DH postponed until autumn for Big Brother

Did anyone else watch E4's First Look last night of Desperate Housewives? It was episode 10, the aftermath of the tornado. At the end of the show the continuity man said DH would be back in the autumn due to Big Brother starting soon.

I checked with a TV guide and sure enough this appears to be the case. This episode will air on Channel 4 on Wednesday and as an E4 Catch Up the following Sunday. Ater that Channel 4 have other things scheduled.

I always said why didn't they show it back in January as originally planned and break when they ran out of episodes due to the strike. But people said that maybe Channel don't want to break the episodes. I never understood that being Channel 4's reason as we in the UK are used to shorter seasons anyway. But no Channel 4 made us wait, yet they are splitting the season anyway and we in the UK will get further behind.

Perhaps one of the reasons they are stopping it is because ratings wise, it is doing better in the ratings almost as good as Season 1, so C4 don't want it interupted by Big Brother and summer months. However if they had shown it in January as originally planned they wouldn't have this problem now.

If C4 had started showing it in Early January like they have done in previous years they would have completed the entire 4th series by now as there are 17 episodes I think. DH usually ends its season on C4 around this time of the year as when its a full 22 episode season it will run from January to the end of May. Why on earth they didnt start showing it around February so they could show the whole season by now I dont know.

A shame we will have to wait but I guess Channel 4 see Big Brother as a priority for the summer months and it will be taking up the 9pm or 10pm slot every night.

It looks like DH is back on Wednesday 3rd September at 10pm on C4.

Yep that seems pretty definate. They will run straight into Season 5, which I guess will begin about 15th October if they show one a week with the final two of Season 4 together. Season 5 begins in the US on Sunday 28th September 2008.
