From Digital SpyCoronation Street star Helen Flanagan has admitted that the reaction to her character's new "sex kitten" status has been "strange" to deal with. Flanagan's alter-ego Rosie Webster has undergone a major transformation this year and recently seduced her teacher, John Stape, in a shock storyline. Helen has noticed that her experiences with some of the soap's fans have changed since the plot stared airing, but she is pleased that viewers are finding her performances believable. "It's weird being thought of like that. But I guess it means I am doing well, because that side is all Rosie. She is the confident one who is using her sexuality to gain power over men," Flanagan told the Daily Star. "I'm nothing like Rosie in real life so it has been a challenge for me - and it is all very strange. I was in the gym the other day and this guy winked and I was like: 'Oh my God, I can't believe you just did that!'" I think this ( like the Jamie/Frankie/Danny ) storyline makes people feel uncomfortable watching

I agree, sootycat. Maybe people wouldn't feel so uncomfortable if John had been a sleazy old man when he was first introduced- so we could go 'boo hiss', but he arrived as a reaaly nice bloke, sensible, intelligent and pleasant. Then it turns out he can't resist a 16 year old girl - he should not be teaching A - level, the old lech.

I agree that it makes me feel a little uncomfortable too, but I also thinks she's doing a fantastic job in the role - very, very convincing.

Helen Flanagan is a terrific young actress. It's great to see how these people, from starting as young kids, mature to take center stage.
