Sorry for getting in before you for once Nick...
So, what did we think of the Doctor's Daughter? I liked it I have to say, even if the end was very similar to Captain Jack's at the end of series one. Surely something better could have been done. Although I guess they are setting up the new companion for the episodes before series 5. Unless they are planning ANOTHER spin-off.
The episode itself was fairly impressive. I liked the way the Doc rejected her at first, then accepted her before getting his heart broken. And I love the way he's confiding in Donna way, way more than Rose or Martha. He and Donna are friends and its nice that there's no romance.
The bit with the "womanly charms" was funny as well. Catherine Tate may be a bit annoying in places, but overall she has brought something new and fresh to this series.
As for Jenny she's feisty and interesting, even if the whole acrobatics through the lasers was rather unwarrented. I don't think I'd mind her being the companion in the future, especially if it means no romance in the TARDIS. I'd like to see another male companion introduced though as well.

We both got the impression of a spin off ..possibly in the CBBC mould like the Sarah Jane chronicles
All a bit rushed again...but not too bad

Fairly enjoyable episode, but far and away the best thing about it was Georgia Moffett as Jenny.
...and I agree that there is potential for her to have her own spin-off series.

I had deliberately missed the Ood. Then for various reasons not caught the first of the two parters, which ruined the 2nd of the two parters for me.
So, with great excitement (that had been building for weeks), I sat down to 'The Doctor's Daughter' and I've always liked Georgina. Perhaps because I had such great expectations for this episode I was disappointed. I cannot lie, I pretty much hated it. Not one of the very worst but it sure was getting there.
For starters it was predictable from the opening credits somewhere along the line Jenny would save the Doctor's life and probably by sacrificing her own. What wasn't predictable is that she would come back to life at the end, I'll give them that, however that somewhat disappointed me. I know they explained away that she wasn't a proper Time Lord/Lady, however even so the fact she re-generated, surely she should of re-generated as someone else? Somebody with a better Doctor Who history than myself, going back to 1963, perhaps can explain this one to me. I just don't get and it seemed a cop out by writers to use her again. So having decided they wanted to keep he around, which clearly they wanted, why kill her off at all?
I was disappointed that she wasn't a conventional daugher or a fraud, that she was just a thing taken from skin from his hand and popped out in seconds with all the knowledge of the world. Thank goodness it was Georgina playing the role as I've admired her for a while, so she made it more tolerable.
As to Catherine Tate, I didn't buy into the fact she suddenly is a genius with numbers. And her connection with the dates, I also found her annoyingish throughout the episode for just being her. Come back Martha all is forgiven. The story was also a bit slow paced.
I am sorry I can't be more enthusiastic. I think the time might be fast approaching where I need to just give up on Doctor Who.

I can't remember about 1963..I know the Doc said Susan was his grandaughter which would mean the Doc had a son or daughter..bit I never remember them ever being mentioned or seen (but then again I haven't seen every story..but I'm sure I would have known about it)...was Susan really his granddaughter or did they just say that to people so it wouldn't look out of place an old man living with a young girl
Maybe Jenny had the power to regenerate, but only as herself and not the full power to regenerate into a different form
I found it a bit of a con really..the trialers announcing her as his daughter and it just turned out to be a clone type thingy

I enjoyed it on the whole.
I thought Jenny was terrific and thought what a great companion she would make. It would be good to see her replace Donna.

Romana turned herself into Princess Astrid so Time Lady's it seems can pick and choose who and what they look like.

Thanks for the answers Nick and Patsy, Romana turned herself into Princess Astrid so Time Lady's it seems can pick and choose who and what they look like. Patsy Does this even go for them remaining the same? I'm going to try and stick with DW to the end of this season as I am interested to see how they bring Rose back and I know there isn't a 5th season until 2010. It is a shame, I really liked Season 3 but I have not liked the last two Christmas specials. And of the 4 out of 6 episodes I've seen of this season so far, I've only found them tolerable at best. Agree a clone type thing Nick, is what really disappointed me. I'd of much rather it turned out she was a fraud or even brought Susan back if she couldn't of been a natural daughter?

Yes. At the beginning of Destiny of the Daleks, Romana (because Mary Tamm left and they hired Lalla Ward who was Princess Astrid) went through many changes, asking the Doctors opinon before settling on looking like Princess Astrid. Time Lords seem to get what they're given.
