From Digital SpyCoronation Street stars Jack Ellis and Matthew Crompton have been given new contracts with the soap. The actors joined the ITV1 show as bookies Harry and Dan Mason late last year. They have since become a hit with fans of the programme and will now stick around in Weatherfield for at least another year. A Corrie source told The Mirror: "Viewers have really taken to them as a couple of Jack the Lad smoothies." Crompton, who previously appeared as PC Sam Harker on The Bill, recently thanked the soap's producers for saving his career.

Much more work is needed on these two before I'll start to take to them. 'Jack the lad smoothies' is well wrong! A couple of sarky, narky back street bookies whose 'success' with women so far include ex-hooker Leanne and Harry's possible eye on Liz - the two biggest slags on the street! Hardly takes much to get either of them to drop their drawers.
Now that they're staying I hope their scripts and storylines will be better quality - then we might see some better quality acting out of them, instead of all the surly, snarly one-upmanship and back biting.

Yes I'm having problems taking to them....for me its the inaccuracies of the scripts regarding bookies..the writers are making them out to be like something from Brighton Rock
and not one mention of the Grand National last week

Well that's two of you. I wonder how many others feel the same? They always speak rubbish.

I don't mind them, tho' the characters need filling out in more depth.
I don't dislike them - just waiting for them to prove themselves one way or the other.
