I thought it was easily the ebst episode of the three this year so far. It had everything it a good episode should have (a good plot, good villain, great writing and great acting). I loved Catherine Tate and her relationship with the Doctor is fun, but also a lot more serious than Rose or Martha. Her character questions the Doctor on moral issues which is a bit different.
Good to see that you liked it at least a little Nick. What was best? I liked the snow myself as it was something different for a change. Also the Ood are interesting creatures, so it was good to see them back again.
Also interesting that Martha is back next week. I didn't expect her to be back quite so soon.

It was good to get to an alien planet...I suppose that would explain the snow coming from a completely blue sky...actually now that you mention it,I quite like the relationship between Donna and the Doc

I thought it was possibly the worst of the DT episodes so far. The sets and the effects were rubbish, the plotline wafer thin, and DT is getting more and more OTT as each episode passes.
I am also sick to death of seeing this type of alien.
Is it really feasible that so many races of aliens would have humanoid bodies with silly heads on?
I actually thought Catherine Tate was one of the good things about the episode.

I loved the chase scene with the Doctor running from the mechanical claw.
While I liked the Ood, I do see your POV blackcatz about all aliens being more of less the same so far - Slitheen, Ood, Daleks, Cybermen and now the Sonatarans next week are similiar in many ways. I have to disagree with you about the plot and the sets though. I thought they were both great.

The Sontarans are original series though and created by the late, great Robert Holmes who also came up with the Autons. June Brown was in the first story.

Well seeing as I thought the Oods' last two episodes were the worst episodes so far, and seeing as season 4 hadn't been that great, I didn't bother. Seems over a million of us didn't bother with this episode dropping to 6.9 million (where I think even episode 2 made it to over 8 million). They can't totally blame the time-slot this time either, because it did very well in the first week of its return in the same time slot. Yes okay it was the start of a season, but if people really cared enough about it they would of watched it whenever it was on. Also we are still early in the season too.
Interesting to see what the figures will be for episode 4. Although I do intend to watch that.
As to Catherine Tate, she has been better than her first dreadful outing, but with each passing seen she slips back into her old annoying self.

The weather's not been great either so they can't blame that.

It was okay, not great but better than the roman episode.
Using warehouses with a bit of CG planet in the far far distance though is vastly dissapointing for an alien planet. For the first 20 minutes i did honestly think it a bit run-of-the-mill, but but couldn't help but be warmed up by the Ood's story however. Donna/Tate is getting better but you still get the occasional slip into her "boverred" character from her comedy show, if only she would just drop that!
She was very good when they had to pull the lever in the roman episode, very good when she heard the Ood's song, but if she would just drop her comedy slips she'd get a much better appreciation, from me anyway!
