Coronation Street star Bruce Jones reportedly delivered a racist rant after spending the afternoon drinking in a Cheshire pub.
The 54-year-old actor, who plays layabout Les Battersby, is currently serving a six-week ban from the soap after allegedly making "inappropriate comments" in a public place.
Ex-policeman Chris Prodomis, 42, claims to have heard Jones rage about phone workers "not speaking English properly" after he called directory enquiries from the Royal Oak in Disley, Cheshire.
However, Jones is said to have told the Coronation Street's production team that he only drank two pints and did not make any racist remarks.
Will this bloke ever learn.
And to be overheard by an ex-copper!!

Maybe it's deliberate attention-seeking on his part: while he is in the newspapers he is still famous/in demand.
Maybe he mistakenly thinks of himself as a sort of George Best flawed loveable rogue type, who is tolerated by the nation because he is deep-down such a good bloke who has gone astray etc etc. without realising the obvious fact that he is a drunken loud-mouthed ar$ehole and everyone is sick of his yobbishness.

And to be overheard by an ex-copper!! Without in any way wishing to defend possible racist attitudes on the part of Jones, isn't this just a teeny bit tenuous? We're not told the context of his remarks, but it's a fact that many companies employ "off-shore" call-centre workers in Mumbai, Nanking, or wherever - some of whom, it has been demonstrated, have an imperfect grasp of the English language, or more usually, of British culture, despite being briefed, apparently, on the latest exploits of Janice Battersby just in case it comes up in conversation. Actually, no - thinking about it, - Jones is more than likely a completely racist twat. |

I noticed we havent seen him on screen much lately - apart from 1 scene in the cab office. He was mentioned last night by Leanne and Janice though.

Coronation Street star Bruce Jones is fearing for his job after being suspended from the soap for another month.
The actor's character Les Battersby has been written out of all future scripts and producers have no future storylines planned for him.
Show bosses are still investigating claims that Jones made inappropriate comments about his colleagues while drinking at a pub.
An insider told The Mirror: "There are those who want him sacked and those who think he should get another chance. But the word around is that Bruce will go. He's not daft and realises what could be in store for him."
Asked to comment on the rumours, Bruce replied: "Sorry mate, I am under instructions not to say anything."
Fingers well and truly crossed we have seen the last of him.

the other week in Corrie it was mentioned by cilia that Les had been offered a job as roadie for a tribute band whilst in the weatherfield arms & had left immediately

Bruce has been wrong with his rants but he is not all bad.Some time back he worked really hard to raise money for a seriously ill little Welsh girl called Charlotte,He helped her to go to US for an operation.So no one is completely out of order.
