From Digital SpyEx-Coronation Street actor Thomas Craig has slammed his former soap colleagues for complaining about how hard they have to work. Craig, who played mechanic Tommy Harris in the show for nearly three years up until 2005, contradicted some of his former colleagues in saying that they were not overworked. He said: "I don't think it was busy or hectic. You might have a week or two weeks where you're busy, but then you've got two weeks off. "Corrie had 55 regulars in the cast, 55 people aren't busy every day, are they?" The actor, who is currently starring in Blue Murder, rubbished reports from other soap actors that fame has ruined their lives and claimed that their whinging has put him off watching the show. He added: "If you live your life as you normally do and you carry on, you can live your life. "I used to watch Corrie all the time before I was in it. Now that I know everybody, I would never watch it."

LOL! Yeah well actors have never really worked hard. Colin Baker always says he feels guilty when people come up to him saying, "Oh you work really hard" when he's just done 2 hours in the theatre when others have done 8 hours at whatever.

I can`t make up my mind whether Thomas Craig is praising Corrie or running it down.

I get the impression that he likes the show - it's just that he just can't be bothered with the prima donnas who think that kissing Liam Connor or slapping Carla is 'hard work'. I'd pay them to do it!!

I think he has a point - with a cast that size they arent all busy at once. Like he said they might be busy when they have a big storyline but thats only a small amount of the cast at any given time.

Maybe it's a backhanded compliment.

I agree he has a point. Like Emmerdale, they have a sort of rota system.
If they are in a big storyline they are there for it's entirety. Then you don't see them for a while.
Look at Ken and Deirdre, haven't seen them for weeks, then they are in the Rovers like they hace been there all the time.
Although the exeption seems to be David Platt, he is never off the screen.!!

Ever since Richard Hillman the focus has been on one main character at the expense of the others. After Richard was Tracy and now David. Whereas in Emmerdale they've gone for the Neighbours route of starting something then the characters disappear for weeks. So you're left with either having something constantly rammed down your throat or not being able to follow a storyline properly. There's no balance any more.
