Corrie - the musical?

ITV is considering producing musical versions of Coronation Street and Loose Women.

According to The Sun, the broadcaster wants to emulate the success of the stage adaptation of prison drama series Bad Girls.

Other shows being considered for stage reworkings are Emmerdale and Hell's Kitchen.

Director of global content Dawn Airey said: "ITV have some powerful programme brands which don’t have to exist just on the telly.

"Musicals and plays have done good business for things like films so why not TV shows? Loose Women would be ideal. You can make money out of The Vagina Monologues, so what’s the difference?"

What a scary thought. Will they have songs like, "You're a right proper little snob, Kenneth Barlow" sung by Albert Tatlock and Ena's rendition of "She sat up, broke wind and died"?

Yeah I`m glad. And it wouldn`t surprise me if it had been considered....especially with the way they`re just chucking away good money after bad lately.
That Children In Need thing they did with Oliver a few years ago was brilliant though.
