New game show for Antony

CORRIE star Antony Cotton is celebrating – after landing his own gameshow AND a second series of his chat show.

ITV bosses are developing a quiz show to air next year for the gay actor – who plays camp Street barman Sean Tully.

An insider said: “Antony’s proved a big hit with viewers outside of Corrie, so it makes sense to give him a gameshow.

“He’s got a great rapport with audiences and has always wanted to front a gameshow.

“We’ve not decided what show it will be yet – it could well be an old favourite like Mr and Mrs.

“Gameshow Marathon has shown that viewers still love the old favourites.”

That Antony Cotton Show will also return in its teatime slot – despite being slammed by critics.



It was attacked for its mix of singing and cheesy quizzes but pulled in good ratings and often beat rival Richard and Judy.

But producers acknowledge some elements did not work and will tweak the format.

A second series and a game show??? Does ITV know its October 11th and not April 1st?
Oh well, at least him bust with his cack ...er....chat show and game show he`ll be on Corrie less.

Well it cant have been that bad in the ratings if they have given him a 2nd series. If this means he is on Corrie less im happy. I much prefer Antony to Sean if you see what I mean.

Hi Corrie Girl yes Derek Batey is alive very much so too. he still owns Mr and Mrs so he must think its ok for Anthony Cotten to do it . the only thing Derek Batey is desperate about is saveing Border tv station from being closed down (he started out presenting border news and lookaround and has a soft spot for the place) he is what you call carefull with money so still has plenty .

Graham Norton,Julian Clary and Paul O'Grady have a natural wit and can leave the script and be funny on their own because of cutting their teeth on the stand up comedy circuit...Anthony Cotton hasn't got a natural witty bone in his body..if its not on the auto cue ..he can't do it..and even then he sounds bossy

I agree about Graham and Paul, but GGA have you seen Julian Clarey in Carry On Columbus? He was absolutely appalling. It sounded like he was reading from an autocue....the 10 minutes I saw anyway. It was painful to watch.

yes i admit he was like a fish out of water there..but when he is hosting he is naturally funny...with a more dry sense of humour than the other two
