From Digital SpyCoronation Street star Julia Haworth has revealed that she is pregnant. The actress, who plays Claire Peacock in the ITV1 soap, is expecting her first baby with accountant husband Jon Wormold. She found out the news in November but wanted to keep it quiet until her 12 week scan. She told The Mirror: "We haven't stopped smiling. It's such a special time and I feel so lucky we're going to share it." Haworth added that her character's postnatal depression following the birth of son Freddie had helped "prepare" her for being a mother. The 28-year-old married Wormold in May 2006 after a two-year romance. She is due to give birth in July. I am really pleased for her. Congratulations to Julie and her husband. I wonder if she will leave Corrie. I hope not.

Congratulations to Julia.
I wonder how they will write her out, if they will bother at all. I remember in 2003 Sally didnt need to be written out as she was hardly ever seen during that period anyway. Perhaps it will be the same for Claire.

They did the same with Hayley..Julie Hesmondhalgh recorded some scenes with Roy (before going off for maternity leave) in the cafe that weren't really connected with any plot so that they could be slipped at different times

Congratulations to Julia and her hubby.
I agree that she wouldn't be greatly missed if she went on maternity leave: a few weeks of scenes with head shots only, a few weeks of Ashley telling people she was staying with her mum, then back to being totally innocuous like before. The character of Claire, IMO, should not be used for anymore dramatic stuff like the Casey storyline, but be more of a 'good influence' type charcter, without all the aggro. Then Julia could come back part time and be 'the sensible one' around all the childish males like Jerry and Lloyd, then dissapear for a while. Maybe that's a bit boring, but I think it's more realistic.
