene explains that Robbie is making plans in case he has to go to gaol, to Colleen and Tony. Irene wishes there was something she could do to cheer them up. Meanwhile, a highly apprehensive Kim gets a house call from Dr Young who grimly confirms that the fears he voiced this morning were unfortunately warranted – Kim’s battle with Mumps has left him infertile. Kim is devastated as the doctor explains there is nothing they can do. Kim’s world comes crashing down…
