CORRIE star Kym Ryder has split from ex-EastEnder Jack after years of battling to save their troubled marriage.

The couple tied the knot in 2002 — but had a trial separation just a year later, blaming her work commitments.

Kym — who has David, 12, and Emily, ten, from a previous relationship — never fulfilled her dream of having kids with Jack.

But the former Hear’Say singer’s career has gone from strength to strength while he struggled to find work.

Recently she has often been seen out and about without her husband.

Kym, 31, has won awards for Best Newcomer and Best Actress since she joined Coronation Street as Michelle Connor two years ago.

Jack, 26, quit as EastEnder Jamie Mitchell in 2002. He has since starred in plays and panto.

Jack has denied she is the boss in their marriage, saying: “There has never been a trouser-wearer.”

A statement from Corrie ITV bosses said the couple — who live in Manchester — had split with “great sadness” and no one else was involved.

It said Jack would continue to see Kym’s kids.

In other words Jack was probably tired of being treated as a free babysitter to Kyms kids, and he hated to be out of the limelight.

Well he might as well make himself useful - doesn't sound like he's exactly snowed under with work.

Everyone said at the time it wouldn't last - he was too young, and was known to the public only as Jamie Mitchell from EE and/or Kym Marsh's boyfriend. He was unlikely to have an identity in his own right, which turned out to be right - and now he'll only be known as Kym Marsh's ex, unemployed childminder.
