Emmerdale's Nick Miles has attacked TV awards shows for being biased towards rival ITV soap Coronation Street.
Speaking about the Yorkshire-based soap's lack of recognition at the recent TV Quick/TV Choice awards, Miles suggested there may be an element of favouritism towards Corrie.
The 45-year-old - who has played the character of Jimmy King since 2004 - told The Sun: "After a while, you think that Corrie would even win the gong for best Dingle.
"I was very surprised that Joseph Gilgun, who plays Eli Dingle, didn’t get the Best Newcomer award."
He continued: “Emmerdale’s ‘Who killed Tom King?’ storyline was ground-breaking because of the interactive element we had with viewers. We should have won something but those who run these awards seem to like Corrie."
The actor's 30-year-old co-star Lucy Partgeter, who plays Chas Dingle in the Yorkshire soap, added that she believes the show's popularity means it should get more chances to go head-to-head against EastEnders.
She said: "We don’t seem to get the recognition we deserve but every time we go up against EastEnders we beat them."
She added: "It would be nice to see if Corrie could do as well as us against EastEnders. Maybe we could change slots for a while."
-----------------------------
I like Emmerdale, but Tom King wasnt the best storyline it was long and drawn out, and at the mo, Emmerdale seems a bit drab, hopefully the fire will perk it up

I agree with him but a few years ago. Emmerdale was robbed back then. Now it's cack so deserves nothing.

Also as bad in Corrie (I spotted him when I watched the 40th Anniversary video, when Jack hit Terry)

Had to laugh at his rant about the awards. What they are forgetting is that Corrie and EE are far more popular than Emmerdale so are bound to win the awards. Also I hardly think there is favouritism towards Corrie - there have been a few years where Corrie havent won much and EE have taken the most awards.
Also laughed at the comment that they should swap slots - dream on, as if ITV would moved its most popular show half and hour earlier. And I fail to see the logic in either of the ITV soaps going head to head with EE. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

In a way I do agree with him....with all the effort the actors put in for the 'who killed Tom King' storyline it should have won something. But the truth is...the storyline dragged on way too much and the viewers got bored. What did win? Was it the Corrie 'Tracey killed Charlie' storyline?

It was. And they deserved it far more than the Who killed Tom King crap from Emmerdale IMO.

That dragged on a bit too. Most of the storylines these days go on so long and repeat themselves it just gets so boring so people stop caring. They knew people were fed up with the 'Who killed Tom King?' but kept it going longer.

I knew People who dont watch Emmerdale, but WKTK did their head in too Corrie didnt win these last 2 years (I think) so its hardly favouratism and Emmerdale is always going Head to Head with EE, it only just managed to beat it Corrie and EE actually have a mutual agreement not to go head to head, as it would upset viewers

Its a good decision that they dont go head to head as it wouldnt do either show any favours.
Corrie didnt win in 2006 but did win in 2004 and 2005 I think. However when it comes to the NTA EE usually win, the only time in recent years Corrie won was 2004.

It doesn't do either Emmerdale or EE any favours either. Both suffer because of ITV's arrogance. I long gave up taping one and watching the other. When I watched Emmerdale properly it got to the stage where I'd turn over halfway through to BBC1.

its silly, Emmerdale once did two episodes in one night but seperated so people didnt miss EE, but they are being big headed and want to go head to head

They are. When EE had two together because of Comic Relief or CiN or something it started at 7.30-8.30. It would have served ITV right if the BBC had put it on at 7pm as well.

You're lucky. But supposing you did watch two soaps and ITV was childish like that. You'd be as pissed off as the rest of us. Course the way things have turned out thanks to ITV's greed and stupidity the only one I really watch now is EE and I love it. Been a long time since I looked forward to the next ep of Corrie (when I watched) or Emmerdale. And I hope the Beeb don't follow their route of 5 a week because it's fine as it is. ITV is a lesson in how to ruin soaps.

The only one of the big 3 I watch is Corrie as well and I love that. I do watch other smaller soaps like Neighbours and Home and Away though.

The E`dale producers need to take a few steps back and see the bigger picture. There are too many episodes, too many new people coming into it, and too many plot lines in each episode. Corrie should do the same thing too in regards to cutting back on episodes. And EE an` all.

Emmerdale has too many episodes, and the quality has suffered because of it, they should scrap the sunday episode

That's what I've been saying for years. There should be no more than three. You'll also get more character and plot development with less of them.
